Core Decompression M.omar's recovery thread<^

I would say b/w (3-5)
I asked you a question and you ignored it! What does b/w mean?
There is slight pain towards by buttocks and side.

Show me where this pain is using this chart

Hi again @M.omar
I'm wondering if you understand how to use the chart above in # 22 to pinpoint your pain for the forum nurse? If not, please let us know and we'll do what we can to help.
Take notice of the smallest chart on the left, of the three, which shows an example.
Hope to hear from you soon!

I apologise for the confusion.By B/w I meant between. You can say 3 though these days.
And talking about the graph.
1 Front Graph- I would say W R1F
2 Back graph- I would say T2B

And god bless you Layla for cooperating soo much.

Thank you!
May God bless you also. Have a wonderful day!
@M.omar

I apologise for the confusion
No need for apologies. I was just asking a question
You can say 3 though these days.
And so sorry - but I don't know what that means, either!

1 Front Graph- I would say W R1F
That is clearly Trochanteric bursitis. A very troublesome condition but you'll find all the advice in the article
2 Back graph- I would say T2B
This one, you've left a character out. I don't know if it's 1RB T, 2RB T or 3RB T

In an effort to be more efficient with time differences across continents, I'm advocating for him in saying his response seems clear in that he's rating his pain as a 3 currently, most days, and it manifests as soreness and stiffness. @Josephine

Yeah exactly there is a bit stiffness and soreness these days.

:wave:Hoping you are hanging in there and things ease very soon.

I dont know what your daily responsibilities involve...but I do hope you are able to rest, ice and elevate when possible.
I am sure that after so many months...this can feel wearying..
But Ice is a great anti inflammatory and I was a fan of it for quite a spell after my surgeries.
Hope today is a good day!

Hey guys i hope you all are doing well. It’s been now 6 months since my first CD and thanks to god I’ve recovered well.

Just some issues I’ve experienced lately.
My right hip which is more effected by AVN has become somewhat tight and stiff. The flexibility has reduced quite a bit and while sleeping or sitting my right hip hurts. I would rate my pain @ 4.
I took painkillers but it doesn’t help much. I visited my doctor and he said there’s nothing he can do about it as CD surgery takes at least a year to heal so he doesn’t want to jump into conclusions right now. Now at this point I’m really confused as to what i can do to relieve the pain. Is there any exercise to relieve stiffness ?

Though he has prescribed me a medicine called Alendronate Sodium 70 mg which is to be taken once a week. Apparently it prevents the bone from collapsing. I would appreciate any advice from you guys too. As a youngster I’m losing all the fun and adventures life could provide me and this thought really makes me sad and depressed. I’ve cried several times over it. Please help !

You said you took pain medication but it didn't work. What did you take and how often?
Is there any exercise to relieve stiffness ?
Very gentle stretches may ease this stiffness. But any stretch should be done very gently. Unfortunately your surgeon is right - CD recovery can take up to a year or longer.

Hello @M.omar
I'm sorry you continue to struggle with pain and resulting low mood. Please try Jaycey's idea of gentle stretches. Hopefully it will help...

Not sure how long you've been taking the prescribed medication. Possibly it's not working yet, or you need to touch base with your surgeon to try something else. Please make sure you're aware of all side effects of any meds prescribed as well as negative effects of long term use.

Is it possible for you to get a second opinion since you don't feel like you're getting satisfaction from your current OS?

We'd tag Josephine to weigh in, but she is away from the forum recovering from a revision surgery.
Wishing you comfort, answers and relief from the pain.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing additional pain and loss of flexibility in your hip as you're trying to heal from your core decompression.

The medication you've been prescribed also goes under the trade name of Fosamax here in the US. It's primarily a drug to treat female patients with osteoporosis, but it can be prescribed for males. Have you been diagnosed with osteoporosis? Sometimes AVN can be caused by use of Prednisone, a steroid drug. Have any of your doctors offered an opinion on why you have the AVN? Were you ever on steroid treatments?

If possible, I agree with Layla that you might want to seek a second opinion, especially about the use of the drug Alendronate Sodium, as one of the side effects of that medication is bone or joint pain. Did you notice that this pain and stiffness worsened once you started taking this drug? If so, it might be worthwhile to do a test of not taking it for a while to see if things improve. Of course, you should only do this under the guidance of a doctor but it may be something to suggest.

If you can provide the information on your pain medications (what you're taking and how often) as Jaycey requested, we might be able to offer some suggestions there.

It does sound like your left hip is healing well and that's a blessing. Hopefully we can get the right one back on track.

I was taking paracetamol 500mg twice daily.
I’ve tried basic stretching exercises. The exercises have helped me a lot. Thanks a lot for the tip.

Hi @M.omar
I hope you're having a good day.
You mentioned you were taking Paracetemol @ 500 mg twice daily. Assuming you are no longer taking it?
Are you taking anything in addition to the Alendronate Sodium?

Great to read the stretching exercises are helping. Have a great evening!
