@Layla @MyAussieGirl yall have some problem with hardware stores? I don't dare go in one unless I know exactly what I need, or I'll spend all afternoon oogling at all the little things I could have... and especially if it's a small store, with that glorious hardware store smell. I'm drooling now. Hardware porn LOLOL!

Sorry @gaulsuerou we should ask your permission, or maybe better, what's your opinion of hardware stores?? :wave:

Hi @zauberflöte
I absolutely love hardware stores, like you I can spend all day in there I'm kind of a home-improvement junkie plus there are a lot of other little trinkets you would not expect to find LOL!

Here in Portland we have a hardware store called Hippo Hardware - they specialize in items for older homes - and have bits and pieces from deconstructed older homes too. Absolutely fascinating place to spend a while browsing - almost as good as a big bookstore :) And there is a place in Maine that I dearly loved - not a store but a whole village of buildings full of things from old torn down houses and refurbished by the owner of the place - one whole building full of doors - front doors, interior doors, cabinet doors .... and another full of windows including some gorgeous stained glass windows of all sizes and shapes. In one building there are rooms for specific things - door knobs, faucets and taps, electrical plates, etc.

@gaulsuerue I too feel like I got my life back.
Still hearing ....at the same time?!!...every time a new person realizes I had bilateral THR. I remember you saying it made you feel like a super hero...I feel the same.
We did good!!!

Good morning all my BoneSmart Friends, last Friday on 18 August I had my six week check up. I thought I would post my update. PA removed a little picky stitch that was poking itself out from under the bottom of my incision. He told me I was more like a three month postop patient as opposed to a six week post op patient.
My OS said I was doing amazing, sent me packing with no restrictions, he does not want to see me for a year, He gave me a note saying I can go back to work. He told me it would take a full year to get all the strength back in my legs. My PT is going well, I have been twice now, I usually get an amazing scar massage which is loosening it up well and some range of motion exercises. She's going very easy on me with strength training, doing more range of motion which is what I feel I need. I only have a total of six appointments then she is cutting me loose. This whole thing has been way easier for me than I expected. I find I can actually run a few steps now which was one of my goals. There are days I forget I had surgery, there are days I get up and I go teetering off a little stiff and sore, most days more and more all the time I stop thinking about it which is a good thing. I am off all meds, I quit the Celebrex I guess there are some long term affects with that. For a week now I have taken nothing.
I jumped on my bicycle and could feel the weakness in my legs, but my OS said I am free to ride horses, ski, do whatever I want barring any bungee jumping and the like. I am still not very graceful getting up from the garden or off of the floor LOL.
This has not been all roses, but I have to say the worst for me was worrying about the surgery, leading up to it. After the first night post surgery, it has been pretty smooth sailing, not entirely without pain, but way less than I expected. I was even driving after two weeks.
Just trying to post some encouraging words for those of you who are still waiting for your surgery!
Wishing all of you who are past your surgery, a good recovery like I had!

What a fantastic report! I'm sure it makes you feel so good. It is amazing how quickly you are recovering and from a bilateral no less!! I think we still have to remind ourselves that we are not totally healed yet. I'm almost 4 months postop now and I still keep telling myself that because I actually feel healed but I know it takes longer than this. Now I hope you can enjoy what is remaining of the summer!!

@gaulsuerou wow, that is absolutely fantastic! What a followup appointment-- "come see me in a year". You are one strong and amazing lady. Keep up the good work, but no bungee jumping :snork:

Hello,
Loved your update! I'm still in awe. Your recovery has been phenomenal, I'll bet you're amazed at yourself at times
A great week to you!
@gaulsuerou

Thank you GrannyC, zauberflöte and Layla
I am so astounded myself at the recovery, I had the very worst pictured in my mind for months and months. Now the whole thing kind of seems like a blur, just so glad it's over. I am trying to find the normal me again I know she's in there

You mentioned you are trying to find the real you again and know she's in there somewhere.

Why.....are you not liking this new Wonder Woman persona you've been sportin'?
Maybe the super human thing gets old? Haha!

You took off running and are enjoying life. Your story is encouraging and inspiring.
And a bi-lateral no less.....still astounds me!!

@gaulsuerou ... Awesome news and recovery:yay:

So happy that you are indeed beginning to get your life back!

Just about to go through an anterior LTHR next Monday and, like you were, very nervous. I can only hope that my recovery is as smooth as yours!

Hi @Lerwick8
I'm so glad you opted for anterior, and I am no expert but I like the fact that they do not cut through all the muscle they just move things around to me that is way less invasive. And I can speak for my recovery that it was good, you are in good shape, you are a good candidate and I'm so glad you're going for it. I will be following your recovery. If you're anything like me you will astound yourself! I was the worst and I mean worst preop patient reading and reading and playing scenarios over and over in my head, expecting to be debilitated for months. In fact everything was just the opposite I'm rooting for you and I will be following you :-)

@gaulsuerou... Thank you!!!

I am the worst too per the reading and expectations. This week I am really trying hard to just focus on setting up my apartment for recovery. And, strange as it sounds, I am glad that my hip pain is off the charts at the moment as it will help me accept the inevitably of surgery.

Hi @Lerwick8 keeping busy is good, it keeps your mind on other things for a while at least! Even though you will have post op pain it will be well controlled and it will diminish as you recover unlike the constant pain you are in now? You will be great and wonder how you ever managed pre surgery! I wish you all the best!
