THR Let the recovery begin!

Just one point above transfusion level and my surgeon really doesn't want to give the blood for fear of weakening my immune system. If its not better tomorrow they'll do it though.

Hi Girlie,

I hope that you are feeling better today. I also encountered a bit of a conflict between the OS thoughts on blood transfusion and the hospitalists view right after my surgery. My counts were lower and I couldn't get my PT going because of it, sounds like you are functioning better though.

I did get some blood and did not have any infection or immune related complications -- just felt the need to read the "Twilight" series once I got home... :wink1:

Hope the day goes well for you,
Cardie

I too had multiple transfusions after my revision and they find no connection to the problems/infection that I had this summer with the blood I received. Just whatever I got bit by. Everything is screened very well these days.

My OS did not want me to donate prior to my THR as he felt that is worse for the patient to do so. So, to each his own, really.

CMac, you are soo funny about the twilight reference mad especially funny since my real name is Buffi and Rees that whole vampire slayer thing out there!

Here's my updates...day two of in hospital was ok felt terrible but did PT two times. I was just worn out by the end of it all. Blood count was down and my hands hust shook terribly.

Day three- I finally slept better and I was so thankful for that. I'm not a back sleeper at all! After checking my blood levels they decided to give me my stocked blood. After the first pint I felt a slight bit better but after the second I actually started to feel like myself.

Day 5. A great nights sleep and and feel like myself. They told me I would be going home today also. During the first PT I actually made it out to the hallway so I could see a bit. :thumb: My 2nd PT was much better, I made it down the hall and almost to the gym but my arms gave out so they wheeled me in the rest of the way. We left the hospital and got all my meds and went home. It felt so great to be in my own house and bed I've been able to use the bathroom comfortably too yay!

Buffi, congratulations on being home! I'm sure that between the blood count up and being in familiar surroundings you will see an acceleration in your recovery. Just you wait and see. Happy first night home.

Welcome home Buffie,

Glad they got your blood sorted out we were worried about you, but all sounds good!

You wait it's brilliant how quickly each day there are improvements, even today I stood for a short time not holding onto the walker just putzing around the bathroom mirror. I need to do better on my exercises oops just thought of that didn't do any today spankings for me hahahaha! I have walked a lot around house today.

Continued recovery!!
xxooxx

Hi Buffi

Great that you are home and feeling better since the blood transfusion.

There is only one direction to go now - straight ahead :)

Welcome home, Buffi!!! It's always better to be snuggled in your own home. Hope you're feeling good and resting comfortably.

Welcome home! Looking forward to your updates. Hope you are getting that much needed rest!

Congratulions Buffi!!

Getting home is great isn't it?

I'm keeping a journal/diary (not every day) and just noting all the little milestones and achievements so when I'm feeling a bit down I can remind myself just how well I'm doing and where it all started.

As you recently said to me ..... patience should be your(our) mantra!

love

Thanks all! I've been feeling really well this morning, had home health care and PT come in. Balance is great, PT was just amazed how well balanced I am. Heehee they don't know me very well :hysterical: Yesterday I was still feeling a bit down and tired but I actually feel like the real me today. I could not be happier :

I hope you are all enjoying a great day of recovery!!

Well done Buffi with your PT and balance.... Today is a good day for you, may there be many more :thumb:

Absolutely! I second all the above comments! Keep up the great work Buffi :thumb: !

Hi Buffi,

How are you today?

On my thread you had asked me about my appetite sorry I never answered you. It goes up and down last couple days find I eat a muffin around breakfast time 9ish then midday a ham-cheese sandwich then 6 ish we have a good dinner, like chicken, cous cous, a non Coumadin diet veggie. Later in night I have snacked on either chips or ice cream not huge portions I find my taste buds vary frequently and I get cravings for the taste not so much the food, hope that made sense. My blessing and our inside joke I really am drinking tons of water which is rare for me, I really really am not a fan! Earlier this year I had got ontop a health Kick and it's part of the deal
I drink close to a gallon of water daily, well heading into the surgery I had thought HA I can Cheat now and not drink as much but I think I'm drinking more than ever I have this hospital drinking container with a straw it goes to 28 oz Im drinking around 4-6 of these which I think is good plus I'm enjoying nIe and refreshing this has to also be helping its bathroom missions, plus it makes me move Pee pee all the time.

Sometime the first initiation of moving is like ohhhhhhhhhh I don't want to move but once I get going it ,feels good!

I babbled today I feel more chattier the last 2 days GASP!! Looking forward to hearing from you!,

All the best...

Sarah

Hi Buffi and Sarah

You are such fun ladies, your posts fill me with smiles and laughter - thank you for that :)

Glad the plumbing is working Sarah, water, water, water is so good for the body right now. You are flushing lots of toxins and chemicals and drugs out of your system... Good stuff :)

Have a happy healing day girls

Hi Buffi. How are things going with you? We hippies tend to worry if we don't get an update for a few days.
