Day #19 - Enjoying my new recliner. It is very comfortable and goes nearly flat. Cleaned up dog poo from the back yard this morning, came in and iced for an hour, then went out for lunch. I drove for the first time becaause I had taken no oxycodone today. Walking about without a cane or my walker and doing pretty well.

Still having a lot of discomfort in all my other joints and can't wait until I can take some real action against that pain. Had a bit of trouble sleeping last night because of them - not from my new knee. I can lie on my side now but not for more than a few minutes, then it starts to hurt. I am getting to the point that my new left knee sometimes is almost as good as my old right knee.

I'm going to go take some oxycodone now and ice.

So good to hear. I envy the new chair! Not too long now until two good, strong knees.

What a positive recovery! Thank you for all of the details. It helps! I also developed a sore spot like that. My mom said it was more likely just a spot the blood had settled/bruised. She first made sure it wasn't a clot though.

You are doing amazing in your recovery, make sure you don't over do it and have a setback, I sure was not able to do all you are doing at just over 2 weeks, and driving too, wow!!!

@FlaGranny sounds like you are progressing very well. Trying not to be jealous or compare myself but I feel like a bit of a slacker. I am 23 days out and have no desire to eat out or drive. Happy for you and encouraged by your progress.

Very, very encouraging !! :)

Sometimes I'd like to just do nothing, but I remember a story here of someone (?) who recovered quickly and was doing things because she HAD to. I tell myself that resting, although that's what I want to do, is not all that good to do too much of. Better be up and moving around a bit. The first few rides in the car were uncomfortable because the seat hits my leg right where the tourniquet made the muscles so sore. Still a little uncomfortable but improving.

I am not overdoing it at all, but I try to do at least one thing every day. So far, so good. I've had no repercussions so I guess I'm not overdoing it. I'm trying my best to walk correctly, but that's very difficult since those muscles around the knee are so sore. PT told me to be careful and not walk stiff legged so I'm working on that.

Hopefully, this new left knee will be able to take over a bit more by the time I get my new right knee.

Some of the glue is coming off my incision and my incision really looks good, just a thin fine line. I think it will be barely visible when it completely heals.

The only pain I have in my knee is an infrequent sharp intermittent pain next to my kneecap, and the sore muscles. No aching or throbbing and usually the knee is comfortable. Can't say that for my other joints.

@FlaGranny
My other joints are the same way, especially neck and foot. Knee is pretty much OK. I'm 3 months out. Looking forward to even more movement and less pain. Never thought I'd be the one saying it feels mostly ok!

@thecoll
I got my appetite back after about a month, but I still can't eat as much and food sometimes does not taste that good. Yours should be coming back shortly!

Same thing with me for walking, Flagranny. My left leg had become completely stiff since Feb. I had developed an odd rolling gait, and have to walk very slowly and deliberately to remember that this knee now can flex and bend. Takes me several steps to get the motion right, and am leaning too heavily on the walker, but it's exciting to feel the knee flexing, even with all the painful damaged tissue around it. How is your other knee responding? So far, mine is reacting well to getting a new horse in harness with it. Rightie still will have to go, but it's coming through like a champ for now.

@sistersinhim at least those are good for you, in moderation, of course...I have been craving hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts, I have not given in yet, but I can just feel my willpower weakening :bignono:

Oh no, not donuts! If you have to give in, maybe you can at least go with whole wheat! They're not totally bad! I'm still on the ice cream kick, too! I have got to get back on my diet. Boring!!

I'm so sorry I messed it up for you! Go for your cravings. You deserve it!

Ya, I had ice cream last night for dinner and pizza tonight. This has got to stop soon! The weight is piling on.

Nothing much in the way of food is tempting to me yet. Food is just not appealing. The things I have wanted are ice cream, milk shakes, and hamburgers. What a diet that is!!! I also got some pineapple chunks which I am enjoying and are good for digestion.

@greatlakes My right knee crunches and sometimes painful, but the knees are getting closer to being the same. Actually, the right knee is rested more than it used to be before surgery so it is not as bad. When my left is as good as the right the second surgery will be okay. Hoping that happens within 3 weeks. Regarding my gait, I consciously have to think about it with both knees. Bend the knees - don't waddle.

Edit to my previous post - NOT 3 months out - 3 WEEKS out.
