I hope you have found some relief and are feeling better!!!

Day #9 I haven't been able to post for a couple of days. I guess there has been a problem with the web site. PT came to my house on Monday. He had me do some exercises and I was able to do straight leg raises for the first time (day #7). He doesn't touch me at all. Just tells me what to do and makes sure I'm doing them right. It was too much because I suffered the next day. He came again today and I told him that and he just had me do a couple. My left big toe and my foot are giving me grief for some reason. My back gets painful too. Can't lie on either side yet.

I can hang my leg from the side of the bed and reach 90 degrees. Not sure what my extension is at this point. I would guess about 8. The swelling is still moderate. Best thing though, is that I'm sleeping 7 or 8 hours straight through with the help of Tylenol PM.

I had a couple of bad days, today has been better. I see the OS on Friday and I mean to ask him about the rest of the aches and pains. If I didn't have those I'd feel much better.

Looks like you are moving in the right direction, you are able to sleep, that's Great!!!

At not even two weeks post-op I'd say you are doing really great! Keeping the Bonesmart mantras in focus will certainly make your angry soft tissue days much easier! Keep up the good recovery you're having! Love it that your PT is respecting your wishes, keep making them known as you continue w/ therapy. Hoping your aches & pains subside soon!

Day #11 (I think!) Nurse just came. Took all vitals, etc. Everything good except for the rapid heartbeat. I'm able to get around the house without a walker or a cane (tiny house). I'm taking 2 oxycodones at bedtime and 2 when I get up in the morning. Then I take 1 every 4 to 6 hours. Food doesn't taste right and I've not regained much of an appetite. I guess this is a side effect of the pain medication.

Wow another one who can walk without walker or cane. I am only 2 days behind you and cant take 2 steps without my my walker the pain all over the area is just too sore.

I hear you on the assorted other aches n pains. Just adds to the whole challenge of this huh?

Day 11 - I would probably be using the walker in the house because it does help with using a more normal gait, but in my tiny house there was just too much maneuvering it and it was a pain. I'll be using it today, going for my followup appointment. Hope it goes well. I intend to ask him about my back and foot. If I could lie on my side it would probably help.

Your sleeping at night is outstanding! Most of us had an awful time sleeping at night for months. I still have those nights sometimes. It sounds like what you're doing is right for you! Keep up the good work or the good lack of work!!

Appointment went well. I saw the PA. Incision looks good and he says I'm right on track. Said there wasn't much to do about the arthritis elsewhere until I am off blood thinners. Stopped at McDonald's on the way home, went inside, and had a milk shake. It tasted yummy. By the time I got home I was exhausted, to say the least. Had a bit of extra pain in the incision area, but I iced it for a couple of hours and it feels okay now. Pain today was 0 to 2 and up to 4 for a while after my excursion. I saw the PT earlier this morning and went through his exercise routine. He tells me to stop if it gets painful, so he doesn't try to push you past your pain threshold.

When I came home from my appointment I tried the 3 steps up to my house and did them the "normal" way.

Paula, I have always been a pretty good sleeper, but at bedtime I take 2 Tylenol PM and 2 oxycodones and I run the ice machine all night. I sleep through until I have to get up to go to the bathroom usually. As to whether I'm doing the right things, I guess - I just elevate almost constantly with ice, get up to go to the bathroom, fix some lunch, or supper. I'm doing very little of the PT.

Going up the steps the normal way and you're only 10 days out! Wow! That is absolutely amazing! You know what to do so you don't even need pt. You should be in good shape before your next replacement!
I'm sleeping some better now that I'm on the 2 Tramadol and 2 Tylenol at 9pm and then at 3 am. That is, if I don't over do during the day! If I do, then The Brat lets me know most of the night!

My insurance is paying for 6 at home PT sessions and I'm halfway through. My PT is a nice fellow, but he has no idea that I'm not doing all his exercises. I'll do the next 3 and then discontinue. I do a few exercises occasionally if I feel like it, otherwise I don't worry about it.

I have a copy of my OP. In it, the doc says ROM after implant was 130 - 0. That does not surprise me since even as a kid, I could not do a full squat, so I guess I still won't be able to, but 130 is now my goal for the new knee.

What is an op and how do you get one? I've asked questions about my surgery but all I get is "I don't remember". No one apparently willing to look it up either. Thanks.

Write to the hospital and request a copy of your operating report. They'll send it. It's fascinating! Or maybe you can do it online.

My OS office gave me a copy but you can get it from the hospital by signing a request for your document

I'm sure that during the surgery the OS didn't measure the ROM but probably eyeballed it so it might even wind up better. After my revision I am doing at 130 which totally surprised my OS because he never thought I would be able to get there. Take your time as you are doing now and who knows how far your ROM will grow over the coming year.

May be true but since I've never been able to do that "sit on my heels squat" even as a child, I doubt that I will get that far. I think my right leg is about 130 before surgery, and about a 5 extension. Those numbers are quite functional for me so if I don't get any better I won't be disappointed. If I do get better - icing on the cake.

I think you have the best attitude about it. I think we all should be thankful for what our knees have accomplished.
