THR bruce1984’s Left THR

Today was 7 weeks postop! Continuing to do well. Saw surgeon yesterday, X-ray looked good. Still having discomfort with initial few steps but I think it’s slowly improving. Surgeon said it would probably resolve within 3-4 more weeks. Walking 1-3 miles most days. Continuing stationary cycle. Surgeon said OK to start stretching, just don’t push beyond mild discomfort. Haven’t tried that yet. Not much else for now, looking forward to the 9-10 week window. Optimistic things will continue improving. Hoping others are progressing well too. Grateful the worst seems behind me now.

Great update, Bruce! Thanks for sharing the good news.
Happy Seven Weeks post op! Sounds like you're on your way.
Keep us posted as you continue healing and have a great day and weekend. :thumb:

Tomorrow is 9 weeks postop! Doing well, continued improvement. Still slight discomfort with initial few steps after sitting but noticeable improvement over past 2 weeks. No new issues, thank God! Walking more (2-3 miles daily) and continuing stationary cycle usually 35 minutes at mild- moderate resistance. Started stretching on floor, taking it easy though. So grateful to be past the worst of the journey and for the wonderful support given on this site. And hoping everyone else out there are doing well too. Not much else for now. Will update again in 1-2 weeks or sooner if something changes. Thanks, and God Bless.

Tomorrow is week #10 postop. Doing well, walking, stationary cycling, minimal elliptical. No pain meds, slight discomfort with initial few steps after sitting is definitely improving, almost gone now. No significant complaints at this time and grateful for a successful outcome so far and for the excellent support and advice on this site. Many thanks for being here.

A great week to you, Bruce! Glad you're doing well and hope you'll continue to update us on your progress.

Today is 11 weeks postop! Doing well, Thank God!. The slight discomfort with initial 2-3 steps after sitting continues to improve, nearly resolved. No significant discomfort once I start walking. Doing ~3 miles daily and elliptical as well. Not quite a “forgotten joint” yet, but getting close. Hoping everyone else out there are progressing well. Nothing else to report at this time. Will update again in 1-2 weeks or sooner if anything changes. Thanks for following, BG

Hard to believe it’s 12 weeks postop today and happily all’s well. Only slightly aware of the new hip joint. Back to normal activity. No pain meds. Feeling blessed and thankful for a successful outcome thus far. Planning to continue activities with caution trying to avoid any setback. Many thanks far the tremendous support offered here. Hoping everyone else on this journey is progressing well. Will continue updates at 1-2 week intervals. This journaling is a great way to facilitate looking back on the process in the future. Thanks again, Sincerely appreciated!!!

Thank you @Layla !!! Actually at 13 weeks yesterday. Doing well. Almost forgetting about it, but not quite yet. Occasional anterior muscle discomfort. Nothing requiring analgesics of any kind. Staying active and not pushing too hard. Overall, feeling good about this recovery, and so grateful and not taking anything for granted. Hoping everyone else out there are recovering well. Will post again in a week or two. BG

Still here at 15.5 weeks postop. Doing well, no current symptoms. Back to baseline activity. Having some days now without thinking about it!!! So almost at the forgotten joint phase and truly happy and appreciative for a great outcome. Looking back, the first ~3 weeks postop were the worst for me and I was impatient too. Happily all’s well now. Not doing any impact activities. But planning to ski next season if there’s any snow in Colorado (this past season which I missed was awful, record low snowfall season out west). So it looks like I picked a good ski season to miss! Hoping all are recovering well and remember, the process is not linear! It takes time and patience is one of the hardest parts.

Yes, patience is the biggest pill to swallow for sure.
A personality trait I never had but had to learn.
And in the end I recovered, fully.
Of course I’m not a skier. I despise snow and winter! Only activity I enjoy in winter is fireplace, wine and a great dinner!
We had a huge blizzard here late February. Actually took us 3-4 days to just get driveway cleared and my job is deck and back stairs. I had to take shovel fulls in layers in order to get to the bottom of the deck.
Keep up the great recovery and keep us posted! I wish you well.
