it's been suggested the problem is with the patella as in arthritic degeneration of.....I had it trimmed down for want of a better expression but not resurfaced.
Sorry you are having all these problems with your TKR.
I wonder why they did not resurface your patella? They trimmed it down indicating there must have been some level of arthritis?
Glad you are pretty well otherwise and your hips are OK.

Thanks Chris.
It was such a relief to hear about my hips, I really wasn't looking forward to hip replacements! My bone density is relatively good too, I understand. I've got an appointment now for the Isotope Scan but it's whilst we're away so I've got to reschedule it......I booked way back in Jan to go to St Petersburg, Russia just for 6 nights.

It's painful and walking is difficult, I can't now go upstairs leading with the right leg, it's too painful to bear my weight. I seem to have a slight vertical break of the greater trochanter, this is consistant with cancer bone metastasis
I think that about says it all, I'm afraid.

It was most likely just an osteophyte around the rim which often happens. Evidently there could have been no evidence of arthritic changes.

I have a referral to Oswestry.

Excellent news, looking forward to hearing what they think.
:heehee:, I tried to spell news, knews, spell check does not like that. :rotfl:
Knees must be on my mind!

@Josephine thank you, yes I'm putting my faith in the consultant's expertise.
@Pumpkln thank you, your support is always very much appreciated.
I have a long list of questions, I've been referred as I'm a complex case. At the moment I can walk for 1\2 mile then the pain sets in, I walk with a limp and am best with a walking stick. I have a lot of discomfort at night, I can't sleep on my side, it sets off generalised pain in the leg; I have knee pain at times and it always clicks and clunks. I now take Pregabalin that helps along with low dose co-codamol.
I have no redness or swelling and retain a really good ROM.
My cancer is controlled and my right TKR leg remains my main problem. What a conundrum!

I'm receiving excellent medical help, the knee is unstable. Coming to the end of 2 1/2 years of cancer treatment in Feb I feel in a time loop.
My mobility is decreasing all the time and I'm increasing pain meds.

Dabber,
Sorry to hear about your decreasing mobility, wish I had some answers for you.
Would a knee brace help? I know others have found them helpful, allowing them to do what they want.
Sending positive thoughts your way,

A knee brace has been mentioned. At the moment I use compression hose.
I'm hoping for a simple(ish) solution eventually.
Thank you @Pumpkln

Hello it's lovely to see you in here @Dabber

I've been catching up on your thread Ive had no alerts for it for so long then today I got one and saw how much I'd missed.

I'm so happy that your cancer is under control and you're going to the excellent hospital in Oswestry. I've only ever heard good reports from there. A few people on the caravan site have had their knees done there and they have no problem xx

Good luck and thanks for sharing your update xx

I'm now on the list for a revision of my TKR. I have hyperextension of about 10 degrees and an unstable knee. I have pain in my leg/hip can't sleep on my side or weight bear going upstairs on my right (TKR) leg or indeed walk far.
We won't know what needs doing until my knee is opened up and it may be just a poly (spacer) replacement. :praying:
The waiting list is about 18 weeks, so what can I do in the meantime....lose a bit of the weight steroids kindly encouraged, buy a cryocuff (I used ice packs last time) and recliner?
I do feel as though I'm in Groundhog Day but I'm in good spirits.
:tiredwheel:

Sorry to hear that you need a re-do on your knee. :console2:
Let's hope that it fixes the problem.

Hoping for Spacer replacement only. Just glad something is finally being done to help you with your knee.

I liked the cryocuff type deal for the first couple of weeks. But since I was mostly on my own I wound up using gel packs after a while. Sorry you have to go back in, but hoping for good results for you Dabber.
