THR Juanita's Hip Recovery

If you are on antibiotics I really would not worry about any impact to that new hip. Just focus on resting and getting well again. Hang in there!

I have a question about possible spreading of infection into my new hip , I was doing very good pain wise after my hip replacement but now I wake up every morning with a lot of pain in my hip :shrug: not quite sure what to make of this. Should I send my os an email to ask ? There are also times that it is painful in the joint to walk , I am on antibiotics but not sure if I started taking them before it had a chance to move there :bawl: I might just be super paranoid because I've been so sick lately. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated:angel:

Hi @Ryesgma
Yes, definitely check in with your OS. Call the office and ask to speak with his PA or a member of his care team at the very least. It's better to be safe than sorry. I'm sure through conversation and some questions they'll either reassure you, or have you schedule an appointment.
Wishing you comfort and all the best. Please stay in touch and update us on your progress.

@Layla thanks for the advice:yay:i emailed my os this morning and waiting to hear back from them. I'm starting to get pain back in my hip and it's difficult to walk again :shrug: really hoping that it's because I have been down for a while with these hysterectomy complications. I do have my post op with my urogynecologist tomorrow morning so really hoping everything is trending in the right direction:beg: this has been horrible.

Good evening to you,
I'll bet it's been stressful. My heart goes out to you. It's worrisome to be dealing with other issues when you're trying to concentrate on your recovery. Since you sent a email and received no response, consider calling in the morning when they open to leave a message. You know the old saying "The squeaky wheel gets the grease." Best of luck at your appointment tomorrow. Prayers it's all good news from here on out. Let us know how it goes.
@Ryesgma

Well I have been trying to get in touch with my os , I've left 2 phone messages and sent 2 emails still haven't received a call yet :censored: hopefully on Monday I'll hear something. I'm trying really hard not to get too worried about my infections traveling to my new hip:swoon: but it's really hard when I keep having worse pain and when it happens to be painful to walk on it sometimes:scare: really want to feel better soon.

That just doesn't seem right. You'd think they'd get back to you within 24 hrs.
How frustrating for you. If I was trying to connect with them, I'd call as soon as they open tomorrow and if I didn't get a response by mid-day, I'd call again.

Does your OS's practice have a (quick) walk-in clinic where you could go in person? Luckily mine does and if you show up there and my OS or his PA are in the office that day, they'll automatically see you. The two offices are connected. Do you have an option like that?

I hope you have some success tomorrow. Let us know. Wishing you comfort as you wait.

@Layla I received a call from the os nurse today , she doesn't believe that there's anything wrong with my hip she said that I'm still recovering from surgery and it takes time , I preceded to tell her that I was very concerned because I was basically pain free until I got these 3 infections:eeeuw: she said that she would talk to the surgeon and get back to me so I guess I wait some more . I would like them to at least see me and make sure . I have finished my antibiotics and I am still having pain from the vaginal cuff cellulitis:gaah: if this doesn't go away I will for sure be back to the ER , don't need to get any sicker from this. Hoping everything works out:angel:

Well at least you have the ball rolling in an effort to get to the bottom of it all.
Hopefully the nurse is right. Let's see what your OS thinks.
Prayers you start feeling better soon. :prayer: Keep in touch and let us know what you hear.
@Ryesgma

Hope you hear from them soon.
How frustrating for you.
Hugsxxxx:console2:

Good grief! I have just been reading through your thread… you are right to make a fuss - you don't deserve anything to happen to that new hip of yours… I have a pre-op investigation coming up and may be heading down the same route as you so am reading your thread with great focus… I hope that all comes right for you and please don't be afraid to make a BIG FUSS! It is your life!

Thank you guys so much for the words of encouragement:console2:i got a call tonight from my os personally and he is concerned as well about my hip , considering the blood work I had done yesterday and the fact that the numbers were still high. He called and put me in for a hip aspiration first thing tomorrow morning :thumb: so that means we shall find out asap if my hip is good or not (I'm hoping for good:yes!:) I can't wait to have an end to all this pain and infection , I'm exhausted:mcoffee:
