MUA My LTKR journey continues to RTKR<

Hi Becks! I hope the Sleep and *other* Fairies were with you last night? Good grief, outdoors at a game in 89 degrees with 60% humidity? Eeeuuuw. I call that hot, though I imagine you guys are used to that, at least more so than I am. I'd either be in the A/C or a pool somewhere. We've had a few days like that this summer and can't say I've enjoyed them. Humidity is no stranger here, but when combined with high temps, it's more than a bad hair day, eh? Hope your swelling has improved? :ice:Sending cool thoughts your way!

@becticu - I'm so glad you're happy with your mua. I know it was a hard decision for you, but you did what was best for you.
I hope you can get more sleep, it makes all the difference. I'm not sleeping well because of my scar being sensitive.
I know how bad the heat is, in Texas it's been 95 degrees and 90% humidity, it can be brutal. But, I know it felt good to be at the game, especially with Harper.
Sweet dreams :sleeep:

So Becky - here I am at 2:23 am chasing the elusive sleep fairy. Hopefully she is at your house cause she has certainly exited the building here!
Seriously, I hope you are getting a better sleep these days ummmm I mean nights!

@Happydale thanks so much for the Jason Stephenson tip on Utube. I did listen to him and slept much better on Sunday evening. I ate watermelon in the evening which was a bad mistake! I didn't eat that much but was up 4 times to potty....:flabber:

@liam2015 this would be Harper's great, great, great grandmother! It was my great grandmother Annabel Harper Heinzel. She lived to be 97 and was a cook in a mental institute until she was in her late 80's. Can you imagine? She would make chicken and noodles when we would visit and she would have noodles drying on the backs of chairs all over the kitchen!

@Pheebs52 yes Boston is much cooler than Chattanooga. I love that area. I'm sure you are familiar with Andover. I'm usually up there at least once a year for work. I always enjoy it when I go but many times it's like Jan or Feb which is insane for this southern girl. I like to fly into Manchester, NH instead of Boston for obvious reasons....

@Mister, the MUA was a hard decision but a definite right choice for me. I'm hoping to do a 10 week update on my next post and will be talking about that.

Yesterday I had PT at 1030 and didn't get out till noon. I love Monika because she doesn't hurt and push and is really doing so much massage now with her gentle stretches.

After PT I went to my daughters (Tara) house and and she baby Harper and myself drove out to our mall area. Three of our four daughters met us for lunch. Beka lives out of town so she couldn't be there. We had such a fun lunch and then went to Dillard's where they had a great sale on kids clothes. They had their little party dresses on sale and I got the three granddaughters their Christmas dresses at a great price! That was my first mall visit since my second surgery.

We went to Target to get a few things after that. It felt so good to do something normal and fun with the girls! I was fairly tired when I got home and did some elevating and icing for a bit. THEN I had a wild hair and decided to pressure wash my front porch and wicker furniture. It was something that really needed to be done but not something my husband had a passion to do if you know what I mean...

I was as soaked as if I took a shower but oh the satisfaction I got from doing that. There wasn't a lot of walking since I was basically on the porch. The therapy from that worked wonders for my spirit!:happydance:

I slept really good last night for the first time in a long time! I did the normal bathroom trips but didn't stay awake. I tried something different. Lately I've had a hard time with that restless, achy got to move my leg feeling at night. It does add to the insomnia. I decided to put the dreaded ted hose on for sleep. Actually I found these socks that are support socks but literally just a tube that goes on the calf. There is no foot in them and they don't go above my knees. That totally relieved that weird feeling in my legs that is hard to actually describe. I'm going to try that for the next few nights to see if that continues to help. :yay:

wowza becky, your stamina is coming back ~ did you do all that yesterday? i'm impressed, especially about the pressure washing your porch and furniture. how nice to get out with 3 of your daughters and baby Harper. Harper's great great great grandmother sounds like a strong lady, working into her late 80's. i hope wearing those support socks at night continues to help you sleep.

