Hi Z,

So pleased that surgery went well. Now rest, rest, and rest some more. No jumping jacks, eh ?

Good stuff John! So glad things went well. Update when you feel up to it. We are all with you on this!

Congratulations.... I hope your OS read the manual I provided and applied the encryption key, No fiddling with this hip now :)

Thanks for the email John Z15 you know I was sitting here on tender hooks waiting to hear... Hugs from down under x

Poppet,

I had multiple layers of encryption applied so that no one ever opens this hip again.

I KID... if they need to do stuff then they need to do stuff. I can hope we're all done for a long time .and then deal with other realities that arise.

I'm supposed to be released around noon today... so I'll be home for dinner!

Z

Oh Z, delighted to hear you sounding so chipper! I should have guessed that you'd be doing laps round the room as soon as you woke up from the op. There's no keeping a good man down.

Well done, you. Now I'm not going to give any advice about resting, icing, elevating because a) everyone else will do so and b) you know it all already. Slow and steady recovery now...

Cheers, Jane

PS the chemo was a breeze too.

welshjane so thrilled that you are through your first chemo shot hon!

Thinking of you always xx

Great update Z - somehow I am not surprised! No jogging for a bit, OK? :snork:

welshjane, lovely to see you here again and great news on your update! Please do keep us in the loop!

Z I wasn't around for your first surgery, but I wanted to say again that I am so inspired by your attitude and outlook on things. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.

Thanks Calikat. I have never been a terribly patient person, but having kids helped me a lot in that regard and in this type situation NOT being patient and trying to rush things will certainly lead to negative outcomes. So I work with what I've got.

And what I've got today is a REALLY swollen buttocks (or buttock...whatever the singular is :groan: )! Each surgery has brought it's own special present.

Z

Well you seem to recover so quickly. It is amazing. I am still dealing with a lot of residual pain. I am just a tad over 10 weeks out. I thought my pain would be much better at this point. It is very different than pre surgery, not as debilitating, but still significant. It gets very discouraging. But then I come and read your posts, and it inspires me to remain positive. I have gone back to work and that actually helps...at least mentally. I don't have as much time to fret about my leg hurting and not improving the way I had hoped.:tantrum:

I have no doubt that you will be on your way very quickly. Also...very interesting about the different "presents" with each surgery. Sending healing wishes your way. <3

Calikat (and everyone),

Remember...I did not have any bones cut. There is no bone healing/pain to deal with. I have some incisions and muscles getting torqued to and fro for the doc to get in and swap out parts...but I get to skip the whole bone thing this time around.

So...you're going to feel more longer, without a doubt. And my personal focus for healing THR patients is about REST. This whole healing thing takes a lot of energy and you need to listen to that message as long as you can.

Ice is important...and so are NAPS!

Z

Well Z...You can say what you want...but I still think that you are amazing. Mwah!

Hey, Z.....my gosh, man! You ARE amazing!!! I just love your approach to all that's been put on your plate. I think this is going to be just what you needed to get you back on the path to complete recovery. Try and take it a little easy for a while, okay? It's okay to milk this a little for some rest and sympathy.....:heehee:

Just remember Z - I actually have the encryption key .... to ensure you take it easy... Yes, ice is nice and so are naps :)

Poppet,
Lets just agree that for anyone to use the encryption key that you have to get past my "hip security module" that I first have to be FLOWN TO AUSTRALIA to have you enter the code.

If you are ok with that then so am I!!

I'm not going to rush the healing (it's going to heal at it's own pace) But I do have shoulder surgery next month for which I want to be as healed as possible. So far I am doing the exercises and ice and things are going great. Swelling is coming down to a level that seems more typical of the other surgeries. In-home PT swung by and could not detect any limp....

Z

Hi John, so glad things are going well! Geez - shoulder surgery next! Will you be off crutch(es) by then? Tis the season of healing for you I guess. Keep up the great (positive) attitude,

I think I would prefer you come visit us for a holiday John... rather than for another surgical procedure... :) Z15
