Hoping for a ?good? appointment on Friday! Like Jo says, call ahead and tell them you will be needing a wheelchair, and someone to push you. For goodness sake it's a MEDICAL Building!!!!

Sandy

So I don't know where to start about today's appointment it all seemed such a waste of time!
I had X-rays first then saw a registrar one who I'd never seen before so knew nothing about me.He read the 4 lines of the MRI report to me and all it said was replacement fine no loose components no damage to it no infection signs. So I then asked him why it didn't mention my Synovial Chondromatosis (SC) and he said he wasn't sure as it should at least say it wasn't present so it would need to be re reported on!
So he brought the scans up on the computer and had a look and I have to say you can barely see anything because of the TKR he explained that they don't work well after a replacement we had a look at the ones of the back and he said there was some evidence of what could be SC but couldn't be definite.
He said we could go in with a camera but the risk of infection is high and they wouldn't want to do that,I asked if I could have antibiotics before after during a scope and he said it was an option. But I was still at risk and I may lose my leg I told him this would be a better option right now and he said are things really that bad and I promptly burst into tears!!!
He then suggested I come back and see the consultant.I asked him what would be the point no one wants to do anything you've no answers for me you don't know why I'm in pain and can barely walk and you don't even know if my SC has returned! It just seems like it was all a total waste of time he had no new answers for me he said I maybe one of the 1 in 10 who TKR don't work for?!and maybe I should go to pain management like I've not already been down that route half a dozen times!!!
So I agreed to go back and see my consultant but I've no idea where I go from here I'm in a right mess emotionally :( I feel angry and so upset.

Thank godness you have us here for you. I am sure others who know the system will have good advice. Hang in there. We are with you all the way my friend.

Natalie,
I wish you had received better information, we are here for you.
I hope you got copies of all your x rays, scans etc so you can forward them to other consultants.
Wishing for answers for you,

Did you get the copies of those x-rays and scans? The BoneSmartie convention is ready to step in!!!!!!! :console2:

Oh and that was the final cock up of the day the medical records clerk was off sick so I paid for it all and they are sending it first class post Monday.I requested the last x ray and MRI
I honestly don't think anymore can be done I feel deflated

WRONG Natalie! They have given up on you but Dr. Maale hasn't! He said he can make your knee pain free again and I believe him! I don't always believe what doctors tell me, but the sadness that showed on his face and the fierce determination of his words when I finished were all it took for me to know there IS a fantastic surgeon who WILL NOT GIVE UP on you! Now it is time for you to not give in either! We haven't met by "chance". God put us on a course to meet at just the right time! Natalie, never give up! You have your husband and children rooting for you as well as the entire NATION of BoneSmarties, and if you haven't noticed, I am one of the most stubborn people on here! I refuse to give up on you! You are my friend, and we will get through this together! :happydance: :friends:

:goodpost:Natalie, Sounds like you have done all you can do for now. Time to rest up for the next steps .

The links lead to the same page, tell us which row and column you are looking at. I do not think anything should be closer together. I've got all sorts of red flags flying about something being closer.

Thanks so much Sonja I cannot believe someone actually wants to help me you are a true angel for asking him

Natalie,
After all of this and still no answers, I am so sorry for you. But you do have someone,Dr Maale, that is more than willing to give it a good try. Don't quit now. Get those x-rays and scan to him asap and give it a chance. Don't mean to preach but I really do care and want you to be pain free if there is anyway possible, you have been thru enough of this being jerked around. Let Sonja help you and Dr Maale.

Thanks Rose it means a lot that you care xx

I have to say my nurse friend has just suggested I go and see my surgeon privately as I am more than likely able to get in within the next week it would cost about £120 but it would be worth the hour ill get with him and seeing if he does have any answers and to cant to him about Dr Maale and see if I can get him on board with it.

Natalie,

At this point, I think it becomes, whatever it takes to get you out of pain and back to living a life of quality now. :)

Oh Natalie!
Why do they keep rotating you around to people who don't know you?
You must be so frustrated. Are you able to stay ahead of the pain?
I think you should try to see the Doc privately. At least he knows you and might be able to give you some information!
Are you planning a trip to see Dr. Maale?
xx
Sandy

I'm :gaah:for you, Natalie. I hope seeing the doc privately or getting set up with Dr Maale will be in your future.

I've no idea Sandy it was a totally pointless appointment today :(
I would love to go and see Dr Maale but I won't be able to afford it just yet so I'm hoping when hes seen my scans he may have some advice.
As for the pain it's up to an 8 most of the day on a 1 to 10 scale I use Oramorph to try and sta ahead of it and avoid getting to a 10 and I have Fentanyl patches on to try and reduce constant pain I hate to think of what I'd be like if I didn't take anything.
I use heat and ice as well all day long.I am still often at a 7/8 pain wise.
