THR Juanita's Hip Recovery

@Layla so sorry it's taken me so long to respond , I've been trying to help a very dear friend who's husband passed away from lukemia on Wednesday she's completely devastated:boohoo: but I did go last Thursday for a hip aspiration and they didn't get any fluid out of the hip joint ,which they said was a good thing .
My surgeon did say he would follow up with me this week to see how I'm doing :praying: unfortunately for me the pain is the same so I'm not sure at this point if this will be my new normal:nah: I'm really hoping that I didn't change one pain for another. I really hope that you are doing well and that you have a fantastic week:dancy:

Aww, bless your heart. A prayer for your dear friend suffering such a loss. She's lucky to have you.
I'm relieved to hear the news about the aspiration. I hope your surgeon has some answers for you this week so you're able to focus on moving forward and losing the pain. Let us know how the appointment goes when you have time. A great week to you!
@Ryesgma

Happy Four Month Anniversary!
Hopefully things are going well for you.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend in the midst of all you're experiencing. :console2:

@Layla so sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you :boohoo: I've been doing ok so far and was able to go to Georgia to see my grandbabies . We had a great visit with them :roseshwr: I did hear back from my os who said it can take up to a year to fully heal from the hip replacement , but if my pain gets worse I should make an appointment to see him , I also had my post op for my hysterectomy and I'm still healing but doing well so that's good news :angel: I'm just really tired of the pain from my hip . Hope you are doing well:tada:

Happy Wednesday :wave:
You seem to be doing well, so happy to hear it.
How fun...a vacay to Georgia to see your grandbabies. They're such a joy and depending upon age can be such a hoot. I know mine are. Out of the mouth of babes....some of the stuff they come up with!

We do often hear it can take up to a full year for complete healing, but obviously we're engaging well before then. Hopefully your pain eases soon. Good news on your hysterectomy post op.
Things are looking up. Stay in touch and enjoy the rest of the week!
@Ryesgma

@Layla I hope you have a great rest of your week as well:flwrysmile: I'm curious as to when I should be worried about the pain I'm having:shrug: it's not getting any better and I'm starting to feel like I traded one pain for another:oyvey:

Hi @Ryesgma
If the pain you're experiencing is holding you back and you're anxious about it, I'd make an appointment to see the surgeon, or PA. It may give you peace of mind to see or speak to them in person and hopefully gain the reassurance you need to move forward. You are only four months post op and there's still a lot of healing to happen, but at this point continued pain, over simple discomfort, seems reason enough to dig deeper. Especially if it brings you consolation.
Wishing you comfort and a nice weekend. :wave:Stay in touch...

@Layla I think I will be calling my os on Monday to make an appointment to see wth is going on with my hip , it's starting to hurt when I walk :bawl: I hope you have a great weekend too:spin:

Good to hear. I think it's wise. No sense in suffering needlessly. You need to get to the bottom of this and find relief.
Wishing you comfort while you wait. Please stay in touch. :console2:

I'm having a hard time deciding whether to call my os or not :what: I don't want to come off as a nuisance that calls for every little thing. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to be feeling at this point , but I'm feeling worse than I did before I got my thr:bignono: I've had multiple X-rays and a hip aspiration which came up with nothing . What else could be causing this hip replacement to suck so bad :censored:any experience or advice would be appreciated:praying:

Please call your OS. Don't labor over calling him any longer, just pick up the phone.
If you feel something is off in your gut, act on it.
You've recently experienced a surgery within close proximity to your hip, also the cellulitis. You have reason to be concerned. You mentioned the blood work you had done on the 23rd, three weeks ago was high. Have they checked it again?

You mentioned your OS said if your pain gets worse you should schedule an appt with him. So, I'd do it. Feeling worse than you did before THR, is not normal at four months post op. You need to get to the origin of the pain. Please don't hesitate any longer, what do you have to lose?
Stay in touch. We're here for you...

I'm not sure if calling my os would do any good , I've already had 2 x-rays and a hip aspiration that both came back showing nothing . What else can they do at this point to find out where this pain in my hip replacement is coming from . :shrug: I didn't think that over 4 mos out I would not be having pain worse than before I got it done :scare:

Hi Juanita,
I'm curious about the bloodwork that was high on the July 23rd. Are you supposed to have it checked again?

I don't know what next steps would be and you're not going to know unless you pick up the phone. This is why you need to talk to the surgeon. You could schedule an appt with him in the hopes of making headway...or you can continue struggling with pain. It's up to you. I find it sad you're willing to suffer if there may be a solution. Your surgeon is not going to call you to see if you're flourishing and happy with the result, but you can certainly call him as a dissatisfied customer who's seeking answers and a solution to ongoing pain. Please think about this...
Wishing you comfort.
@Ryesgma

Maybe think of it this way.

Let’s say you took your car in to get the brakes replaced with new ones and after a few months they are actually worse than they were before. They are not stopping properly, they freeze in the middle of a four lane highway, they make noise, etc. and your mechanic can’t figure out what’s wrong. Would you just live with it or would you keep pushing for them to fix it or recommend another mechanic to make a diagnosis? I bet you wouldn’t want to live with the brakes as they are and would keep searching for a solution.

You are more important than a car and your hips are more important than brakes.

Please keep trying.

:goodpost: Great analogy @ceezee

We're here for you and we care @Ryesgma Give it all some thought and have a wonderful weekend!

@Layla , @ceezee thank you for all the info , I did call and try to get an appointment with my os but unfortunately he was booked through October:gaah: but I did leave him a message . I'm hoping to hear back from him and maybe get an earlier appointment:sos: I really need to get to the reason why I am in pain and now it hurts to bear weight and it feels unstable walking upstairs:umm: but as they say "life goes on" so I will continue to try my hardest to be a normal functioning person , I mean I'm only 48 and I never envisioned I would have such a sedintary lifestyle. I really hope you both have a fabulous weekend:dancy:

@Ryesgma I so glad you called them. But that’s a long time to wait in pain. Keep pushing for an earlier date. Don’t give up. You’re worth it! And your well-being is worth it.

Good to know you called. I hope when you hear back they'll figure out a way to work you in sooner.
Stay in touch, we'll be here.
@Ryesgma

I heard back from my os office but unfortunately they wanted to give me an appointment with a pa :bignono: I told the gal on the phone that I was in pain 24/7 and I want to get this figured out asap and if need be to refer me to another os:cry: I cannot deal with this anymore and I'm tired of being made to feel like I'm bothering them!!!!! I'm seriously at the end of my rope , it hurts to walk on it sometimes and it's just a constant pain,it's starting to feel unstable at times:boohoo:
