@mydog Hi Sheila,
My muscles are starting to give in to those stretching exercises. (There stating to loosen up. )
Today I had to watch from the window as my wife and daughter cleaned the snow off of both cars.
I know your day is coming up and I want you to know you will breeze through it.
You and your family will sit in the family Atrium for about an hour.
The first time they call you it's nothing. Just wrist band and double check your drivers license and insurance card. That's just 5 minutes tops then you could go back and sit with family.
Next time they call you its to be prept. So you can kiss your family.
At this point I brought a few short stories I printed out to read. Family members can come to see you.
You can be up to 3 hours in prep.
They will ask you to put on a hospital gown and remove all clothing.
In this area they will shave the surgical sight, ask lots of questions to confirm things, hook up I.v., meet and greet your Anesthesiologist, and the last thing before they roll you away to surgery, is your surgeon will come in and sign your leg with a marker.
When he does that it's just a matter of time.
Now you can go to the bathroom as much as you want in this area up until the surgery. (You have to carry your I.V. bag with you )
What I did for both Surgeries at the point they called me from the family atrium was try to remember every bodies name that I came in contact with ,at that point ,all the way through discharge. (It keeps your brain busy)
I would guess some of them remember me because I kind of talk a lot.
Here are some people That I had.
John: he shaved surgical area.
Nigel: Anesthesiologist .
Kimora: Anesthesiologist.
Mirna: PACU nurse.
Amelda: PACU nurse.
Alma: PACU nurse.
If you get a room on the 7th floor I had:
Vladimir: daytime nurse
Ron: daytime nurse
Richard : night time nurse
Noi: daytime nurses aid
Ava: night time nurses aid
Olivia: night time nurses aid
Margaret: physical Therapist
Mia: physical Therapist
I can go on and on. These people are all so nice.
Anyway I'm just trying to put your mind at ease. You will be fine.
My room mate and I clicked right from the start. His name was Bill from Long Island. Bill and I became friends and we email each other ever since we got discharged on Sunday.
Right after surgery and before I had a room, I had my wife bring my IPhone, charger, and extension cord.
Whatever you do don't forget the extension cord and charger.
Poor Bella, your right, they know. But you will go in on a Friday and home on Sunday like me.
If you want your prescriptions filled before you leave , the pharmacy will send someone to your room to get your prescription card. Then the Physicians Assistant will fax your prescriptions over. Now your Copay for meds have to be paid. I had to have my wife call the pharmacy with credit card info. She also had to text me a picture of my prescription card so I could show the pharmacy assistant.
Lots of things and I hope I'm of some help.
I'm doing ok Sheila. I don't like the swelling but I can remember 3 and 4 weeks after first surgery, and I was ready for anything. So I'm very optimistic.
Keep in touch ok. Right up to the last minute.
I will be thinking of you.
Take care...,,,Jeff
P.S. I was in the Hospital on Valentines Day so today my wife and Chloe was in the kitchen all day making me some sweets.
Chocolate cake roll with strawberry filling, and homemade chocolate turtles with almonds.
