TKR Feeling my new knee<

The way it works here, if I stop going, let say a week to see if it gtes better, I am not allowed to go back. That is our health plan.
That;'s an advantage for you. Don't be guilted into thinking you HAVE to have PT in order to improve. You don't. You've already proved that to yourself. It's more than apparent that your knee wants things done gently and slowly. You don't have to work hard for ROM. It's not necessary and it's often counter-productive, as you are so clearly discovering.

I recommend you read my recovery threads to see how little exercising I did!
First knee. Knee recovery - UK style
Second knee. Josephine's 2nd knee story - short version where I did even less!

From what I read here, and personal experience, professional PT, with rare exception, is a big hindrance to healing and seems to sometimes retard or slow ROM progress. IMO.

Your particular PT who is pushing you to such pain is not helping. I agree with those who said to exercise on your own if you can't find a PT who will be more gentle.

First of all, I would like to thank everybody for your support. That was important to me and after realising that you were all of the same opinion I would be a fool to not follow your advice.

Wednesday I am seeing my OS and he has given me his OK to travel. If he doesn't give it, well I would not be insured to travel anywhere and since we are going down to Florida for the winter I do need it.

So my plan was to go to my PT this morning and tell them that enough was enough and I was regressing with their method and maybe I was kind of an exception. So she had to agree with me after looking to my file. So PT was OK today.

Tomorrow I am seeing my chiropractor who is very good with PT and he will look at my knee, check my exercises and give me his opinion which I trust. Wednesday, I go back to PT because she has to give me a report for the OS. And if he gives me the OK travel it will finally be goodbye to PT.

One positive thing this weekend, we went to my sister's for dinner who lives 45min from here. The trip was not so bad and I was able to sit for a couple of hours without problem. It was my first social outing since my TKR and it did feel good.

I will be reporting after seeing the OS.

Thank you again for your support and suggestions.
Lots of hug to you all.

Christina
Ps. I don't use any emoticons because they always appear at the beginning of my text and never where I want them to go!!!

I will make sure we have the welcome mat out for you here in Florida. I love you snowbirds, and have met some of the nicest folks I know during the winters here. As a 7th generation Floridian, I am qualified to be an official greeter.

Good news about the PT. Hope the OS is cooperative after you see the chiro.

Ps. I don't use any emoticons because they always appear at the beginning of my text and never where I want them to go!!!
You have to make sure the cursor is exactly where you want the emoticons to go I sometimes make the mistake of not checking this and then I have to delete the misplaced emoticoms.

@Slainte I hope that tomorrow I will be able to tell you when to have the welcoming mat. I think that Florida is the best place to finish a recovery specially at the beach or sitting in front of the Intracoastal with a good book.

Hello everybody, Josephine, Celle, Slainte, kneeper, jmdearras, PolarBear60, Kssii, KarriB

Just returned from my OS and was told to stop PT, Youpy!!!!! continue at home and was given Lyrica/Pregabalin and wants to see me in a month.

Yesterday, I saw my chiropractor and showed him the four pages of exercices and how they were working and his response was the same, stop that craziness and gave me only 4 exercises to do.

The other good new, my OS has given me the ok to go down to Florida. Yay!!!!!

Now, I am exausted and need to have a bite and relax.

Thanks again, lots of hugs
Christina

Yay! Hooray! :yes!::happydance::yay:

It really isn't necessary to do much exercise at all to recover from a knee replacement.
I did minimal PT for 2 replacements and none at all for my last one and my knees are just fine.

:happydance:It's been a real good day. I think that for the next couple of days I will let my knee have a rest and do just a couple exercice and after that I will add some that my chiro suggested.

I just put the home pt from Bs in my favorites. So I am ready to start a new life ith my knee.

Hi, Tina....glad to hear that things are leveling out for you! It sounds like you are back on track now with the help of a couple of good doctors!

You may notice that I've edited your post slightly to remove the tags. We have specific guidelines for using our tags as you can read in this article from our How To Use This Forum section (under the Help & Info tab at the top of the page). I starded Lyrica yesterday, and have to increase by 25 mg/day for three weeks (starting at 25 mg). Does anyone know how many mg is enough and how long will I have to take them.

I tagged Josephine in to your question on the Lyrica on my thread. I'm sure she will have an answer for you. She's very helpful and a very good support x what Josephine doesn't know about knees is not worth knowing. You are in good safe hands x

@Nana moon 27 thank you so much for answering. There must be a bug somewhere.

I'll wait for Josephine. I starded to read your thread from page one and I am at page 12. I just hope it keeps on going well for you, we are just a day apart.

For my part, i am still not out of the wood yet and patience is not one of my virtue but i still have hope and work at it every day.

Tina

You can call your doctor's nurse if you are unsure of the dosage. Or the pharmacist if you don't understand what's on the bottle.
