MUA My LTKR journey continues to RTKR<

Becky, what a fabulous 10 week report! I'm just thrilled at how well the MUA has worked for you; yahoo!:yes!:

I can't wait to hear all about your trip to GA during the eclipse; yikes! I'm glad you'll be able to ease back slowly into work, especially with a high-stress job. I think it will feel odd at first, but after a few days, all will be like coming home. I know you'll be tired after all you've been through, but how exciting to hear that at 20 weeks, you basically don't even think about Knee# One at all! That's just fabulous, and hopefully, Beatrice will follow suit now that she can really bend. :wowspring:

Drive safely and keep us updated, eh?

Hoping your trip goes well, as does your gradual return to work! I found it very difficult at first to concentrate on much of anything other than Bionic Spence's tantrums at first, so I hope it goes better for you!

Have a great trip Becky -- hope you avoid much of the eclipse traffic drama. Replying to your post on Pheebs' thread: Have no fear about venting -- chances are many of us are feeling the same. That's the great thing about BS as you say - we can all take turn hosting a pity party -- they're always more fun when we are not by ourselves. I know what you mean though . . . . I just have one miserable knee to dwell on, not two, or staggered, or MUA, etc.

Hi @mechellec, I haven't been able to get on and read anything today so not sure if you posted an update about if your Dr called concerning your MUA? It did turn out to be very positive for me and I'm really happy I decided to do it although I recalled labored over that decision!

Today was a big day! I did see the eclipse but I won't expound here but will get to the social room later to post. I have PT this morning, eclipse early afternoon and then immediately had to leave to drive to Alpharetta, Ga. I am back at work half time this week but I had a class I needed to take that I had signed up for 6 months ago. It's a 3 hr drive from Chattanooga. My PT wanted me to get out every 45 minutes and walk for 5 which I did. I also had two ice bags, one for each knee while driving.

My back actually hurt worse than my knees while driving! I got my luggage in the hotel okay. I only had an overnight bag and then my computer bag. I'm not walking at my normal speed but I felt like I did pretty good actually! I had a dinner meeting that was required tonight and lasted about 3 hours. Those dinners without knees can be painful...:heehee:. It was a good boost because everyone said I looked great. That made me feel good because as you all know this recovery takes a toll! I have felt like I looked tired and haggard. It felt good to have hair and makeup looking good and have on dress clothes instead of PT clothes!! There is life after knees! I think doing something a little normal has given me a boost.

I'm back in the hotel, showered, elevating and icing. I'm going to turn things off and pray I sleep. My day starts early in the morning. I don't have much pain and right now don't have that restless leg stuff going on like I usually do and that is amazing! I hope everyone's day has been as good as mine!:yes!:

Glad to hear that the trip went well. Sounds like getting out to stretch every so often was a great idea. Also a smart move with the ice packs! I can relate to back hurting while driving. I had some of that as well as some glute pain, I am guessing because body had gotten used to laying down and elevating!:heehee: Seems like the trip was just what the doctor ordered in terms of the mental healing! I hope the rest of the trip goes well!

I'm glad your travel day went so well and hope the knees cooperate fo your class and drive home.

Sounds like it is going good! good to get away but those long drives can be tiring! My last one I forgot the ice at home! Hope you slept well and are having a great day today!

@becticu, I know that you are currently out of town, but I believe that you mentioned somewhere, in my thread or yours:what: that you have a bit of driving with your job. Just a friendly piece of advice for when you get back into more distance driving, just from my experience.....we need to pay attention to the gas gauge once again! I went from driving no more than a couple of miles to and from PT which didn't use much gas, to loooonnnnnnggg drives, and ended up playing *gas tank chicken* :chuck: in my 1st week back to work! :oyvey: Needless to say, it was an abrubt reminder if the fact that I need to go back to filling up every couple of days.:groan: I blame it on hangover brain fog!:heehee:

Becky, it sounds like your travel day went pretty well. Icing while you are driving and stopping often were smart moves. Good luck with the class today, and prayers for a good drive home.

You made out really good on your travel day! You are smart and handled your journey really well! I'm so glad it went well. It's wonderful that everyone noticed how good you looked! What a burst to your self-esteem!

Wonderful news that your MUA worked so well for your flexion! I'm still slowly building up to what you just moved to in a few days! :wowspring::yes!::yay::happydance:

Well I guess I spoke too soon last night. I survived my travel day and work dinner. I didn't have the restless leg deal that keeps me awake a lot but I had that awful bone pain in the shin of my surgery knee. I took all the drugs possible and tossed and turned all night. I probably didn't sleep 2 hours total. Not good because I had an 8 hour class to attend today.

I started out doing pretty good but as the day wore on I got more and more pain and swelling. There wasn't any where that I could elevate. I did finally drag an extra chair in the room to prop my leg up but it just wasn't the right height. Finally 30 minutes before class was over my manager and another co worker helped me get out of class and to my car. I could barely walk and the knee was quite large. :hairpulling:

I made a 3 hour drive home in 4 hours:holysheep:. Walt was still gone when I got home. I came straight to bed complete with dress clothes and shoes. I'm finally thinking about getting up to get some pj's on. My errr bottom...is whipped!

The moral of that story is I've definitely in the ODIC. I hope it doesn't last too long. I am no where near ready to do a normal day. I'm really not too discouraged just totally exhausted! I have a big day tomorrow as well but a good thing! I get my braces off. I've had them 3.5 years. I go to the orthodontist, then the dentist to have a couple crowns replaced and then back to the orthodontist for a temporary retainer. Thursday I may do nothing but ice and elevate!:ice::spin:

So sorry to hear that you had such a difficult day! I can't even imagine the struggle it must have been to be in so much discomfort with the extreme fatigue added to the mix! My heart really goes out to you to say the least! It is great that you have good news though, and that is certainly something to smile about!:snork: I bet it will feel good to be unburdened of those braces. One more step towards better things on the horizon! I love your plan for Thursday!
