Hey there dude......now you are truly bionic. After all my bad drug reactions last time, if you can go with a Tylenol no.3 for pain, go with that first. Just keep icing my man and remberbyou will need to take a higher dose of the tylenol no. 3 to have them work. All in all you know what works best for you. Ice cream in recovery....all I can say is what, I never got ice cream just juice and crackers when I woke up for surgery.

Mark your calendar....February 19th is the premiere of the new season of Vikings! Glad to hear all went well and email me with updates. Talk to you tomorrow

Cheryl

Well done and lovely to see you so loved/missed by your cat!!

I could only take paracetamol/tynenol for pain relief and it did me fine. I was sensitive to morphine and codeine felt like I was on a fairground ride feeling sick and giddy. Nurses would not accept that this was possible and told me I was feeling like this because I was nervous of going home - what nonsense. So hope you get up and about and home to your lovely family soon!

Some virtual chocolates are on their way to you.

Welcome to the other side (again)! Sorry you are having to "educate" the staff. Stick to your guns on the meds. They were trying to force morphine on me after my second THR. No way I am spending my day nauseous! You are on your way. Let the healing begin!

@CanukTriMom Hi Cheryl:yes!: I did it again. And thanks for the heads up about one of the best tv series on television. I can't wait (Vikings) February 19th.
I wish I had the same meds as before because my recovery the first time around worked out great. So if it ain't broke don't fix it Right.
Oh well I just have to keep an eye out for the things I'm allergic or sensitive to.
Just one more day and I'll be home.
Can you believe it's 11am Saturday and I'm still in The Recovery area with 40 other patients with no room.
This place was packed yesterday. So many surgeries.
Can you imagine that? There's 40 of us waiting for a room

Jeff

All I can say to that is again, what.......the surgeon is supposed to have a room a room for you, the paying patient! What does the surgeon have to say about this as you are a candidate for any infection or illness that those 39 other people have......be very careful to hit that Purell hard! Let me know where you end up!

Cheryl

Well at 4:30pm I'm in my room and I have a bed by the window.
Here's what happened, there was a certain amount of patients scheduled to be discharged on Friday and for one reason or another only about half was discharged.
Well I'm good now. Take the good with the bad.
I'm going home tomorrow.

At least 10 people said "Hey Jeff ! How Ya been ? They remembered me from November.
I'm on the 7th floor with the same crew as last time.

Goodnight I'm so tired now

Oh Jeff - congrats to you being on the other side...a second time! They gave you ice cream in recovery....?
Chole and your wife are beautiful! So Big Jeff - literally have never had any pain medications in the past 20 years other than aspirin and aleve. Have no idea how I will respond/react to them. But, I don't think I would enjoy feeling "doped" up....I don't mind something that makes me sleep...but that's it. Do I get a choice in this decision or should I just tell the nurses? How does that work?

Thanks for the Viking endorsement. I was wondering what I would recouperate with...have been doing a Walking Dead marathon but almost finished with season 5.

So cute Almond was looking for you. Yeah...the furry ones do love us.

Sheila

@ mydog your gonna do super here at HSS. I wish I knew about their secret stash of sorbets back in November. Ooooh so good!

My daughter is the real champion of these two operations. She's not allowed out of the family waiting area for both operations. You have to be 14 or older, so she tuffs it out for 3 whole days waiting for her Daddy.

My wife and brother take turns sitting with her while the other visits with me.

I did so much walking yesterday.
3 times on the 4th floor in the
PACU ( postanesthesia care unit )
And I did the stairs twice (up and down about 5 steps with a cane)
And a full marathon of a walk around the entire 7th floor where my new room is.

Okay I'm wide awake now on Sunday morning.....it's about 1am and I just asked my nurse Richard if I can take a twilight walk around these empty hallways again.

(I actually stopped writing this email right here so I could take this stroll)

That was great,, big day for me later... I will be discharged ( just making sure I'm physically ready) And I am.
I will ask again at about 3am.

The People at the nurses station all stopped talking as I walked on by with a big smile on my face, greeting them as I passed.
I told them " graveyard shift since 1985, these are my hours, hope you don't mind ."

Hey mydog, the Walking Dead Is family viewing for Chloe, my wife and I. We never missed an episode. And I will be home tomorrow night glued to the tv for the 2nd episode of the second half of season 5.
They killed off another one of my favorite characters last week.
That's what makes that show so successful. As soon as you start to like one of the actors they have no problem bumping them off.
We are truly diehard fans, with my wife leading the way.

I think the Physicians Assistant and the anesthesiologist write the medication order for after surgery.
I had two different anesthesiologist who had different styles I guess, because the orders were different both times around. I guess they go with what they feel is safe and what they have used in the past.
If there's something that your insensitive to or allergic to they have to know. But in your case, if something makes you feel out of sorts let your nurse know.

Okay let me close my eyes again.
Talk to Ya soon

Jeff

You are a real trooper @2 for Jeff ! Hope you can get some rest. You will need you energy for the journey home.

@Jaycey Thanks Jaycey.
This time around Im prepared for a Sunday discharge.

Back in November I was discharged with a handful of paper prescriptions for my meds and ended up stuck in traffic, so my local pharmacy had already closed by the time I got there.

I remember mentioning how we had to drive around to about 4 different 24 hour pharmacies until we found one that wasn't out of stock.

Anyway this time around I will have the nurses station call the pharmacy across the street from the hospital and this is what they will do.

They will come pick up the prescriptions.

Go back and fill them.

And then deliver them to your room when it's discharge time.

So I guess 2 more session with the PT on the stairs and just wait to go home.

Come on Chloe and Wifey. Come get me
