TKR Indieknee trying to recover

Yes! That’s the attitude: Sometimes it’s the things you don’t do that matter. It’s kind of hard to wrap our culture’s “have to be doing something” mentality around NOT doing things, but that’s what many of us need to do.

Don’t you feel you are doing nothing, try to look at it as if you are working hard to give your body the best circumstance in which to do it’s job of healing.

And a kitty heating pad is great because it doesn’t cool down, it stays warm! (unless said kitty leaves!) :kitty:

New avatar - it was a windy day - it’s called the shaggy dog look!
My GP has agreed to refer me to pt as an NHS patient which means I will get 6 free sessions.
My knee looks pale today not all red and blotchy so :fingersx: Perhaps some improvement.

Any ideas - Desk Chair for TKR
I work from home and have an office upstairs which i share with my husband. Trouble is I can't at the moment because i can't sit in the chair for any length of time. I have all my stuff downstairs including my computer surrounding my recliner. This is fine and comfortable, but not good for teamwork.
Does anyone know of a chair or an adapted chair that that would be comfortable at a desk?

That's a problem that so many of our office workers have run into to. So far, I've not heard of any solutions.

I think you just have to shop and try out different chairs to find which one works for you. I find my knee is still bothered by a seat that is too high or a seat too long, front to back.

What I finally did for my computer chair was to put a small platform on the floor to put my foot on. I used a short cardboard box with a thin cushion on top of it. It’s cheaper than a new chair!
I had it set to it’s lowest position but it was still too high.

I have another computer type chair at my sewing machine and I was able to lower that to a comfortable level.

I’ve now tried different things to adapt my home office chair - the best one being the foot platform idea from jockette
But I think until my extra pain is sorted or not, I’ve decided stick to my recliner + computer + other tkr paraphernalia. I am a bit fed up of taking up so much room - we only have a little house!

My knee hurt from morning till night so I did no exercise just massaged the top of my thigh with a rather rude looking wooden massager thing I sent off for. I’m now lying in bed with my leg elevated and an ice pack behind my knee - after swallowing all my meds, not too uncomfortable.

Did the rude looking thing help? It sounds medieval. :console2:

I don’t think it did any harm. Here is a pic - the long bit is the handle and the wooden balls roll on the skin to massage.
I forbid you to laugh :heehee:

Whatever works!! :spin:

My thought for the day: Years from now people will look back in disbelief at what we went through and put up with to get a new knee, at least I hope they will. It’ll all be done by laser micro surgery and live 3D modelling with special new pain free nerves.

I’m off to see the wizard of os next week to see whether I have CRPS. He did say that if the pt had improved matters he would be able to sign me off. I doubt that somehow. Please close your eyes if you don’t want to see my big fat knobbly knee. Mm, I don’t think the photo does it justice, it has a much blotchier appearance

Had hardly any sleep last night - pain most of the time - looks like it will be similar tonight - I hate this
Ah well, time for the books. I think I’m in the mood for a good murder mystery, I love my kindle :) :-) (:

I have the kindle app on my phone, I love it!

I used a medium size stability ball. I just laid my leg on it. My desk is normal height. Used the ball off center from the desk. It worked for me.
