@LFitz. From NS to Texas is quite the contrast! I have a daughter in Austin but I have never visited in the summer, which lasts months and months.

I live in the Austin suburbs about 25 miles north :) summers are hot for sure but sometimes you get that awesome breeze and feels great! You really should visit her but wait until the fall or better yet the spring when the beautiful wild flowers are out in the hill country.

Sounds like a very good plan. I've only ever gone in late winter and have run into cold snaps there....freezing cold.

Happy Canada Day @mamazipp Hope you are having a good day and are able to enjoy the festivities. Love from the CanAm (Canadian/American) :cheers:

Well, thank you!!! @LFitz. And the same to you, although you are far from your "home and native land". My daughter from Austin is actually visiting now, so she had a chance to celebrate as well. Fireworks, parade, the works. Although, it was pretty cold today and I ended up with a sweater and a jacket both!!!!! Victoria summers are not so different than NS summers. Short and sweet and late in arrival.
Love to CanAM. From AmCan.:friends::kayak:

I just can't seem to get that last little bit of extension, to zero. I am, however, beginning to do stairs alternating legs with minimal pain and grimacing. I know it's a yearlong journey, maybe more, but I wonder how I'll get there.

Reading your post, I am struck by your inner strength and resolve to get better. From your first to last post, I hope you realize that you are better! Sometimes we can't see it ourselves because we are trying so hard both physically and emotionally. The emotions can play mean tricks on us by questioning our every move and doubting what we know deep inside to be true. Do make time each day to do something that makes you feel good about yourself, maybe wearing your favorite earrings or getting a new haircut. I'm sending you a hug and telling you that you will get there.

@TML. Thank you for your kind words. You are right that it's hard to see our progress in perspective. Aiming for a positive event every day is a good plan. I can do that. And, yesterday, I got a haircut! At the time of surgery I had my hair cut very very short and all the color cut off, so I'm now getting used to gray/white hair. Now that's an adventure!
Thanks for your supportive words. They mean a lot.

You are so welcome. I'm glad I could help. Today my positive event is to wear my most favorite earrings with a pretty blouse when a friend comes by to visit. What is yours?

:wowspring:

So funny - I also made a big change with my hair before surgery. I've colored it my natural color, a medium brown, for many years and decided I wanted to go platinum blonde. Wow - it was different but I love it and I've gotten many compliments that it goes with my fair complexion and blue eyes. Now, when my grey/white roots grow out, I will highlight with platinum 3-4 times a year. Much easier, especially now while in recovery mode.

TML I love the part about your earrings, I was the same way. I felt more like myself when I finally wore a pair of earrings with my outfit - even though the outfit was a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt I felt awesome :rotfl: Change is good and a great pick me up during this recovery.
mamazipp I bet your hair feels great cut short again and hey there is something to be said not having to keep coloring our hair. But I'm not ready for that yet hehe. When the skunk patch rears its ugly head I'm grabbing a box :snork:

Funnily enough I put my best gold stud earrings in today, just to make myself feel better and my home hairdresser is coming next Monday, these little things can make a big difference.

Well, OK @TML I will accept the challenge of a positive event. I think I will put on some earrings (haven't bothered to since surgery) for my condo's weekly Friday get together on the back lawn. Everyone drinks and drinks......but I stick to Pepsi...but we have snacks and goodies. Today is sunny and warm, at last, so a good day for a social event. Your platinum hair is gorgeous and suits you beautifully. Also much easier when it grows in, too.

@LFitz it was a big deal to go white/gray. I've been doing my hair, with highlights, for years and really prefer it, but when the roots showed I would have a white crown around my head....not a pretty sight. One must go regularly and it became a hassle and expense. We will see. Maybe I will embrace it, maybe I'll go back. It's certainly easier to just go for a cut and style.

@Tabbycat how fortunate to have a home hairdresser. That is the life when getting around is so hard. Enjoy those gold studs.

I just realized we're talking about normal things! There is life besides knees. Wow!

As you can see, I have changed my avatar to show me, instead of Bella, the cat. Hopefully my white hair shows its glory. That is my positive moment for this day. Thanks to all who showed me another way today.

:dancy::flwrysmile: :yay:

I think the colour and style very flattering. What breed is Bella, she has a beautiful tail!

@Tabbycat thank you.

:kittymilk: Bella is a rescue/abandoned cat. She looks like a regular tabby cat but has a bushy tail like a bobcat. I just got her about a month ago. She is a long term foster cat.

She's gorgeous. I'm glad you rescued her. My two were abandoned as well but fortunately taken in by a Cat Protection foster mum at two weeks old. I'm forever grateful to her. So many of us are pet lovers! :kittykiss:

I love that people rescue kittens and feed them around the clock. Awesome. I've had a few rescue cats, many need meds but Bella doesn't.

I'm getting a haircut Tuesday morning that I'm going to drive to all by myself! It will be my first alone outing. When I get home I'm coloring my, too. I use dark blonde. It hasn't been done since the surgery, but with this color the grow out doesn't look too bad. But, I'll feel much better when it's done.

@mamazipp you look stunning! I love the cut and am so happy you changed the avatar so we can see you. Maybe we're onto something that is important in recovery - talking about 'normal' things.

@LoveGiants i appreciate the compliment. It took a lot of courage to change but I was so ready. I'm humming that song 'Girls just want to have fun! Maybe I should change the words to, 'TKRs just want to have fun!.

@sistersinhim haircuts are the best, especially if they do a head massage.

@Tabbycat and @LFitz there's something wonderful about wearing beautiful earrings!
Let's all accept the challenge to keep a positive event going each day.
