Revision TKR Left, right, left again

Oh NO!! I just saw your change of plans, and I really hope there's no infection or anything. This has to be so frustrating for you. I'll keep thinking happy thoughts and pray it's not a big deal.

Good luck for the results. Sorry to heat of the change of plan re discharge- but it sounds as though your team are really up to speed in terms of checking for things.

Good start to today. I had a really good nights sleep then managed to get up for my morning toilet trip without any additional pain relief. Had some pain meds now and off for a shower soon. Amazing how the simple things like getting yourself out of bed and slippers on can feel like such an achievement. I feel stronger every day.

Unexpected attack of the post op blues this morning. My lovely husband sent me a beautiful video of him sailing his sailing canoe that he designed and built. It was tranquil and calm but for some strange reason it made me have a good cry ‍
Feeling better now.

I bought a leg lifter. Absolute game changer for me! Makes it so much easier and much less painful for me to get my leg up and down off the bed.

"Invisible dog" leash.
That's what my leg lifter reminded me of :heehee:

This surgery does make us thankful for the little things we take for granted. Glad the "blues' today were fleeting.
I hope you have a great Tuesday!

I'm glad you have the leg-lifter, as anything which makes this process easier is a good thing!! My husband made me a little pouch yesterday for the front of my walker--just to carry things and have my hands free. It's the little things that help sometimes. :)

I used a little cross body bag last time. How lovely that he made it for you

Oh yeah I have one of those and it's great! They should make them standard equipment for TKR patients. I was sorry to read about your delay leaving the hospital - any news on that? I hope all is going well!

Not much news yet. The offending bug has been identified. Typically it’s apparently quite rare. Haven’t heard from microbiology yet about what treatment regime will be advised. Patience patience. I am trying to stay calm and positive. I think I walked a bit too far yesterday so I’m a bit more swollen and sore today so I’ve taken it really easy today. Managed to get a couple of ice packs which helps. Thank you for asking. How are you doing?

Oh, @Toothfairy, I'm glad they've identified the infecting agent and hope they get you started on the appropriate treatment protocol quickly.

Keep us posted.

Glad you're keeping a positive mindset, Toothfairy. Hope for the best and keep your mind occupied to the best of your ability. We're here for you always!

Just catching up... hoping for quick word on this bug's antibiotic sensitivities and get you started! Hang in there.

Thank you @mendogal me too. I feel like I will cope with whatever but I admit I’m finding the endless waiting frustrating. I do however understand the process and know why it takes time which helps a bit. I had thought of many concerns about this surgery but this one hadn’t crossed my mind. I do wonder if this is what caused the revision to be necessary. The actual revision surgery and recovery have been easier that expected ( apart from the rough initial 48 hours).

It's a natural issue to wonder about - sometimes infection will create bone loss and loosening of the implant. It's possible your surgeon and the infectious disease consultant will be able to address that question.
