@Josephine , I agree but better safe than sorry I guess. I cropped the picture but should have checked the size before uploading it. I'm seeing my consultant again tomorrow because he's on holiday next week and he wants to see me before he goes

Great news @scubysteve better to be on the safe side in regards to the weeping and also going to London....sounds dreadful from what we are seeing. People being blown over in the street!!!!

Can you tell me that meditation app again? I thought I downloaded it but can't find it!!!!

Continue to improve day by day

Hi @Vetgirl , it's called headspace, you can run it on pad or phone.
I didn't fancy the weather much either but it's always that compromise between money and no money. Deep down I think I'm glad my OS advised against it SWMBO is happy now that I'm not going, she wasn't happy about it at the start, she thought I was pushing too quickly.
A little improvement is there every day, I've had a couple of paracetamols over the last week, mostly after walking around the local hospital :) But all the other medication has stopped. I was particularly glad to stop the self injector Clexane, I was feeling like a pincushion. How are you doing now?

Hi @ scuby steve. Glad that your doc erred on the safe side and gave you antibiotics .....and he forbade you from going to London .....probably too much too soon in your recovery as your partner said. The weather is so lousy you could've gone by boat anyway! Isn't it great to stop those injections ...my tummy looked like a map of the world. Glad you are seeing improvements daily...hope it continues that way. Take care Chrissie xxx

I didn't mind doing the injections, it was the bruising around the waist that was the problem, I'm really glad they've stopped.

I saw my Consultant again on Friday, he redressed the original weeping spot on my scar and drained some fluid from another area, I think it's all sealing up nicely, there's no sign of infection from the swabs he took but I'm continuing with the antibiotics and I'm seeing his registrar next week. Not taking any chance here for which I'm grateful.
I still have a little deep tenderness in the lower calf but other than that (touch wood) I've not had any other pain; I'm walking a little more normally now and managing with a stick rather than the elbow crutch.

Just caught up on your post surgery experiences! Glad to see you are progressing and am going to get me one of those photos when I return to my OS in April! haha.. loved that photo!

I thought it would look good alongside all the baby photo's my Mum insisted on showing new girlfriends ha ha!
:egypdance:

@scubysteve
I too just managed to get up to date on your progress. You are coming along great. Glad your OS prescribed the antibiotics too. Let us know what the swab results show....infection or no infection? Sounds like a great OS!

I'm highly chuffed with him, he takes his time is detailed in his checks, doesn't take chances, tells me everything he's planning or doing. Really nice and helpful man, absolutely spot on.

Five weeks and two days today, isn't it strange how I obsess on the exact number, that'll probably stop in time. I've been at work and driving this week both without too much of a problem but as @DrToonz says, you have to overdo It to know that you've overdone it :) . I drove to Chester and back on Wednesday and Thursday (about an hours drive each way), both days I was teaching a first aid course (6 hours each day), Wednesday when I got home I could feel that that was enough! I haven't had the courage to kneel on the floor to demonstrate skills yet, I think that would be a bit much just at the minute but give it another couple of weeks and we'll see. Still using a little ice and the occasional paracetamol but mostly off the medication now, I haven't had to use any of my prescription codeine's for a long time ( what a relief, I don't like what it does to me)
Due to see my consultant this afternoon to get the results of the swabs to see if there really was an infection, all the weeping has stopped and there isn't any more pus in the scar that I can see.

Saw my consultant about an hour ago. There we are then, no signs of infection from the swabs, the incision is healing up nicely, some further warnings about overdoing things and watching the movement restrictions and don't darken my door for three months. Yay and :happy dance
Chuffed to bits etc etc, now for the hard part, keeping my impatience in check :)
Pain is the body's way of telling you to STOP doing IT, whatever IT is.

Healing thoughts to all of you don't forget the BS mantra.

Wow Scubysteve you are motoring right along!
I see my doc next wed. to see what and what not i am allowed to do I am looking forward to that. Things are coming along nicely tough! Good ROM feeling stronger every day, try to drop my crutches occasionally I walk like a penguin when i do that lol.
Cheers Heinz

Thank you @MajorHeidi , you too, I've got three ladies coming on a paediatric course tomorrow.
love the wording on your avatar.

I don't know where the time has gone, it's now 7 months since my THR. I've just returned from Egypt after being on a Red Sea live aboard for the last week. Diving up to 4 or 5 times a day but being a little conservative and not doing every dive if I didn't feel like it. The hip is doing fantastic, my strength isn't fully back to what it was before but it's better than 85%, I can stand and balance happily on that leg now with my eyes closed, I can climb ladders with my diving kit on using both legs to lift out of the water, WOW!
I occasionally get a little muscle pain if I've worked too hard on the leg but other than that no problems at all, my ROM is good now.
If you're still thinking about whether to have a hip operation my advise is; don't delay, do it, you won't regret it.

:wowspring:a trip for scuba in the Red Sea!
Glad you were able to do that and have a great time.
Sounds like you are very happy!

Congrats on th great recovery. I'm only 8 weeks out today but looking forward to a feeling as good as you sound.