Hi @liam2015, yes that is the amazing thing I did all that yesterday! It was one of my longest days of the second knee. The porch sounds worse than it really was. I had to pick up a few things and sweep but mainly was standing on the porch spraying a big stream of water! It was rather like playing in a large sprinkler as I got totally soaked! At the mall we only went in two stores. I really don't think I could have done the mall as in store to store YET. Notice I said yet, surely I will again.

What a great day, Becky. I'm so glad you got a good night's sleep finally. I have no idea why, but I have been sleeping so much this time. Last knee it was weeks before I got 3 hours straight. Now, I only wake up to my alarm for meds. It's been weird.

On the other hand, I finally got a brief visit from the poop fairy, after a week! I was more than ready. Let's hope she hangs around for a while.

Wow, Becky, what a fun and productive day you had! This is such great news! Was this Harper's first shopping trip? If so, watch out world, she's starting early, lol!

Brilliant idea on the tieless support sock! I think many of us, self included, go through something akin to RLS, but definitely related to TKR. I know there were many, many nights where I wasn't in pain, but no matter how I placed my legs, it was....wrong. And that led to so much tossing and turning and frustration. Crossing my fingers that this the answer for you and perhaps many others as well!

I love that watermelon, but not at night. I'm the same way, pee all night!

What a great day you had yesterday! How blessed to be getting back to normal. That MUA was a really good decision. I'm so glad it worked for you!

Becky, so happy for you that you had such a "normal " day. Enjoy every minute with your daughters and grandchildren. I'm so glad that the MUA worked for you.

Becky, that is a totally amazing day that you had! The mental health benefits sounds like they were long overdo, much needed, and so much fun! To feel like a free spirit with the hose must have been fantastic! I can almost see the smile on your face and you brimming, dare I say glowing, with joy!

Hi Sandi, I'm so glad the poop fairy finally made an appearance for you! Don't you love this forum and the things we discuss? I thought that bodily function was only discussed by really old folks. I know my Dad became rather obsessed in his last years. I've found that to be of great significance in TKR recovery!:rotfl: She stopped by briefly for me, still waiting on a good visit.... I'm glad sleep is coming better for you with this knee. Last night was great sleep for me and still have hope for tonight. We watched an episode of House of Cards late night and I'm still strung a little tight from that...

Pheebs, it was such a fun day yesterday and yes it was Harper's first shopping trip! I've got my support socks on again tonight and have my fingers crossed that they will keep my legs from running a marathon tonight.:fingersx:

Karri B, Tara is doing so much better, thank you for asking. It took her a few weeks but I think she has gained her confidence and isn't nearly as anxious at all. She is doing okay by herself now, however any chance I get to snuggle that baby I take advantage of it. It's hard to believe she was a month old yesterday!

Fire wolf, it was rather fun just getting soaked with the hose! I agree the mental health benefits can't be overlooked. The lift to my psyche gave me energy that I haven't had in a while. Maybe I should play in the water more often...:yahoo:

Becky, it just sounds like you are doing great! I am so happy for you. You sound so positive and relaxed! I'm so glad that MUA is behind you and that it seemed to be a really positive thing for you!

I am so happy to read the MUA has gone well for you and you sound like you are doing great! I am so happy for you :loveshwr:

Good morning Becky! Did the support sock help you to sleep again last night? Hope so!:fingersx:

Sounds like you had a great day with your girls! To me there is nothing better than sharing in the lives of my kids and grands! That was one of the biggest determining factors in my decision to have this TKR and to plan for my next one. The thought of some day being able to participate pain free!
I am so happy that things are working out and the MUA was the right decision for you!

Hi everyone, I've just been able to get back on the site this afternoon but my thread is the only one that I can see with the exception of posts by Josephine and Jaime. I have logged out and back on and restarted, etc. Everything is marked private. Does anyone have any ideas?

Only that they're still working the kinks out, Becky. Everything is different but working for me.
