Yep, I so agree Jo..... Anyone would think I am inventing a new language... Ozzie talk like!!

iPads have lots of uses, writing my short novels on them are not one!!

By the way, I lived in Southend for two years, spent a lot of time in Narfolk!

:th_heehee: Never! And you write too? So do I do (apart from these mini novels on BoneSmart!)

I think from memory there is a lane named after me - Sandy Lane, Cromer? We loved Norfolk, used to go to Norwich for work meetings from Southend..

Welcome back Jane, glad it went well.

I suspect you didn't have an epidural, because you don't need one with a GA, it's normally one or the other. Did you mean that you had a femoral block, which goes in your hip?
Hi I had my THR on Dec 8th and I also had an epidural and a GA.My Anesthetist told me that the op is easier to perform because the epidural lowers blood pressure and so less blood is lost during and after the op. Don't know why a GA too but then you wouldn't want to be awake would you? I had no bruises or swelling after the op until after 8 days the effects of the blood thinner meant swollen leg/hip each time I stayed upright for more than a couple of hours. That felt really horrid but it did force me to keep resting.Very clever....

Sandy, there must be a hundred or more "Sandy Lanes" in the UK, also thousands of North Streets, High Streets, Front Streets, Bridge Roads - you name it. UK never was known for it's originality! I know this because I have been compiling a mailing list of GP surgeries for a BS mail shot. So far I have over 6,000 addresses and I'm not even half way yet! :th_heehee:

Dear all,

I'm going to bow out of the Bonesmart forum until when and if my 2nd hip replacement is scheduled. At present I have another issue to deal with that is nothing to do with hips. But before I go I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for being so supportive, not just of me, but of each other. It has been a truly uplifting experience to be a part of your community, and there are some really lovely people here.

As for me, I'm nearly 6 weeks out now, and all is going well. I haven't been terribly good about resting, even tried driving (which was fine) a few days ago, though hubby has now taken the car to the body shop so I'm wheel-less again. Movement is pretty much OK, my gait needs some improvement but I've scheduled to go and see the physio on Monday for some exercises and advice. I've started back at what I laughably call work (it's home based and more like fun), Tai Chi starts again tomorrow, and I'm going to go back to swimming when I get the car back. So on the hip front it's all pretty rosy. I hope that the friends I've made here are making similar good progress.

Bless you all.

Jane

Jane, so glad to hear BoneSmart has helped you. I understand the need to focus in a different place for a while. But you will be welcomed back here any time (surgery scheduled or not) with open arms. You are one of our family now! Good luck to you.

Dearest Jane

I will miss your presence on the forum, but you are still part of the BS family and I understand the need to focus on other aspects of life.

I am pleased your hip is progressing well and I am sure with your positive attitude it will continue to improve.

I will start my pool work tomorrow, Saturday, so will be thinking of you when I take the first step into the pool.

All my love, hugs and warm fuzzies are speeding across the miles to you Jane.

Lots of love, Sandy xxxx

Hello Jane,

Wish I could be as brave as everyone else and say ok and byeeeeee.....I'm going to miss you (booooohooooo)!

Thank you for your kind words and support during our surgeries, it really was appreciated! There is something very magical about this website and the lovely personalities behind the names, I feel like I know each of you personally and I've enjoyed the journey so far! I do hope you will pop in once in a while to say hello, I'm sure my postings will slow down as we all settle back into a normal routine.

Sending you lots of love, hope your recovery goes quickly and your next visit will be to say your going on long walks its Susie and loving life!

Don't be a stranger for too long...all the best!

Sarah

Hi Jane, are you still online?
Sent you a PM and emails

Hi Jane,

All the best to you. You have encouraged others here and I hope when you return we can all encourage you just as much. Take care.

Thanks, Dianemarie. As you can probably tell I haven't actually disappeared, as I'm still occasionally contributing to other people's threads when I think I can help out a bit, but I haven't continued my own because my hip is healing very well and the health issues I have are not to do with that, so I don't want to bore everyone with irrelevant stuff. I'll be back when the 2nd THR is scheduled, though. I get to see the OS's chief physio on 1st Feb, so I might have some news then. No, I don't get to see the great man himself apparantly - that's the NHS for you!

Hi Jane

Good news about getting your appointment, number two hip could be on the way soon?

Hugs xx

Hi Jane,

I feel so simple right now.....I was convinced Susie was a doxie...Dachsund! Well duh I was a little off right, she has the longest legs hahahahah! Sorry it was her face she has a very cute almost doxie looking type of a face plus she was laying down in her last picture. By you putting up the new photo is her leg better now? Hope so!

Hope you are well :)

xxooxx

I thought the same thing Sarah! I was certain Susie was a dachsund. Hope her leg is better and although you're feeling good Jane im glad to see youve stuck around some :thumb:

Hi Jane, how did you go with the appointment for hip #2..?
Just to let you know I have been thinking of you xx Sandy

Thanks for visiting my thread, folks. The good news is that I have a date! Went to see the chief physio this morning, she was very pleased with THR no. 1, called in the Prof (my OS) who was next door, he came in and asked the physio, 'is she ready?' She said yes, so he said he'd give me a matching pair, and scheduled the second one then and there - 27th March, in the evening. I did mention that I had to be up and active in July for the Royal Welsh Show, where I will be demonstrating making soap, lip balms, face creams etc, whereupon he threatened to delay till the autumn, as that would be quite demanding on a new hip. However, I pointed out that right now he's only done half the job and I'm in limbo till he finishes it, so he relented. I did tell him I'd been singing his praises on this forum and elsewhere, and pointed out that people found his recommendation for complete rest very peculiar, but that it hadn't actually delayed my recovery at all. He replied that he didn't have any scientific evidence for this recommendation, but that, in his experience, it worked.

Now, Sarah and Buffi, Susie wants you to know that she's very upset that you thought she was a daschund! She's half German Shepherd and half Border Collie, and the German Shepherd half is very cross indeed at being mistaken for a small dog, even though I can see why you might have thought she was, from the other photo where she was lying down. Yes, thank you, her leg is much improved. While I was at the hospital John took her for a 2.5hr walk along the Shropshire Way with no ill-effects, so I think we can stop the anti-inflamms now.
