Texas Girl, Hi. Hope things are going well for you. I like your new avitar. My physical went good and all my lab work was normal except my triglycerides were quite elevated. He is contributing it to not being able to do much the last 3 months and not the best eating habits lately. He wants to recheck it in 3 months. I had my 12 week follow up with my OS yesterday complete with x-rays. He is very happy with the way everything looked and is healing. I told him i was having pain in my leg from my hip to the knee and a slight limp. He said at this point i should have little to no pain at all. He did a bunch of hands on tests to check for different things and said i have a very tight hip flexor, he called it hip flexor tendonitis. He put me back in PT 2/week for 2-4 weeks and will see me again in a month. He took off all restrictions. It was a great feeling today to put my socks and shoes on normal and reach my feet in the shower. So how is your recovery going ???

dede62, MY appt. yesterday went good. He took x-rays and said everything is healing normal. When i asked about the pain in my thigh area he said i should have little or no pain at this point. So he did a bunch of hands on tests and said i have hip flexor tendonitis. He wants me to go back to PT 2/week for 2-4 weeks and will see me back in a month. He lifted all my restrictions. Thanks for asking....

Great news BF

Always good to get reassurance from your OS :)

So good to hear from you! Sorry you are having some problems, but glad you are off restrictions. I don't have any but I am very mindful of my hip. Sure don't want to mess up anything. I am doing good. My hip feels tight and hurts at night on the days I am working and on my feet alot. Nothing major though. I don't have a limp except again, late at night after I have been on it alot. It is like a whoile new world not to be in awful pain all the time. My back has been hurting some, but I think that is from bending over a computer alot, and I am walking different now, using muscles I have not used in over a year. My cholesterol and Triglyercides were both higher but I too, have not been eating as I should . Just wasn't cooking healthy, just something easy. I am sure the numbers will be better when I get tested again in 6 months. I am still going to pool therapy at least twice a week. My therapist is awesome. Don't have to pay but a small fee, now that I know what I am doing on my own. I will keep doing it for as long as I can. I have not had my hip xrayed at all since I got it. I have my 12 week appt. in a few weeks, Maybe they will do an exray this time. Well try to take care of that new shiny hip!! Keep me posted as to how you are doing, Glad you finally surfaced, I was getting worried!!

Good news except for the tendonitis. It can be a really darn to get to settle down. Good luck with that.

Hard to believe its been 5 months since my THR so kinda of an update. All i can say is WOW !! I went back to work on April 29 after a 19 week recovery period. I am on my feet for 10 hrs./day and haven't had any issues. I may get a pain once in a while around my thigh/knee area, maybe a 1-2 on the scale, but nothing in my hip. A little rest usually cures that. Back to doing everything i used to do 2 years ago prior to my hip giving me issues. Still haven't tried bike riding but i don't think it should be an issue. Best of luck to everyone on their recoveries and Happy Mothers Day to all you Moms......

Hi badgerfan Thanks for keeping us up to date with your recovery. It sounds like you are very happy with the outcome of your surgery 6 months on. It's great for us early hipsters to hear such positivity. I am 8 weeks tomorrow and was doing really well until I overdid the walking and then twisted the hip awkwardly resulting in groin pain I am now having to rest more again I am just wondering how you resolved your hip flexor tendinitis and how long it took ? Well done and congratulations on a wonderful recovery .

Kim22, It took about 3 weeks to resolve the uncooperative hip flexor issue. When i visited my OS for my 12 week follow up i told him the issues i was having. He said at this point i should have very little to no pain so he ordered 4 more weeks of PT. I found a PT who did nothing but hands work to me. She did ultrasound and got in there and really dug around with her fingers and worked the muscles. She also gave me a few stretches to do which i still try to do daily. After 2/week for 4 weeks everything felt great and continues to....

Hard to believe my new hip is already a year old (Dec. 11). Last year at this time i was icing, elevating, using a walker, and taking pain meds while starting my recovery. I had my 1 year check last Thur. and everything looked great. Good bone growth around the new cup and stem, no leg length difference, and excellent range of motion. I am more than happy with my outcome . Looking back i wouldn't say it was easy but well worth it.

@badgerfan great to hear that at the one year mark you have done so well. It's very encouraging for us new hippies to know that....10 weeks on I'm doing well but realise it's quite a long haul. Thanks for the reassurance your post gives. Merry Xmas . Chrissie xxx
