Carol,

Very touching post. Sorry you couldn't be there for your son and know what you mean about wanting our moms to be there for us. There's just something special about mothers and no matter our age they remain special to us no matter the circumstance. Hugs to you, dear.

Hi Carol, I know what you mean about the Mum emotions... I am sure your son is fine with Dad... Oh, I know Dad is not the same as Mum :)

But don't forget you have an international family sharing your frustrations, happiness and each and every milestone you achieve.. we are with you every inch of your journey.

So pleased you have a new plan.. slow and steady wins the race honey.. and you will get there xxxx

Thanks, Mad Rocker---I will Diane credit when I use the quote which I agree just says it all.

No, you are not eligible for discounts---this designation is like being a senior in school. If you keep on posting enough, you can become a graduate.

The day is coming when you will no longer even think about your hip. If I wasn't a part of this forum, I would almost never think of mine. So glad I had it done---took away 10 years of pain and agony.

Take care.

Day 76 POP

I cut the lawn today. Probably not the best idea but I have something to prove to myself. I have been so sedentary with the injury I wanted to see exactly where I was physically. I took lots of breaks and its a small lawn about 30-40 ft. I'll let you know if I fall over during the night in pain.

Take care and be comfortable :ATT637464:

Good for you mowing the lawn! Here's hoping you have no after effects. I know it must have felt good to DO something physical.

I can really relate to your "mom" feelings. I was an only child and there are times that I would love to enjoy the care and pampering that I received from my dear mom. I guess that's a pretty universal feeling for those of us lucky enough to have those wonderful nurturing mothers. ((((HUGS)))) to you for sharing that story.

Wow Carol!

that is a milestone, mowing the lawn... John is in the middle of doing ours, just over half an acre at the beach house and it is knee high.. it is still a construction site so very uneven and I am not allowed to venture down... we have some major reconstruction landscaping to do sometime with big machinery.... but first that thing called work, earn the money, retire and then finish the construction... just as well I am patient :hysterical:

WOW!!! :hate-shocked:Mowing the lawn!!!!! That is amazing...:thumb:

I am 10 months out and still struggle with this task but am determined to return to it as I love it!! Part of my problem is that we have a rechargeable electric mower -- the only kind that my husband allows, and the thing weights 75 pounds and has no power assist like a gas mower...:rolleyespink:

I hope it went well,
Cardie

Day 77 POP

Hi everyone

I lived through cutting the lawn!!!!:egypt-dance:

I was expecting to suffer during the night but all I had to do was ice my sore-ish knee and nothing more. I am so happy because that tells me I can be more physical. Back to walking :happy dance:Dancing will have to wait 'til later.

Guess what???

I'm getting dressed to go for my tanning session this morning and without thinking I put on my left sock and then l proceeded to put my right foot on my left knee and put on my right sock. My right hip just twinged a bit and it was over. I put on my own sock :yahoo:

I have a feeling that today's going to be a good day. :dancy:

Take care everyone and be comfortable :ATT637464:

We have a rechargable electric mower but it is a light thing maybe 30 lbs max. It was a gift from my hubby because I hate to yank on those pull cords that the gas things have. (He was in the navy and I was doing the cutting.) It was great to be doing something outside and in the garden. :yahoo:

Hi Carol,

Well done on cutting the lawn AND putting your sock on I'm impressed, I had to check your surgery date to see how far along you were, eight days behind me, think it may be some time before I catch up with you but I'm not complaining, I prefer the males of the house to do that job so even if I THINK I can manage it I will just keep quiet for a while.:th_heehee:

I had a good laugh at your earlier post about walking around the house naked whilst hubby watched the telly, oh what images that conjured up Carol.lol.

Take care

Ann

Hi Ann

I am not pushing the task of putting on my own sock it just happened. I was dumbstruck. Today I tied the lace of my new running shoes. Real slow and my hip was twinging but I just needed to know how far I have come. It's been 8 months since I have done my own right sock and lace up shoes.

I forget how far I have come because I get stuck in the I can't do this stuff. I just need to thing about the I can do it stuff instead.

Isn't it hard not to compare progress between members who have had surgery around our own date? Sometimes I get depressed when I read that they are doing so much better but now I CAN PUT ON MY OWN SOCK! Heck before I know it I will be disco and break dancing again. Woo-hoo!!!! :egypt-dance::yahoo:

Take care Ann--keep the faith....
