THR My 5 month post op

@Gretelin So sorry your nights are tough. I did get a recliner before surgery, and to adjust to sleeping in it, I use a buckwheat type neck roll that has a removable velour cover. One side of my cheek just needed something soft that simulated sleeping on my side. Not sure if one might help you with sleeping in your bed.
 
Hello Vslowlife can you send me a picture of the chair and the buckwheat pillow. My dad is going to get it and I will try it to see if Im able to sleep. Thank you so much. Last night was another night but a little better.
 
The Golden two motor tilt chair or a similar brand, may be available at a local home care store, you know the type that sells medical help supplies, such as canes, crutches, compression socks, etc. At the store they can recommend the right size for your height and weight.
That said,I think it may be a good idea to read about recliners in the excellent article in Bonesmart’s library, first. Certain recliners can allow you to break any restrictions you may have.
You may be able to rent one for the short time you will need one from your local store. The type I have may not be necessary for you, with the two tilt motors.

For the buckwheat neck pillow there are sources online. I bought mine a few years ago from a local store.

I am glad last night was a bit better for you.

Yes, thank you. I convinced my husband enough that he brought me the recliner from the second floor and so far its extremely comfortable. Its a hard recliner not soft.
 
That is super! Even a hard recliner will help you get in that comfy position. I wonder if a comy padded comforter underneath your body would help?

Here's to some lovely naps in that chair!

I have a question can anyone tell me why Im iI so scare of dislocation and when I am out of the woods how ling will it takes ??

Gretelin, for the first few weeks I used a v pillow and found that good. It stopped me rolling x.
 
I have it. They gave it to me at the hospital. I just want to know when is safe to resume. All this limitations to avoud dislocation. When is a safe???

Your surgeon is best to answer this question. Do you have a discharge packet which may have his guidelines?
 
Yes your surgeon is the best one to ask but generally you must sleep on your back for at least 6 weeks. Then ease onto your non-operated side. I’m 7 weeks and only now am I starting to try sleeping on operated side (I’m listening to what my body says).
 
I had no restriction wrt sleeping ... I slept on my non op side from the second night (first night in hospital) ... no issues.

They did recommend a pillow placed between legs to help prevent dislocation.

Somewhere there's a timeline chart for dislocation, the risk diminishes as time passes but it's always possible.
