MUA My LTKR journey continues to RTKR<

I got to leave my daughters at 630 tonight so much earlier than other days. Even with using the lounge doctor there I am still swollen.

There's not much that doesn't hurt and ache but DH is in the kitchen making dinner and I am in our Tempurpedic bed which adjusts and I have it in the anti gravity position. I even have the massage mode on! I think somehow I will get my pj's on but not sure much else.

It starts all over again tomorrow. I have daughter/baby duty Mon-Wed and then Sat. I'm so happy that the timing has worked for me to be there right now but this "Honey" is beat! Tara seemed more herself today so that is encouraging.

We've been watching a House of Cards. Has anyone else watched that. I get quite angry and disturbed a lot watching it but I think it might be a 3 show evening....:bored:

Becky, that's elevation is every sense of the word! How creative! And, what a wonderful photo for posterity! Win/win!:loveshwr:

Becky, that show IS disturbing on so many levels, but riveting! Speaking of which, on your recommendation, we watched the movie "No Escape," this weekend; yowza! No wonder you couldn't sleep that night, lol.

@Pheebs52 and @SusieShoes yes I thought that was elevation at its finest!

Pheebs oh my, No Escape..... So I wonder if the Percocet enhanced the movie or if I would have found it the same with no drugs. I acted like a crazy woman, I screamed, I cried and laid awake most of the night afterwards. My DH said he thought the meds enhanced it a lot because that isn't my typical viewing behavior :scaredycat::scare:

House of Cards is rather addicting because you want to see what else crazy is going to happen. If half of that happens in DC it's scary. DH says greater than half :holysheep:

Becky, it was a really tense movie, a seat-grabbing heart-racer for sure! I didn't take any Percocet but I definitely didn't sleep very well that night! In fact, I told hubby I might need a tranquilizer to continue watching; hah!

Though loathe to believe it, I'm afraid your DH is right about DC. :yikes:

i haven't seen House of Cards, but my son-in-law recommends it. we don't have netflix (yet). Becky, i had to laugh at your lines "what else crazy is going to happen" and "if half of that happens in D.C. it's scary". sounds like art imitating life (or is it life imitating art)? rest yourself up for next grand parenting day and don't forget to take your lounge doctor.

GM @liam2015, it is definitely worth the watch but be prepared to get angry. We watch more Netflix than regular TV! I pretty much did nothing when I got home. Getting ready for another day. I stay stiff almost continually now which is hard. I wish that wasn't so, makes me feel like what I think of maybe GREAT grandparents should feel like....

Your pic was the best one yet for elevation!! Grandbaby is beautiful.
House of Cards was one of the series I watched (especially at night when going to bed) while I still couldn't read. Couldn't believe it at first and then started looking at Washington DC and how the show could apply (I hope minus the deaths) - unfortunately.

Just keep icing and elevating when you can while taking on these grandparent duties. It's probably all worth it. :)

I just started my husband watching House of Cards. I had already watched the first 3 seasons while I was traveling. Before I started the new season four I decided to watch again from the beginning with him. It's still just as disturbing and I had forgotten many of the twists and turns. My husband says it gives him anxiety :scare:

becky, i'm so stiff too when getting up from chair or getting out of the car. i'm good while standing or walking. i hope this is normal for the time being, and that it will gradually diminish. have a good day with your daughter and harper.

Agreed @liam2015 on the stiffness! I think it will diminish - according to what I read here- and I am able to walk it out most of the time.

That stiffness likes to hang around for a long time, but it does go away eventually. I'm not stiff at all now!

Becky, House of Cards does put knots in the stomach, but...I can't help watching. I think all the high stress shows take us out of our Knee-Centric world for an hour and that alone is worth a few knots. I don't even notice my knee when watching "Bloodlines."

BTW, you actually ARE a GREAT grandparent....just not the sort you were referring to!:smile2:

I am slowly becoming less stiff. There, I've said it! I've been really reluctant to say it because I wasn't sure if it was real, but...it is! This is not to say I don't get stiff at all, only that it is diminished. My morning wake-ups have been decidedly less stiff for a solid week now. Still a bit wonky, but non-cementy; huzzah!

Like most of you, if I sit too long in any position, I will experience some stiffness. The leg down position still generates more stiffness than elevated legs. If I overdo, especially the :censored: stairs here, I will become stiff, but only in a small area, just above the knee. I used to think of that area as cement, but have now changed the label to peanut-butter, 'cuz it's so much more pliable. :yes!: Thankfully, all of it wears off quickly with just a minute or two of walking.

When my quads and hamstrings get stiff, but I'd like to sit, I apply heat and find that helps more than anything. It's a quick, pleasant and easy fix. My hamstrings just can't get enough stretching, but I had a problem with that long before TKR, so not surprising.

In summary, we may all be a bunch of stiffs now, but give us all another month, two or three and I'll bet we are Gumby clones. Ok, maybe not quite, but definitely much more rubbery; hah!

The picture of you and Harper elevating is so precious! I glad to hear that your daughter seemed closer to herself yesterday. I hope she was even better today.

Becky aren't those Tempurpedic adjustable beds wonderful. I don't know if I could have done this without mine. I'm so glad your daughter is better today. Hopefully each day will continue to improve for her.

Today went better than yesterday. I only had 2567 steps today compared to 4900 yesterday. I was able to get in the pool and exercise the knee while Tara nursed Harper this afternoon. I knew it was too many steps yesterday and thankful today was better.

Jashchema, Liam2015, Kmak81230, Sisterinhim, Pheebs52 and I could probably list everyone as we all long for the day when we feel more limber and not so stiff. Usually after I get warmed up it goes away but yesterday it never went away. Today was better and I think the pool helped. I got rather devilish when I was trying to write all that about our knees being stiff. I couldn't quit laughing because I kept wording it in different ways, all I could think of was very :censored:. Notice our male members don't discuss it a lot. Sorry I just couldn't help myself, that with no wine even...

Regarding House of Cards, I sure that much of it is very similar to what happens in DC and probably more than we could dream. @flyaway79 you said it gives your husband anxiety. It just amazes me I guess but like @Pheebs52 was mentioning just watch Bloodlines! We watched that during first knee recovery. Honestly I had such high anxiety watching that. It was one lie after another and all these cover ups. It really made me anxious on how one lie leads to another and on and on!! If you haven't seen it will keep you intrigued. I've watched more TV in the last 4 1/2 months than I have in many years! I like to distract my knees!

@jboles, yes I love the Tempurpedic bed. I was elevated anytime I was in bed with toes above nose on my first surgery. It has affected the herniated disks at L4, L5, and S1 though it bothers my back if I stay elevated too long. The same with the Lounge Doctor. I can only stay elevated so long. I little lower is more comfortable.
