MUA My LTKR journey continues to RTKR<

Thanks @KarriB. Still no success. If I pull up your name to go to your thread for instance, it says I don't have permission to view and it is marked private. Not sure what else to do.

Hopefully, everything should be fixed within about 24 hours, so things should be OK then. It's another opportunity to practice our patience. :heehee:

Ahhh, patience... I will give that a try. I just thought it might be something I was doing wrong. You know us non sleepers spend lots of late nights on here! Thanks Celle. :roseshwr:

It's aggravating to all of us, but it will be better than even when finally fixed!

Mine was like that last night. Now this morning it's working again.

I did like that for a period of time yesterday while on my iPhone I could see people's signatures with their date of surgery. No longer had to guess or scroll back to their first page to read it. Now it's back to the old way  Hope they work and get that fixed too.

Yea, we are back up! We were going through withdrawal! Thanks BS. I have to run some errands but can't wait to check out the new site!

I'm back too but don't see anything has changed at least with my iPhone.

Hi everyone, like everyone else I'm catching up on everyone's thread and seeing what is new with everyone!

I wanted to do a 10 week update. This is week 10 for my right knee, week 1 for my right MUA and week 20 for my left knee. My left knee is starting to feel like she is part of me. She felt artificial for so long and it just felt strange is the best way to describe it. I felt like the bend was uncontrolled, etc. She has been great for many weeks and I haven't done an update for many, many weeks on her because I don't really even think about her at all. I have 0 extension and 130 flexion. I can bear all my weight on her with no problem and stand on one leg without wobbling. I kind of forget about her. Occasionally she is stiff and sore but not very often. She has been overshadowed by her almost twin, Beatrice.

Beatrice on the other hand came into this world screaming and complaining from day one. She was much more swollen, in fact gigantic is a good description. I woke up in PACU in pain with her. She always behaved differently. As you all know (because you all held my hand and comforted me) that flexion was really bad in the 40's for weeks. I had finally got to 90 with a lot of help from PT.

My Dr wanted to do a MUA and I was pretty tormented about that decision. I did feel like I could probably get there on my own eventually. I was afraid to have a MUA at 9 weeks. My problem was I was running out of time. I'm not retired and had been out on STD since March 22 with my first knee. I made the decision to go ahead because I had the end time of short term disability looming ahead of me.

I had the MUA on Wed August 9. I was 90 degrees in the hospital that morning. I had PT that afternoon and easily accomplished a flexion of 105. Dr Freeman did say that I had adhesions and it wasn't muscle guarding. Monika, my PT has been amazing. She only wanted gentle stretching and I ride the bike for 10 minutes with no resistance. I've gone every day since the MUA and still just doing gentle stretching and riding the bike. So here is my progression. Wed was 90 and then 105. Thur was 107. Fri was 112. We didn't measure Mon and Tues. Wed was 116 and today was 120. All that with no hurting caused by PT. I will be continuing with PT and she will be working with my on my gait and eventually strengthening. I had little pain from the MUA. About two days later I got rather sore but it wasn't as bad as a bad day before the MUA. I did swell again, but not near as big as it was originally. If you look back on my thread you will see my comparison pictures on day 12 for each knee. They were nothing alike at all.

I drive and run errands. I've been shopping but I am still amazed at how tired I get. I've played a lot with grand kids and spent a lot of time with my daughters. It's a long road back. I have started back to work half time starting this Wed. I am working from home and doing account management, talking to customers, email and such. Next week I do have to drive to Atlanta for an overnight. I have to take a 8 hour update class on Tues. I'm a little nervous about that with a hotel stay and all. I officially will be back full time after Labor Day. My manager is very understanding about starting it out slow. It's hard to believe that I have been out 5 months in 3 days. This recovery isn't for sissies!! I could not have recovered without Bone Smart. The support from everyone and the friendships I feel I have made are so wonderful.:loveshwr:

what a wonderful update becky ~ so happy for you. how long is the drive to atlanta? i'm sure you will take all the precautions so you don't end up in the ODIC. remember to pace yourself so you don't completely run out of energy.

I love your update Becky! Thanks for posting. My PT and OS both agree I should have an MUA since I haven't budged for 7 weeks. They are calling me Monday to tell me when it will be scheduled for, but most likely next week. I sure hope mine is as successful as yours! Take care of yourself!

I'm glad the MUA has worked so well for you. Enjoy the next few weeks, full work days will come quickly. A great update, Becky!

Loved your update Becky! I hope your return to work goes smoothly with no knee consequences. You know what to do if you have any and you know now that it will pass with some down time. You are an inspiration to all of us!

@becticu I too had issues, 1st couldn't get in at all, then only saw mine, now seems back to normal. I felt as if I was going through withdrawal!!:gaah: Even if I can't post, I still like to catch up when I have short breaks during the day.

Great to read your update! Apparently I was not at the end of your thread like I thought when I posted above! Long week, tired brain! Hoping things continue to progress well for you!

@liam2015 I actually have to go to Alpharetta, Ga just outside of Atlanta. It takes me longer to go there because mostly back roads there from Chattanooga. With no traffic I could be there in 3 hours where I could get to Atlanta in 2. The eclipse is supposed to cause terrible traffic all around us because we are 99.99% total here in our area. I don't want to leave early because I want to see the eclipse. I have a dinner meeting st 6:30 so I will be cutting it close....but you have to have your priorities right and the eclipse won, ha ha. I do plan on packing early, it's just one night so all I need is lounge doctor and ice right?

I am nervous about going back to work I must say. I was in a very high stress position and got used to not dealing with it. I had some calls today that reminded me :umm:

i just love hearing the name "Chattanooga"! i can hardly wait to hear about your trip and how the eclipse fits in. yes, lounge doctor if it's not too much trouble having to carry it into the hotel, ice packs and a thermos to keep them cold. maybe there will be a freezer in your room. they might give you extra pillows if you need them. as you get out more and your knee feels more comfortable, you'll gain that confidence back to handle anything at work. continue to be patient with yourself.

I usually always make sure that I have some gallon size resealable bags, a tea towel, and an elastic wrap so that I can always get ice from ice machine if need be.
