Woohoo! I just got dressed to go to PT. I have a chair in my bathroom to sit in while I get dressed. I got my undies on and then stood up to pull them up. Then, without thinking, I grabbed my shorts and stood on one foot while I stepped into them, and then was doing so with the second foot when I thought, "What the heck am I doing?". Oops, that second knee doesn't bend as much, but I maintained balance and on the third try, got it through! Not something I would have tried at this point had I been thinking, but thrilled that I was able to do it! I just assumed I couldn't/shouldn't.

Woohoo is right! Good for you girl! :friends: So way Kool! It must be so neat to surprise yourself like that! :egypdance: That balancing act is a plus! You should do great at PT today kiddo! Congrats on another milestone, :yes!:

Well done after just 3 weeks that's amazing progress!

That is a great sign of progress!:egypdance:

How did you do at PT today Janet? I hope all went well and you're resting, icing and elevating! PT has got to be like a full days work! Hope you get a good nights rest for all your accomplishments you achieved today! This way you'll be bright eyed and bushy tailed for your nail appointment tomorrow! :happydance:

Wow Janet,

You are doing great! I am so happy for you! You have such a sweet spirit and a great sense of humor! I liked your fake out with the cat also! My Mom has my dogs until she is sure I am ok on my feet! I think my hubby is bringing them back with him tomorrow!

PT was fine, she was impressed and trying to find things that needed working on. Mostly measuring and testing out today, reviewing things to do at home, and then she put me on the bike for 5 minutes to rock back and forth and the recumbent stepper thing for some strengthening for 5 minutes. My one knee would not make the turn, but the other knee went right over on the bike. On the way home, I said lets drop in at my daughter's (5 minutes) away. My daughter was nearly in tears to have me drop by, thinking I would be laid up and not able to come over all summer. The kids were happy to see us also. We ended up staying for dinner - a break for Warren (hubby) - and Daniel sat next to me where, he said, he could touch me. (awww). Then we headed home as I realized my limit for visiting depended on getting home before I needed to use the bathroom, where I had my raised seat with arms!

Awesome report Janet, that's great that your daughter was so happy to see you out and about, very heartwarming! And Daniel sitting next to you so he can touch you! Man, besides having to go to the bathroom you must have been on cloud nine on the way home! :happydance: Have a great nights sleep with dreams of everything that went well for you today! :friends:

Sounds like a great day! It is nice to get out of the cage. I get to do that tomorrow so your report is great to read.

Thanks, it was a good day, and was so, so nice to be at my daughters for a few hours!

Janet,

I am so excited that you are doing so well! Keep up the gret work and you will be running marathons in no time! :yay:

Hi Janet, I'm wandering out from my thread to see how the world is doing and I was catching up on your journey. I must say I smiled at your first post after surgery. What the heck were they giving you if Percacet was a lighter drug....:)?
I didn't realize you had both knees replaced, so I have to say well done. You are one brave gal. I only have the one knee but I know for sure it gets better. Last night i was sitting here and I realized that not only were my legs crossed at the knees....something I only dreamt of 8 weeks ago, but that the rubber band feeling had actually begun to loosen up. ( just a little but I'll take it )
One thing for sure is you have a great positive attitude, I find that to be important in this racket. ;), Oh, yes I too peed on the floor and that's with one knee...(((((hugs))))) Linda

Lol! Yes, my early posts and emails were a good reflexion of the pitiful state I was in! Because I couldn't have an epidural as a pain block, they were doping me up pretty good those first few days until a nurse said, enough!

I crossed my knees yesterday also! I think I probably shouldn't yet, and will try to remember not to, but it was more comfortable than I would have thought! Yes, both knees, and I'm so glad I did it this way. Of course, better would have been only needing one!

Nice to see you out in the neighborhood!

You're awesome, janet! Long may it continue..balancing on one leg.wow!!
Its hard to remember not to cross legs when theyre up on a stool, it's automatic for me...I know the advice is not to but when you sleep on your side they are sort of crossed if not on top of one another. I would stop myself crossing them and then find myself with them crossed under me when at computer desk..automatic! You'd soon know if it was hurting!
