Oh, if most if your music is from cd's, it would be super easy to just use something like windows media player to "rip" the tunes to mp3 format.

Have fun at your pre op class. You know you probably will be able to answer most of the other patients questions. You are very prepared.

I enjoyed my class, I hope yours is informative, too.

Love girls who are tech geeks :). I work in tech and it's fun.

I'll check out the waterproof player. I use my shuffle for my bike since I can clip it on my jersey. I need to find some small bluetooth headphones so I can stream music from my iPhone.

Before retiring, I worked in tech most of my career. My last 12 years I was a tech trainer, teaching operating systems like windows & linux as well as web development and graphics. Loved it. Have always been drawn to tech stuff ;-)

Very cool! I'm a user experience/interface designer. I love it—quite a challenge and very interesting.

Haha, ya, you guys, make us guys
"Look good"

Ok im off to class, lets see if I learn anything :)

Sitting in class. How many are here? Including me? Umm let me count.. Ok ONE!

NO instructor, no other students... Just called, im in the right place, seems I'm the only one enrolled.. Hmm

Individual instruction! You can be free to ask and say anything. In my class there was at least 30 of us with no sitting room left. Enjoy being special!

Ok home from class. One other couple did show up. A 48 yo woman, having her 2nd tkr, came with her husband. We stayed after and chatted. She said she had the bad pain for about a month post op , but now 3 months later doing pretty well, ready for knee #2. She was also quite overweight and lots of other medical issues. She also had a THR a year ago, that she (unlike me) did very with that. I told her about bonesmart, so she may show up. Her surgery is next week and we are going to keep in touch.

Now the class. They stressed the PT stuff, bad outcome if you don't participate, bla bla. But the part that concerned me, was how much they stressed keeping the leg straight and no pillow under the knee, or when elevated which I know is contrary to what Bonesmart success stories, have shown time & time again. They said my Dr is very adamant about this. So I guess we shall see how this plays out.

Found out he does use Exparel as well as femoral block, so some comfort there.

Ok that is checked off my to do list. Now we are heading to our lovely beachhouse for a few days to relax and clear my head, then start the countdown to the next steps towards this adventure.

Have fun at the beach house! The hospital where I had my revision would only let me keep my leg straight. It was very swollen and it seemed to hurt more than my knee. At my first check up with the PA I mentioned that to that to the PA and she was very surprised. I'm not sure if she ever did anything about it for future patients but I know I will have OS order it if I need my other knee done. Needless to stay I had my knee elevated as soon as I got home!

I was the only one in my class - I loved it that way. I think she said they do it that way - I could interrupt and ask anything I wanted to. Course, being out patient it's possible they did not have many classes to do in order to have a crowd. Don't recall her mentioning PT to me though. I think it was pretty much left up to me - pretty sure I didn't even have to use their PT department. Glad you are able to relax and clear your head first. I would have liked that!

@newlybionic Elevation wasn't the issue, it was elevation with leg straight as opposed to the slight bend recommend here. She said if you don't keep it straight, while elevated you would not have a good outcome. Hmm?

The hospital I went to did give me a hard time even when I told the nurse to look how swollen my leg and foot was. It may just be something to discuss with your doctor preop and show him a picture of the stacked pillows for elevation. He can put an order in the chart. Like my OS he might not even be aware of what they are doing.

Well they knew my os and said he is very adamant about elevation with straight leg only

Have someone bring you a pillow from home. Make sure you have a print pattern so they know it's yours. Stick it under your knee when no one is looking and pull up the blanket.
