TKR Muscle spasm?

Thank you for responding. That's amusing about your now sleeping on your back when you don't need to. My husband is now doing the same and he's snoring like Billy o.. I don't know if he thinks he's supporting me by being the same but I'm afraid he's having me reach for my ear plugs... He's a sweetheart but sometimes...
He has already given up his usual side of the bed as I couldn't manoeuvre round it that was enough.
Another person about to go for leg number 2 wow I really am in admiration of you all!

Poor you feeling sick on top of the pain must be horrible I hope you get it sorted soon with something that suits all round.
I was given ibruprophen in hospital and I would have loved to keep taking as it is so much better for inflammation but my stomach just won't tolerate it so I'm just on the others now.
I was in the RH the staff in there were all so lovely I just feel so ashamed that this country doesn't treat our medical and care staff much better. They are so stretched for staff and it must be so stressful. I tell you what after having a couple of bad incidents on bedpans during my stay .. why has never a thought gone into changes in the shape to make things easier for us women over hundreds of years I will never know ... All we get now is not an improved version just a blinking cardboard cut out .. literally of the original!
My unfortunate events just made me embarrassed and caused the poor staff more flipping work!
That made me cross.. so any one out there who is a designer there could well be a lucrative business for women's safer, more comfortable ,bio degradable, no spill ,non having to roll and perch on toilet device for women to use in bed when unable to get out to use a commode or a toilet.

In fact I bet even blue Peter could get a few. better ideas sent by children and written on postcards if they were to ask.Dragons Den here I come!

Sorry I meant to say your physio appointment seems early. Mind you I don't know if that's the norm?
I have a nurse visit to make next week but not had a physio appointment as yet.
Hope it goes well for you once your sickness has abated and you get the physio appointment re- arranged.

@BEWITCHED Charm just a tip for you, when you are replying to a certain person on your post, if you put @ before their avatar name ie: @Sara61 - This will bring your answer to their attention xx

Totally relate regarding bed pans :heehee: :heehee: :giggle: hopefully this time round I'm able to get out of bed and use the bathroom....

@sara6
Ah I thanks for that tip. I have no idea what I am doing on these kind of posts.. I just keep writing how I feel and clicking post reply! Now I can see what it does when I put the@ in.sorry I have just been trying to answer the messages people have kindly sent in one general message.

Another tip, to everyone:

Rather than quoting the whole message, just go down to the reply box, mention the member you want to address, use the @ sign, as @Sara61 mentioned, and type your reply. Not quoting whole messages saves a lot of space on the page, and extra reading, and many of our members these days are unnecessarily quoting entire messages.

Ah I thanks for that tip.

If you want to quote a line in a post, like I just did above, highlight that line, then use the quote button to the left (not the “quote this message” button on the right) When you get to the reply box, you will see where it says “insert quotes” Click that and it will put your quote into the reply. I have attached a screenshot to illustrate.

You all are doing such a great job of supporting each other! :loveshwr:

Happy Posting!

Hi can anybody help me on how to stack pillows/ cushions to get a good fluid drain in the legs please? I am wondering if the could get it comfortable enough in bed this way to then try and sleep.

This article has a photo of the pillow option:

Hi again folks. Another day another round .. bring in my gloves!
Oh and also the surgical stockings, pain meds, exercise sheet, stool , ice pack. Crutches etc etc etc.
Funny because although I don't feel too bad in myself today ( still wriggling like a caterpillar in bed for hours as Mr sandman was obviously visiting others before me last night) I put on some music this morning while icing and got rather tearful. Not for long but tears have rolled.
And I would like to add at this point it's actually my poor long suffering husband who is trying to negotiate his way around my stockings in a way no man I'm sure really ever envisioned a scenario like this when putting together the words women, legs and stockings!
Poor hubby he makes noises like a bloater during the whole experience and needs a nap mid morning due to the whole process!
I know I am one of the blooming lucky ones to have had this surgery done as this morning it popped into my phone just how many poor people in Wales are really getting very low due to the pain they are in and the back log of surgery due to the pandemic. So when I am feeling sorry for myself which I know me and i probably will so at some point on this journey,
I will try and think about all the other people who would really love be to be in my surgical stockings, icer, recliner crutches etc etc.

Anyway I wish you all a good day and send my best to you all.

There are some pretty good YouTube videos on donning compression hose. I tried a couple of tricks with plastic trash bags and such but found the folded method worked best for me. This method allowed me to put on the hose which was best because I got super nervous that someone else would hurt The Knee when they wrestled with the hose and my big legs.

btw, I named my last TKR "El Jefe" but decide to just give this one honor as a proper noun. I like Nelly. take good care of Nelly.

Hi again, @BEWITCHED Charm , I merged your newest thread with your original recovery thread, as we prefer that members in recovery have only one thread.

This benefits you because all your information is in one place, easy to find, and maintains a nice journal for you.

This also benefits our staff, as your information is all in one place, and we often go back through your thread for previous details, so we know what you‘ve been through which helps us advise you better.

So, please keep all your posts in this thread. If you’d like a new title, let us know what you want, and we’ll change it for you.

Many members bookmark their thread in their computer browser, so they can find it when they log on.
How can I find my threads and posts?

Best wishes on your continuing recovery!

Hi I am very technology phobic so if I am sound anything wrong on here and you explain it to me ( where I go to in order to keep up n one thread as you call it) I would be grateful and hopefully won't annoy anyone.
Sorry if I have been doing wrong but I don't use Facebook etc as I don't really understand what I'm doing a lot of the time.
I was really just wanting to reach out to others in a similar position with the knee replacement surgery I'd had and get a little support sometimes.
I have found buying have written in almost like diary form today.. I hope this is ok.

I think it's all good @BEWITCHED Charm. If you've got something to share or just want to journal/document your experience, add a comment to this thread (it's yours).

Because I don't post on my thread every day, I usually have to find it by title under Knee Recovery Forum before I open it and add a comment. I click the arrow for "Knee" in the menu options banner at the top of the page and then select "Knee Recovery Forum" and then find my personal thread. I hope that helps.

One the moderators posted this link for finding your post, it's a better explanation.

Hi @BEWITCHED Charm -- You'll find lots of support on this site. Reading others' stories and getting their comments on my progress and challenges has been a big help to me as I've navigated the past 7 weeks. Don't be afraid to share, ask questions and, even, complain! We're all going through (or have been through) the same thing.

Thanks for this tip, Hawk2go! I still get confused... technology doesn’t come very naturally tome. Put me in a reasonably stocked kitchen a few utensils, pots, pans, etc, I can cook up a storm! And love every minute. ( well, maybe not the cleanup...). But computer related - that’s Real work for me.
Just tried it on my thread .. I think I’ve got it !

Your posts, @BEWITCHED Charm, give me a good few giggles. I am way over the worse months with bilaterals, but still need cheering up. Do keep ‘em coming! I’m guessing you’re a Londoner, with your sense of humour.
