MUA My LTKR journey continues to RTKR<

oh dear becky. keep in mind, things will get better. that was a very ambitious couple of days you had, still early from your surgery and m.u.a. do whatever you have to do to take the very best care of yourself until you get back on your feet again, with strength and stamina. great news getting your braces off ~ you'll be able to eat things you likely had to give up while you had them on. good luck at the orthodontist and dentist. hoping you'll recover fast from the last couple of days.:console2:

What a rough day, Becky. Glad you made it home okay and are able to rest. I'm sure you are excited about the braces coming off, but I wish you had a day pro two to rest. Sleep well tonight.

My question is how did your left knee do? We were just one day apart from that surgery.

I will say that you have way more class and decorum than I! I would have parked my bum on the floor with leg up on chair off to side of room leaning against wall!:heehee:

Ha ha Fire wolf, that would have been great EXCEPT I wore a cute summer dress instead of dress pants. I didn't think that I wanted to feel my incisions against pants all day. It wouldn't have been a pretty site all sprawled out on the floor with my legs hiked in the air.

Liam23 and Sandi4213 I am super excited getting the braces off, but yes it would be nice to have a day tomorrow to rest.

I have saved the best for last. @flyaway79, you asked about how my left left knee did. I didn't even mention my left knee in that post. Do you want to know why?? BECAUSE I FORGOT ALL ABOUT IT! I honestly wasn't thinking about lefty at all. Isn't that amazing?? She is actually 5 months old today. Happy Birthday Lefty! Like I said in my earlier post, I'm not really discouraged, just exhausted. However thanks to flyaway79 I remembered I have a good new knee so I'm pretty pumped!:rotfl:

Yeah for Lefty and for getting braces off. Get some sleep tonight and hopefully righty will be able to get through tomorrow. Let's hear it for rest day on Thursday!! Glad you made it home safely!

(((Becky))) I just caught up on your thread and was so excited to read how well the initial half of your trip and dinner went. And now....this! Aaarrrghh! You have been such a determined trooper throughout this ordeal, a real knee-hero (Knero!) we can all learn some valuable lessons from. I'm so sorry your exit wasn't as glorious as your arrival, but I hope tomorrow will be much brighter! No matter what, your smile will certainly be much brighter, eh? YES! Braces Off! CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS on EVERYTHING!!! And please, get some decent zzzz's tonight. If it soen't come quickly, ask Walt to get the rubber hammer out, ok? Gently, of course.:heehee:

I think it would have been just fine! Perverts shouldn't be looking at your legs in the air anyway! Next time, gauze and tegaderm over incision and wear pants. We need functional, not fashionable! :rotfl::rofsign:

Three cheers for your left knee! And Righty gets some sympathy. Poor thing, it was just too soon for her. You handled everything so well, though. My heart went out to you when you described going to bed in dress shoes and your dress. That's a woman at the edge of desperation. Sometimes when we test our limits, we find them.

Your plucky spirit inspires me. You'll get on the other side of your right knee's healing soon, and then there'll be no stopping you!

Soo great to hear you never even thought of lefty!!!! I can't wait to get to that point, I'm sure there will be a day! And I felt every bit of your exhaustion after my drive home from a family reunion, my 12 yr old grandson road home with me in case he needed to help me... not sure what he was going to do but it was nice having company on the long exhausting drive! Inspired to get to the other side with righty!

It's amazing what we can do when we have to, isn't it? I applaud your decision to leave early, and am in awe that after an awful day, you were still able to drive home.

oh dear! sorry that day at work landed you at ODIC. (I was there 2 days ago:blush:) I hope you can find some solutions to some of the things which made your knees hurt. Do you perhaps have a chance to get a lightweight folding stool to drag with you and use when at meetings/ lectures or the like? I use mine for times I know there will e a lot of sitting. Idea, if you find one of the right height, then get two, one for work place, one for everywhere else.
My fold up stool is very simple and it was inexpensive. If I find a photo of what i mean on the internet, will post it or a link on my thread. It looks like this: https://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41mGqc2QomL._SY300_.jpg

Not sure if it already exists on this forum but after reading your post, we now have a new shorthand term: IWD = Icing While Driving.

You ARE a trooper! Good for you for getting out of the mtg and on the road home! Thankfully, the ODIC usually only lasts 24 hrs. Take some time for much needed rest! You are making amazing progress! And how wonderful to not even think about Lefty! Soon it will be that way for both!

@VW54, the folding stool is a great idea! I have several for use when doing plein-air art. I'm definitely going to keep one in the car. Several times already I could have used one when on an outing and the seating was insufficient.

@becticu, here's another type of camp stool that would work well for propping up a leg.
Am having trouble linking, so will post a picture. This one's from Amazon. Search "camp stool." [Bonesmart.org] My LTKR journey continues to RTKR<

Oh Becky. I hope today is much better. At least at the dentist your legs will be up! I hope you can get plenty of rest before you have to go back to work. Your poor new knee. But, your blessed left knee!
