MUA My LTKR journey continues to RTKR<

Girls, you're making me laugh. Well if it makes you feel better it's really hurting tonight. Seriously I know no one wants me to hurt:heehee:. My PT kept saying that this knee felt different, that she came to a hard stop. We would get a bit more every couple of weeks but with lots of pain pushing through it. I have a nurse friend who has a friend....up north somewhere. She is a PT who specializes in problem replacements. She asked me the same thing about a hard stop. I told her that's what Monika kept saying. I think I might have eventually got there but time was a huge factor and I didn't have months to play with because of STD running out.

@kmak81230, you're right....no one left behind! We are all in this together however we get there! @Pheebs52, I know I'm really excited to get the braces off soon. I should have had them as a child but didn't. I would clinch my teeth so bad at night that I was breaking them. Braces helped with that and I got nice straight teeth as well! Braces have their share of pain with monthly adjustments. I'll be glad not to have that along with knees.:spin::happydance:

My PT always told me at the beginning when I was slow to bend that he did not feel that "hard stop". He said he knew he could get it to bend a lot more - but then they would be picking him off the floor! Smart man! I did eventually get there on my own.

I found the worst of the pain and swelling from the MUA had disappeared after about 7 days and hen it took another week and I felt that my pain levels and swelling, which were pretty minor, were back to what they had been pre MUA. The best part was I could sit in a chair with my leg bent properly enough to go back to work full time after the 7 days! :yahoo:

@flyaway79, I guess PT can feel that stop, I just felt pain. I know it's so hard for us to be patient! Honestly even with the MUA I am just sick of recovery. I've been really trying to work on my attitude and try and be more positive but when it comes down to it I am just over it, I just wish my knees were!:rotfl:

@dvannie, I'm hoping the pain and swelling steadies off and subsides instead of growing. I'm sure it will in time. I do love that I can bend that knee up in the recliner now if I want. It's so much easier to sit as well.

Ok @Pheebs52, we have the slow benders, we have the slow sleepers, and I'm sure there are others. I'm organizing the slow poopers club tonight. Any joiners? I've been doing this too long to be having this now. I'm really into essential oils and have used them on my tummy and learned how to do a colon massage. You rub your belly in the path digestion goes and it's always worked for me....until this week. Ugggg:groan:

We had our (your first) surgeries very close to each other. I give you credit for going ahead and doing the second one so quickly. I have decided I just didn't have it in me to do that and have opted to wait until next year. You will be all recovered by then and I will be just starting again. I don't think there is any good answer. :sorry:

becky, that is one club i don't want to be in ever again (the slow poopers club). hope the colon massage works for you and soon. it won't be long and you'll be feeling so much better when the pain and swelling subsides. hope you get lots of pampering.

Oh Becky - I hope you are in less pain today. I sure didn't mean to sound flippant yesterday with my comment about a lineup for MUAs. Like Pheebs and Carol my PT told me I was not a candidate and that he could not feel adhesions in my knee. I am thrilled for you as I know how you agonized with this decision over the past weeks, and how difficult this second knee has been for you. I hope the bowels get working soon. My spouse also has success with the colon massage. Cheers

@flyaway79 yes, we did have our surgeries close together and I agree there is no good answer. I was totally determined that was what I was going to do but not really prepared. It's such a personal choice as to what's best. Granted I will be done when you start but the wear and tear physically and emotionally is really hard. Since I didn't do bilaterals I have no way of comparing but I really wander if that would have been easier on me than staged... the good thing is whatever you decide you will get there with two new knees!

@kmak81230, oh my goodness I didn't think you sounded flippant at all!:roseshwr:If we can't make light of what we are going through sometimes we would all be crazy! If I thought something would fix whatever is going on I would say sign me up! Having adhesions they could break up is at least having something they could do. Slow bending you just have to wait on the knee! I was a little slow with the left in the beginning but once she kicked in she really moved along. Still no luck with the colon massage and I am going on a food strike till something moves, lol!

@liam2015, my DH has pampered me and even rubbed my feet last night to try and out me to sleep! He will be so glad whenever I get back to normal, whatever that is!:rotfl:

Just caught up with your thread.
Brave to go through the procedure but obviously the right decision: wishing you good and steady healing. I hope your PT will be kind with you.

Becky - I hope the sleep fairy and the poop fairy find you ( but not all at the same time lol! )
This journey of ours with all of our ups and downs, our outsides and our innards provide us with enough fodder for conversations any time day or night doesn't it? However it can be most frustrating at times. I am having a meh...kind of day after a good day yesterday. Could we just have consecutive moving forward kind of days??

Sounds like you're doing well and happy with the results of your procedure. It was a difficult decision but clearly the right one. Hope you feel less pain really soon and, especially, get all systems back to go!

Becky, I hope tonight finds you feeling a bit better? I tried putting in a call to the Poop Fairy, but the line was busy....so many knees, not enough time, was the message. Pfft! Do you have any nuts in the house? I mean the edible ones. For some reason, they always work for me. :fingersx:

Well the poop fairy has remained fairly evasive although she had one "little" visit. @LindaO ive done lots of throne slides today and all it has produced is maybe an increase in flexion... @jaschembra i absolutely hate black licorice. It might work but I'd be puking as well:heehee:.

@Pheebs52 i have never noticed that reaction with nuts but haven't eaten them since I've had my braces. I've done more essential oils and massage tonight...surely tomorrow...do you have a song about that?:snork:

@Canada35 i understand about consecutive days. My prayers was just two good days in a row please!

@VW54, I need to get to your thread and get updated. How's the spa going? Hope your got the car lock fixed by now.

@SusieShoes, yes I do feel like I made the correct decision for me. I labored over that one but was thankful while I was deciding about the MUA I got to spend lots of time with Baby Harper. I'm in love with the baby girl!

If all else fails to bring the poop fairy, try this cocktail. She absolutely LOVES it!
Milk of magnesia, prune juice and butter - warmed. I can guarantee it!

Foods that have worked for me...pardon the pun! :heehee:
Cooked spinach
Nuts
Melon
Squash
Eggplant
Dried prunes...several at the time!
Generally, foods high in fiber and seeds.

That's the concoction they tried to give me at the hospital Helen - typically I'm in for anything with butter but that did not sound appealing at all. I smuggled in my own prunes.
