THR July Hipster Recovery and Beyond

Hi there,
I hope that nasty allergic reaction ends soon for you. I itch thinking about your itch! :heehee: It must be miserable. Please take it slow with the walking. Don't want to see you end up in the ODIC (Over Did It Club)
Consider icing preventatively after your walks. I hope you come back tomorrow and report no ill effects from today's walk. :walking:
Wishing you a peaceful, itch free end to the week. You're doing great!
@laurarosee

So happy that got you something for that annoying rash!
Isn't it wonderful to be able to walk and live without that hip pain!:yes!:

As Layla mentioned, easy to overdo as we start to get with it...it doesn't hurt until we stop...so take it slow. Sometimes, just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

You've got this girl! Hope today is a Good Day!:)

I've been offline for awhile. I went back to work half days at week 4 and went to full days last week. I have a floating desk so I can stand or sit as needed. Walking is great, sitting for a little while is ok, PT is tough. Well, just the bicycle part is tough. Probably bc I'm so out of shape.

I've walked a lot and have no trouble with that. I get stiff after sitting too long. Overall, Im so happy I had this surgery. Going through the day without the level of pain I had for 2-3 years is wonderful. I hope you all are doing well.

Has anybody further along just bagged the PT? Within a week or so I will be safe enough to swim and do water exercise which I am looking forward to. Right now PT makes me late for work, requires co-pays, leaves me sore, and with a stiffness that probably has to do with swelling.

I do still wobble in a gimpy way when I walk although I'm getting better. Can't fully reach my foot to clip toe nails but beyond those two issues and a some stiffness I'm pretty good. What do you think regarding PT?

No outside PT, did everything at home no equipment required. Still do the stretches, it makes the muscles loosen up faster to get the day going. 6 weeks is when I started getting reacquainted with my feet. It took some time to reach them comfortably without muscle pain afterward. Water is where it's at, I'm in the pool every day.

Hi Laura, hope you managed to keep that rash under control and are continuing to get better. I am half way through week 4 and have lots of aches and pains. Need to discuss stretching exercises with my physio when I see her today. So far the exercises she has given me are helping but walking is helping most of all .

Re The Crown
Still on Series 1 and the Peter Townsend saga is kicking off. Loving this series and it is my treat to watch at the end of another somewhat tedious day.

Hi @laurarosee
Thanks for stopping by with an update. It's nice to hear you're doing so well.
I started PT three weeks post op and decided after three sessions, it wasn't for me.
It's a personal choice. Not sure if you read the Big Tip from the Recovery Guidelines,
here it is for you to take into consideration -

BIG TIP: Hips actually don't need any exercise to get better. They do a pretty good job of it all on their own if given half a chance. Trouble is, people don't give them a chance and end up with all sorts of aches and pains and sore spots. All they need is the best therapy which is walking and even then not to excess.

Wishing you the best as you move forward in recovery! Hope you have a great week.

Thankks for your responses Layla, Surreygirl and Eman85. I officially called the PT sessions off. I do need to work on the stretches and strengthening at home but I dont need to bike for 10 minutes and swell-up. I'm going to the fair next week and will be walking all day but I'm feeling up to it.

The itchies are better. In addition to adhesive it appears the other culprit may have been tylenol.
The little itchies greatly improved when I stopped it.

Good to hear you are all moving forward.
