Hi Sue :bicycle2: Just passing through as I sleepwalk. Should be asleep since today's the day for me. :scare: Yep, I'll be sitting in my classroom in less than 4 hours. :scary:

Just wanted to let you know that I was thinking of you

Hi Carol@patient 99 say hello to Peter Cottontail for me.Have you and turtle68 decided who's gonna do the Merengue number yet? :rotfl: Sue based on your recent post, I've decided you can do the Wobble. :rotfl: Google It! Carol!n :heehee:

Gotta go ladies, almost time for work. Hmmm, :umm: I wonder if I can call in sick. :rotfl: :loll: :rofsign:

Hi Sue, don't know why but I seem to be loosing track of time. Its SEEMS a while since I heard from you. How are things going?

Every day I practice dancing in my kitchen. I so want to be up for it now that christmas and new year are just around the corner. Sadly my knee is still not that good, so it still may end up that I have to do arm dancing with feet not moving. Next week I'm going to see the chap who will make me a pair of evening shoes. I've never had a pair of bespoke shoes. I am quite excited. I hope I can get them in time for christmas/new year - otherwise I will just have to paint my feet black so that they look like shoes.
What you doing for christmas? Will husband do the cooking? How many of you will there be for xmas lunch? Given that my family is so small we've decided to eat out. There's 4 of us going for a thai meal - well its different. We will have a walk along Eastbourne front. The band will be playing, so may get a dance - fingers crossed. Carol

Hi Carol,
I'm OK thanks, this cycle I've had 12 baddish days recovering from chemo and injections, now I have about 8 days when I feel a bit better and able to do a little. Our youngest started work on Monday so I said I'd try to cook a meal for him most evenings as he has a long commute....doing that is about all I manage.
I haven't started the blog I intended doing as no energy most of the time, but I write things down.
My poor long suffering husband looks after me and does a lot of "woman's" work and also has the garden...we have a good size organic fruit and veg garden.
Your Christmas sounds good. We're going to our son and daughter-in-law's, family may come to us on Boxing Day. Well once I've had my chemo next Thursday I won't feel like doing much prep. so the jury is still out on that one.
Your shoes sound wonderful, what a luxury!
We're going for our one night every 3 weeks in the hotel tomorrow, it's literally the only time I go out, except for a little walk round the block or down the garden.
My knee is OK, it doesn't like chemo but I have no alternative but to ignore it. It's only half way through the first year anyway. The bend is still good, it clunks a bit and is often a little swollen, tight band etc, I don't think I'd win any races or climb any mountains with it at the moment. I do tell it I have confidence in it improving further. I feel more stablility with it and don't automatically reach for a walking stick to go outdoors.
That's about it really.
Thanks for asking, I do appreciate it.:friends:
Sue.

Sue, I am so glad that you get to go out. You sound like everything is going as planned. I do hope that after the treatment, you can get a break and get some energy back. Sorry to hear about your knee but it also will get better in time. Think about you often. Take care. Tashia

Sue, It sounds like you are doing as well as can be expected in coping with chemo, et al. Do you have the energy to read, watch t.v. etc. So glad to hear you're keeping up with the hotel outings. Do you pick a different room every time you go? And what would we do without these long suffering husbands, I know mine has been taking care of me for a couple of years now, and he is so glad that I can do a little more now, If he could just get all the lights on the new Christmas tree lit. I think he doesn't want to mess with it, though, so he's going to take it back and get a smaller one.

Think of you often and visualizing you enjoying tea in the hotel as I write.

Hugs, Dorothy

Hi Sue, my first reaction was that days might drag, but its possible it doesn't work like that. When I first had my TKR I couldn't wait for bedtime. But one thing I did find was that I got aches and pains everywhere through lack of exercise. Is it similar for you?

You mentioned your organic fruit and veg garden. Do you sell the produce or is it solely for your own use? A few friends have had allotments in the past, but the problem seems to be that ripening happens at the same time and they cannot use it all, so they end up giving it away. How do you organise it so that doesn't happen? It must be a real joy having freshly picked produce. Do you also pickle things and make jams/chutneys. I seem to eat mango chutney with everything - but its particularly delicious with curry. I suspect we don't have the weather for you to grow mangos?

