..125ish as that is the movement range of my prosthesis....0-130,

Hi Sue, Good that your check up went well. Really pleased for you. I was surprised to read the above. I thought that all the TKR hardware was capable of the full range of movement. That what inhibited movement was soft tissue. Did the OS give you an explanation as to why he chose a prosthesis with limited movement range? But thinking about it 0-130 is very very acceptable. Carol

I think the OS and hospital use whatever prosthesis they feel happiest with, and there are quite a few small differences, type, materials etc. I believe the one I have is the most commonly used one in the UK.
My ROM pre-op was 130-135, so I'm happy really with 120+ I was told no need for physio now, just keep active using the knee and stretching it. I have an ancient exercise bike from Freecycle that I use.
I always have wibbly wobblies about things Carol, all is good and well :dancy::spin::bicycle1:

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Sue, Just wanted to stop by your page and see how you're doing. Hope things are going well on your end. Don't hurt nobody with all that ROM you got going on over there. You DO know that Russian dance troop will be coming for you shorting. They need a lead performer. :dancy:

I think your numbers are great and like everyone says, you'll gain more with time. I just hope the "everone's" are not related to the "they said people," because the "they said people" tend to miss the mark w/the weather. :umm:As you can tell my meds are working right nicely. :egypdance:As I type this post in Dr Seuss form. :giggle:

Yesterday I was wide awake, now I can barely keep my eyes open, let alone hold up my head. :thud: Think it's time to crash! :bicycle2:Not THAT kind! More like this  some of this, :sleep:and a whole lot of this

Have a Kneeeasy day!

Hi, it's pretty hopeless taking a ROM out to play, it doesn't do them any good does it.:bicycle2:

Keep taking the meds, Bionic woman2 we'll get there, where I'm not sure but we're sure to arrive one day.:bicycle1:

Well Sue, I'm stuck in the house with my teenage son screaming at the top of his lungs into his XBox live mic, this is gonna be a great day! :skep: The good news is, it's about to rain, so I won't be missing anything outdoors. The sound of the rain, along with my meds will give me a niiiiiice little nap. Maybe the power will go out temporarily so he can SHUT UP! :gaah:But then that'll mess with my ice supply, so we can't have that. lol

Guess it's going to have to be a "Lucy in the Sky with Oxycodone" getaway today. :egypdance:

Take care lady, now I'm really gonna crash. :thud:

we'll get there, where I'm not sure but we're sure to arrive one day.

chuckle. I've often thought this. I was out the other day with the kid I look after now and then. We got on a bus (he's a well off kid who's more used to Porches than Buses). He said `Carol, how does the bus driver know where we are going?'.

Where ever our destination is its going to be mighty crowded when we all get there. I bags the comfy seat. No arguments. I have suffered the most. Tis true I tell you. C

I'm trying to let my brain take the initiative with stairs, I'm OK going down leg after leg on a good day but going up without thinking, I go up lobsided so that the outside of my knee and banister take the weight off the previously painful part of the joint (medial side). Now I'm gently practicing going up the bottom step, that is the shallowest, with the operated knee and down again with the good knee, doing it with a straight approach, just one step.

I had my final physio today (4 months post op), although can ring or pop in for advice any time. My therapist said what I'd been thinking.....my knee was very swollen pre-op, for 2 years it just never settled through arthroscopies and injections. He reassured me, his support through this journey has been invaluable every step of the way, that it just takes longer to settle for some people. Some folks come out of the op with very little swelling, for others, it's the way their body copes and hopefully it should settle within a year/18 months. His advice was stay with the icing, give it time and anti-inflammatories won't really help much.
ROM measured at 120 by both PT and consultant and realistically that's as much as I'll probably achieve.
I've been so fortunate with my consultant, physiotherapist and of course with finding BoneSmart!

Good news Sue! 18 months will put you right on target for our BIG DANCE NUMBER! :egypdance::egypdance: Remember we have you down for the Russian squat dance! :rotfl:

Hey! guess who just had a piece of chocolate at Midnight!!!! :happydance: MmmHmm, it was deeeelicious. I thought about your thread title when I realized that it was after midnight. BAD GIRL! ... Who's BAD! :loll:
What will I do next!? WATCH OUT! :giggle:

Hopefully you're getting a good night's sleep:sleep: ... unlike SOMEBODY I know. :mcoffee:

Hi Sue, great to read your excellent report from your physio. You have such a good attitude and are making excellent progress.
Things will just slowly keep getting better.
Sorry to hear that you have other Heath issues.
Please take care and stay in touch,
Hugs, Toothfairy x  :yes!:

Josephine my whole leg is really swollen, non operated knee 15 ins circum operated 17ins. Ankle very swollen. I'm doing very little, really almost nothing but elevating, icing and resting. It's never been this swollen, please do you have any ideas? I'm taking paracetamol or co-codamol 8/500 2 or 3x a day, little pain, 0-3. I do have a new script for Celebrex.....a month's supply. Haven't started yet as only received today. I'm finding walking difficult now, very tiring to walk outside.
Am thinking if it doesn't improve make an appointment with consultant again. I do have an overall lymph gland swelling as well, quite considerable, neck/groin, ENT consultant referral following ultrasound scan, but swelling now more widespread than it was then.
The knee and the PM implant look pale and not infected.
Does this ring any bells? Something feels not quite right. It may be a viral infection, I don't know, no-one else is ill here.
Thank you,
Sue.

Sounds like you could do with being sent to a lymphoedema clinic.

Sounds miserable Sue, poor you,
I hope they can get to the bottom of it soon and get you sorted out,
Hugs

Josephine Thank you so much for that, it puts a different light on things.
The operated leg is the one where the varicose veins have returned too, they are quite bad around the knee. I had the varicose veins removed in both legs 10 years ago.
Sue.

Whole leg/foot now so swollen I'm going via 111 to out of hours at the local hospital. I don't even think it's worth going to the hospital where I had the op, not sure, as it seems a general lymph gland problem.

Hello Sue,
How did you get on at the out of hours at the hospital?
I hope they have been able to offer some help.
Thinking about you and hoping all is well, hugs, Toothfairy x :console2:

Well, that makes sense and would have been useful information when I replied to you, but it confirms what I said. Do let us know what comes of your visit.

Dear Sue,

I hope you are doing better. When you can please let us know how you are doing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Take care!

Hello Sue, Really worried about you. Your last post said you were going to see the doctor prior to your 111 call. I am hoping that he was able to help and that you are just taking a well earned rest. Whenever you feel up to it I'd love to hear from you - but do it in your own time. My very best wishes. Carol
