The lack of sleep is so tiresome @Fit4Family I was waking every hour or so last night, partly the dry mouth, partly the neighbour's outside light switching on and off randomly. You could land a plane with its assistance. Don't think I was sore though. And I did have a classical music station playing very softly. I can't slleep in total silence I find.
Tried nothing but ibuprofen and an antihistamine yesterday. Sore hamstrings(?) after physio. Might try a different cocktail today. They all have side effects I reckon. I'm sure paracetamol causes mild tinnitus. May try to manage without anything this morning and see how it goes.
Grey and gloomy today but I'll get out. Not least because decorators are coming and I always feel I must look busy on the rare occasion we get professional workmen in. Does anyone else clean before the cleaner comes?

I hope those massages continue to help, @Fit4Family Still feel a bit of trepidation when I think about anyone doing a massage on my leg, but clearly it is something that works for you. Is your knee a little less swollen and painful these days? Hope today's a good day for you.

Good Morning.

Hello @Barbaraj I am seeing progress. Have moved to bicycle most days after PT and lots of walking after therapy. Massage is helping move fluid from knee and laser is also waking up and realigning muscles to lay properly. Hope you are progressing well leaving soon to drop daughter to college. Will check back tomorrow on everyone’s threads. ❤

Hello @Misscarol
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. We will get there friend. I lost about 7 weeks of progress from tendonitis, but things are starting to mend and I am progressing again. I know it’s so hard mentally. I really struggled at my one year mark of fracture. Feeling more confident in my bodies ability to heal now. Big improvements this week with return of feeling on the back side of my 12” incision. It has been numb since original surgery. So I have physical sign things are improving. Just at 5 month mark, so you will get there. I am still using cane as gate isn’t 100%. Glad you have found a bio mechanical therapist that is helping. Sending healing thoughts friend. We will get there. :friends:

Progress, that is what we all want to see, @Fit4Family, regardless of how slow it sometimes feels. Progress gives us hope that it's not always going to be like this and there is a brighter future ahead. I am so glad to read that massage and laser work is helping. I am sure with upcoming trip to drop your daughter off at college you wanted to be able to do that without suffering the entire time. I hope the trip goes well for you and daughter hand off goes smoothly.

Laser?! Did I miss something? But such good news. It's amazing when you can finally feel the improvement is real especially after a setback. Hope the trip went well.

I started having knee pain myself this summer---on the opposite side from my replacement. I never had it before, and when I saw my doctor for my one year follow up, he said he didn't think it was anything serious, and my X-ray looked fine (big "whew" here) but that after several months walking with a bad hip before surgery, and a year in recovery from the replacement , even though I have no limp and have been doing great, it wasn't a surprise that the knee was finally feeling the effects.

My first mountain hike with quite a bit of elevation gain and lots of rocks to go over apparently set it off...coming down steep trails is hard on knees under the best of circumstances. My hip was perfect during the hike--stable and no pain, and I was so thrilled. I was marching up the mountain so confidently, and leading my family on the trip down....just like the good old days. And then the next day....KNEE PAIN! So now I am doing PT for my knee (which is including lower back, leg, and hip work as well, trying to build up my core as well as the muscles around my knee). I'll only go a few sessions to get the exercises and be sure I'm doing them properly and then hopefully be able to build the knee muscles back up so I can hike again before the snows head into the mountains.

I can imagine how frustrated you must have felt to have a 7 week set back, but at least you are back on track now. Are you seeing a regular massage therapist or are there specialists to do what you are describing? I appreciate your positive attitude so much....it's not always easy to keep the goal in mind and not get distracted by the bumps along the way!

* Was it a long trip dropping your daughter off for college? Hopefully it went well.

@Fit4Family loved catching up on your thread and seeing progress! Well, you know I am a big fan of therapeutic massage and loved reading that you are getting results. Do not be afraid to give a lot of feedback, it will help them zero in on what to address.
I am getting weekly massage sessions and still find myself amazed at their effectiveness :heehee: my thigh muscles now feel flabby instead of rock hard, which is a good thing.. but still.. flabby?
but the rock hard, spasmed, inflamed feeling had to go!
Wishing for you continued improvements--

Happy Monday All,

Will come back to answer everyone personally. Thank you for all your messages! School morning so my list begins anew with first football game tonight for our son!

Move went pretty well. Long drive! Traffic both ways so 5 + hours left me quite sore and locked up. Could not stretch as much as I wanted as we had time to check in our daughter. She is settled and seems happy. ❤ Hip doing bit better this morning. Our hotel had exercise room so I rode bike Sunday morning to try to loosen things up before the drive home. Home looked so good last night. Especially our bed.

Massage is by a trained PT who owns the practice. She has been extremely helpful. Began with just lower leg and knee and now includes outer hip down to knee. IT band still tight with any sitting. Moving much better than sitting or even sleeping. Laser is being used to stimulate dormant muscles. Huge help on outer thigh and knee. Have been having massage twice a week for last month. Will be adding more exercise as I confirm tendonitis is healed. See OS on 10th. My knee pain is on my operated side. Have noticed if I concentrate on turning foot in on bicycle have less knee pain. Plan to talk to PT about how to work on my gate and foot turning out to left. Operated side my only issue. No pain on right side at all thankfully.

Grateful for all of your support and encouragement. Other improvement this week is ability to stand longer without tiring as fast. Hoping this is another good sign. Hope everyone has a great week!

:egypdance:It's getting there...
There is likely to be some more of that ebb and flow but don't let small setbacks get you down.

Do remember to bring a bleacher seat for football game and hopefully you won't get overly strung out this week.
Busy day...follow up with extra restful day...and your stamina and strength will come back before you know it.
Hope today is happy:flwrysmile:

Woo, hoo, @Fit4Family, what a great report to read on Monday morning! Are you completely healed yet? No, but sure sounds like you are headed in the right direction. Glad to read that daughter got dropped off successfully and that you survived--ouch, and double ouch--a five hour trip which must have been hard. And good for you deciding to get a little gentle exercise in the hotel's fitness room. I am sure you were grateful to be home again, and your own lovely bed. Hope this is the start of a good week for you--all signs are good for continued recovery. Hope tonight's game is a success--bring a cushion for those bleacher seats, however, they can be pretty uncomfortable!

So glad your daughter is settled & happy...what a relief for you.
5 hour drive... no wonder you were stiff....but the massaging seems to be working & will of course help your stamina too..

Glad you are finding standing easier too... it’s happening!!!

Have a good week hun xx

Good morning all.

Stadium chair is on my list this week. Did not last whole game. Bleacher was so low to ground. Our son hurt his wrist so X-ray today and a doctor appointment. Hoping hubby will pitch in as I have PT this morning. Last night my leg buckled. I didn’t fall, just worried me. I will only be doing massage this week. Muscles stil seem very tight from my weekend trip.

Trying to catch up here. Lots of healing going on around here. Happy to see all my hipster pals are making progress!

Thank you @Mojo333 Laughing at all your comments sprinkled around site today. You make me laugh out loud. Good luck visiting your Mom. Think it’s this week. Hope you have a wonderful week. It’s dangerous to do all this reading before coffee. Only half awake. :heehee:

Well, @Fit4Family I only lasted the first four innings at last night's baseball game. I wasn't really hurting but put on my best "puppy dog sad eyes" and my husband cheerfully agreed to leave and we were on our way home early. You are still working on muscle strengthening so reading that your leg buckled isn't too surprising, and nice that it didn't result in a fall. You said "no harm done" so that's good--just keep plugging along and I'm betting in time it's all going to get much better. Hang in there.