Getting a meal for your son each night sounds like a tall order. I'm sure its all a question of balance. Do too much and it will be too tiring, but get it right and you could enjoy doing it. You will already have thought about what I'm about to suggest, but just in case remember you can CHEAT BIG TIME. Have a few ready meals in the freezer (or as I call them bing bongs - 'cause you pop them in the micro and press a button (bing) then when its ready micro says `bong'.

Better stop now. I'll be back with loads more `helpful suggestions and tips' <chuckle.> xxx Carol

do the Wobble.

Pretty cool. Two problems 1. did you see the shoes those ladies were wearing? 5" platforms are just a wee bit out of my league 2. Is it essential to hold one's crutch whilst doing the dance? I will if you think its essential to the routine, but it did strike me that folk might get the wrong impression.

Anybody got any ideas to enable me to tag people. I do the usual thing ie, put a @ sign in front of their name. Sometimes I am allowed to do it once in a message, but that's about it. If I try more tags it doesn't work. I'll try it here @turtle

See what I mean? I tried to tag 3 people and only one part tag appears in the posted message.

make sure you have the full and correct screen name and don't leave a space between the name and @. patient 99

Hi Sue... I just caught up on your thread (it has been a while) and I am sending my spare energy and healing thoughts to you as I have some to spare.... :friends: I know how sick of lemonade we can get when life keeps handing us lemons....
It is 14 months from #1 and I find when there is no swelling I can get the metal and plastic bits to knock together and click like castanets.... :heehee: it is definitely weird! When the new one is not swollen it does too. So I guess we are all in the same click (clique) :eeeuw: My kids hate my sense of humor but I just kill myself!!!:rotfl:
I hope you feel better soon... I think take out burgers for Boxing Day would make easy fair and give you your rest at home and family near. Do you have that there?
I too have the wonderful hubby who picks up the slack... I would be lost without him. He is laid off right now so it has been good for me. I have lots of help and am catching up on the stuff I never have time to sit and do. Speaking of which I had better get doing!
Be well.

Have you heard about the flash mob we're going to do.....I thought we could mic up our knees to click and clunk for the percussion section :rofsign: :rofsign: :rofsign:
Creeker13 I love your humour! How is your knee, it's very new?
Chemo tomorrow so I may not be around for a few days.
Oh these Christmas smilies are so nice!! :xmasdance: :ereindeer: :xmas-1: :sleigh:

I hope the next couple of days go quickly and that you have good night sleeps. Here is some :ereindeer: :giftsa: You now have all the sun shine I can give.
Take care and stay away from all the bugs. Tashia

Thanks Sue... Laughter gets me through the stressful situations in life. :loll:
Yes my new knee is just 3 weeks old and healing very quickly.... I had my first p/t yesterday and am very sore today... :gaah: I had planned on staying home and resting but Rob had other plans. He took me out for a lovely lunch at a Chinese food restaurant for our anniversary. It was very nice!
You take good care of yourself and we'll talk in a couple days.

Hi. Just dropping by to say Hello and hope you are ok. Christmas wont be the same for you but I hope you will enjoy it with your family. You always seem so positive and even cheerful most of the time which I'm sure helps. You're very brave and I admire your attitude very much. No one knows how they will cope with what you have coped with this year but I'm sure a lot of people will hope they cope as well as you. Take care Sue. Will watch for your future posts. :huggy santa:

I had my third chemo on Thursday. I was fortunate to be given the only private room and they hope to be able to do that on future occasions too as I get along much better with privacy and my infusions take so long, I was in 7 hours again.

Unfortunately my legs have swollen again, especially the operated leg and they're going to do a CT scan a month early, on Christmas Eve, to see whether the regime is working.

I've written most of my cards and bought most presents online but am far from ready for Christmas, never mind it will come and go regardless, as my mum used to say! Everyone seems to have a gift from us.

I'm hoping to put on my surgical mask and see our eldest grandddaughter, from thehall doorway, open the Christmas Carol Concert with a solo, oh I've forgotten what....chemo brain fog!....."Once in Royal David's City," that's it....she's petite, ginger-haired, half French and gorgeous.

:nativity:

Going to the Christmas Carol Concert sounds like a wonderful break from all the medical stuff.
Hope the swelling in your legs goes down soon.
No worries about the shopping and such, the gift of your presence is so much more appreciated.
