Jeff

Hey there! How are Ya doing? I have been concentrating on training these last 6 weeks....5 days a week baby! I envy you being on the mailing list for Sanders....have one for me as we cannot buy them here in Canada.

Now when is the next hip adventure......remember you are still going to go easy as your weight bearing leg will be a relatively newly replaced hip leg. You will definitely need the cane for longer...use it,

Let me know how everything is going. Hope all is well with you and the family

Hugs from snowy Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Cheryl

PS. I am signed up for a 200 km cycling race over 2 days as well as a 4 km swim race from Quebec to Ontario! More races planned as well for the summer

@2 for Jeff Hi I am new to your thread, just three weeks ago had my first hip op. I read about you being on the Sanders mailing list. I was trying to work out what Sanders were - were they exercises, were they a chain of Gym's, were they hip parts??? I read back and saw they are chocolates, so will definitely send of for them if I can from UK.

Good luck for Friday!

@2 for Jeff sadly Sanders chocolates are not for me a $9 box costs $58 postage! Oh well you have influenced me to try some other "luxury" chocolates from UK ummmmm!

@copsham I hope your recovery is coming along fine. When I was 3 weeks out like you I was beginning to feel good and I would notice a little more progress every day. Finally, reality hit me and I knew it would be short lived because there's only so much you can do with one good hip.
It's less than 3 months since my right hip replacement and I'm just 2 days away from living with absolutely no more bone on bone pain.
I'm such a different man since having my first operation. I'm not 100% but people notice it right away by just looking at my face.
My daughter was showing me family pictures of us on the computer and she would zoom in on my eyebrows on every photo and she said Daddy why do you look so mad in all of these pictures? I didn't realize it but I was fighting back so much pain for so many years that it would show in my face. My eyebrows were drown in and you could see the tightness around my jaw, as I would constantly bite down on my teeth.
I'm so glad my friends here on Bone Smart gave me the confidence to do something about it.
Now, talking about chocolate. No way would I spend that much money for shipping. So I'm sure there is a compatible or even better brand of chocolate in your area.
As many others posted here, chocolate helps the healing process.
Anyway it was nice meeting you and I wish you the best

@CanukTriMom You are so athletic and competitive. I wish I had just 10% of your energy. Good for you. Keep going forward and don't look back. I don't have to say it but let me ask anyway, How's your recovery coming along? LoL just kidding....
We can all see your doing awesome.
Forget about the Sanders chocolate,
I want some of what your eating! LoL
2 more days Cheryl. I have to start all over again.
No fear this time around. Everything is in place at home. All I have to do is just show up in the hospital on Friday.
I've been a little busy with the new apartment and all. Getting your mail forwarded and changing the address on all if my documents is exhausting.
Anyway I miss getting on this site on a regular basis.
Talk to you soon Cheryl

@2 for Jeff......Hey good luck on Friday! I was just wondering about you a couple days ago. Good to hear from you and glad your pain free life is very close to becoming reality. You've had a long struggle but the end is near. So happy for you. You're a pro at recovery so I'm sure you will breeze through with flying colors. In the future those pics will show a new you.

All the best to you and come back to let us know how it all goes. You gave such a good step by step account of all you went through, we all feel like we went through it with you. We care! Let us know!

@2 for Jeff Good luck for tomorrow! It 7am here in UK so middle of he day in New Jersey I guess? Will be thinking of you and sending you virtual chocolates. You seem to have given me permission to eat chocolate again. I don't know whether to thank you for that or not?!!! BTW when I was 18 yrs old, many moons ago, I had a Saturday job in a chocolate shop in central London. Ooh it was wonderful! We frequently had American basket ball players from the hotel opposite buying chocolates by the ton and sending them home.

Your daughter sounds perceptive about your pain! I bet she will be rallying to look after you after the op. Best wishes and look forward to hearing from you in your recovery.
Karen

All the best with number 2 @2 for Jeff ! Soon to be even more bionic. See you on the other side!

Jefffffffffrrrrrreeeeyyyyy, you are alive! Haven't heard from you in so long, I thought you had already go in the hospital! So another hip bites the dust tomorrow....Yahoo in a couple of months, no one will be able to stop you from movin and groovin! Hey just in time for the new season of Vikings next week.....aaahhhhh, all that and a new hip, life doesn't get any better when you add chocolate to the mix!

Anyway, get back on the iPad and i can keep up with on your progress.

Hugs from very snowy Ottawa

Cheryl

@2 for Jeff , Good look on your 2nd hip surgery tomorrow!!! Very exciting times to look forward too! Maybe you can do a video for Bonesmart after your second recovery describing your 8 years of agony and your life after surgery to help others as well!

@2 for Jeff best of luck for surgery #2. I am a little over 3 weeks from having my second hip done(first one was last Sept.) you are going to love having no more bone on bone pain and really appreciate how strong your first hip feels.

Jeff,

Good luck tomorrow.

Mark

Thank you to all of you for having a shoulder to lean on. No matter how tuff I think I am, it's still not easy to surrender yourself to the gurney.
Look at me! It's almost 1:00am and I'm finally going to sleep. My check in time is 10am and my operation is scheduled for 1pm.
So here we go again, no food until Saturday morning. Yikes! Okay, I'll try not to think about it, MUCH!
Did I mention no food until Saturday? And my last meal was at 5pm on Friday. Talk about will power.
Anyway you guys and gals have been my strength.
Goodnight, talk to you soon.
Oh my goodness! Who just said they use to work In a chocolate shop? Was that you Karen?
That would be a hard job for me to keep.

Feeling great!!!!!!!
Watching season one of Vikings again here on my gurney.
I have until 9 pm to urinate otherwise it's the catheter for me, I'm good though, I have to go right now. ( pee pee)
A little numb on my stomach area but I just spoke to my anesthesiologist, Nigel, (awesome English accent)
He said it's because in November I had a Spinal but today they gave me an epidural.
A lot of changes today. Just had a little spat with the nurse because she tried to give me Tramadol and I told her I'm not taking it. I just don't like it.
I had an issue 6 years ago where I felt so bad afterwards and they insisted I take it . .....but I won.
Be aware of your meds. They will tell you what your about to take so pay attention. I have a sensitivity to Tramadol.

Happy to hear you made it to the other side! I had a similar experience with medication in the hospital during my first hip replacement.
