Well been to see the Physio (what a hunk) He was very pleased with my progress and has given me a couple of additional excercises to do. Says I should walk each day for a while with one crutch but only in the house. I will see him again after Christmas. My muscles certainly do ache now after he put me through my paces. Hope everyone else is having an "up" day:dancy:

Glad the physio went well, make sure you do some ice and elevate now. It sure doesn't hurt that he is a looker. Have a Great Day

Great news Casey and it is always nice to have a little eye candy around. My doctor recommended three 10 minute walks a day as soon as I hit 50% weightbearing. It makes a big difference.

Well, went to the supermarket this morning and managed to walk about half way round before I asked my OH to find me a wheelchair. Was very pleased with this outing and met a few old friends on the way and had a little chat. Came home, had lunch and then elevated, iced and rested for a couple of hours. My dressing has fallen off and my scar is looking very good, just a couple of steri strips and absolutely no bruising. In fact I have had no bruising at all anywhere which I find amazing on my very fair skin as I normally bruise quite easily. Walking around this afternoon with one crutch and in fact walked across the kitchen with nothing when I left it behind me after making coffee. I will be taking it easy the next couple of days, I may try to sit and do a bit of ironing tomorrow as my OH is no good at that. Hope everyone else is having a good and comfortable day:dancy::egypdance:

I didn't have any bruising, either.

Well, not until I made that smart-aleck remark to my wife ...

I also had no bruising, but no would attempted to whack me as my crutches have a longer reach. You are doing great Casey and are pacing yourself well. It gets harder as we do recover because we start to try to push the envelope, and end up laying down, going oh wy did I do that. Slow and Steady wins the race.

I hate 6.00 pm having to give myself those damned injections be glad when they come to an end. The last one will be on Christmas Day. I just have to keep thinking that they are very very good for me. !!!!!!! :sigh:

What a nice Christmas present...no more injections. Those things are the pits. I just finished with mine this week (Monday). I had them for four weeks. Great job on getting out and walking around the store. You are doing great.

Had a really bad day yesterday I was very emotional had a few crying fits and snapped at my OH. No particular reason so assume its post op blues. Went to bed early and slept for 8 hours straight. Did take some extra medication before going to bed. Hope today is a better one.

Hi Casey

The post op blues hits most of us at some stage, my GP told me it is a known medical symptom, following major surgery.. It passes hon, it came in waves for me, so just had a good cry and felt sorry for myself, next day I felt better..

Tomorrow is another fresh start.. So pleased you had a decent sleep.. Makes such a difference.. It gets better with time.

Casey, unfortunately the blues come to all of us in one form or fashion. My hubby seemed to be snapping at me one day (this man has been a saint through this whole process) and I remember standing at the stove with tears steaming down my face. I had a good cry, talked it out with him, and was able to move on. Come to think of it I might have had a little PMS thrown in for good measure, but you know it's good for us gals to have a good cry every now and again. Otherwise there might be more man carnage lying about! :)

Glad you're feeling better!

Oh, yes. A few weeks after my surgery, I was in the kitchen and DH (didn't stand for dear husband at the time) made some snarky remark. I sobbed for a long time. I was just so tired and so tired of feeling like an invalid. He was so tired of doing what I usually do. After about 5 minutes and some talking all was fine again. It happens. And will happen again -- maybe not to you or me, but to someone else with a fresh hip. Thanks to this forum, it was not unexpected and I knew it wasn't unusual. Thank you again, Bonesmart.

I've had a couple of those days as well. It's easier knowing that it's normal to feel off and irritable and tearful - I can just let it happen and then let it go. I hope you had a good day today.

Casey, I too have had those post-op blues. Problem is, I go from crying my eyes out to wanting to rip my husband's eyes out . Fortunately, this forum has helped me to realize that it is normal to have your emotions bounce all over the place. Remember, it is not illegal to think about holding a pillow over your S/O's face.....

Casey, I'm 4 weeks post-op tomorrow and have had a pretty bad time with the blues the past 2 weeks... I'm on a weight-bearing restriction 10-20% for 6 weeks (2 weeks to go!) and the frustration of being so helpless has made me feel really down. I almost ended my relationship in a fit of rage and tears last week! I'm not sleeping well, I think that hasn't been helping. But I do believe it will pass. One thing this forum is great for = realising it's all part of the game, and many others are experiencing the same thing.

Thanks to everyone who replied to me about the blues. :thankyou: Today has been very interesting, I had a frantic phone call from my boss this morning that my replacement had "mucked up" the quarterly VAT return and the Banking and the Salaries for this month and was it possible for me to help. Went to work expecting to be there for a couple of hours and ended up being there for 7 hours. I am surprised at how good I feel, obviously tired and may pay for it tomorrow. My OH drove me over there and luckily took a book with him to read whilst I sorted all the problems out. I have a great sense of achievement and also told my boss he could show his appreciation with a good Christmas Box !!!!!

Hey Casey; I am about 5 days ahead of you. Glad to hear thatyou are doing well. I did my LTHR on Novemebr 24, 2012. My pain management was tramacet 4 times daily and acoxia once a day. My pain meds are finished. I have started physio with minimal pain. Take care and hope recovery goes well

casey You've proved your worth, now take your rest! But nice that a bit of work cheered you up? I'm really missing my work....I teach, miss my students a lot.
