TKR Back home, surgery 07/23

Great update! Thanks for sharing. Your incision is healing nicely. I wish you the best upon your return to work.
Thankfully it will be light duty for awhile. Please let us know how it's going once you've been back for a bit.
Have a wonderful week!

walking unassisted now, but I do carry a cane when out as a message to others to keep their distance or not to rush me
I did this for a few months as we live in a really busy London suburb and it helped me feel safe. It also helped getting on and off buses/ tube trains.
I agree that glue is great. I have read a paper that says it not only heals better but has lower infection rates.

OK folks, tomorrow is the "magic" day - back to work. Those six flights of stairs will be my PT now. Friday was my last day. Extension is 1~ish to 0 with slight one-finger push down. Flexion is 120 unassisted, about 123 with a tug, but no pain. It feels like there still might be some slight internal swelling. It's fine with me - the right only has 120 degrees and I get along just fine. Slight limp still and going down the stairs is just a bit uncomfortable, but it's time to get back to work. I've been lollygagging for just over six weeks now!

Thanks for the encouragement y'all. Hopefully I won't need hips before it's check-in time!

Bye!

Best Wishes tomorrow!
I hope it will light duty as you mentioned in a previous post. Hopefully you don't have to navigate the six flights of stairs multiple times per day and you're able to rest at home once you're off work. Returning at six weeks is pretty ambitious. I wish you well and hope you'll share an update after you've been back to work for a few days. Take good care!

Happy Two Month Anniversary!
How have you been? Hopefully it wasn't too difficult transitioning back into the workplace.
Lots of stairs to climb though. Please leave an update when you have the time. We'd love to hear from you.
All the best!

Well, today is 9 weeks post-surgery. I haven't had any major issues at work, but I do confess to needing a short break once I get four out of the six flights of stairs completed. That is usually only in the morning though, and by the second or third time I negotiate the stairway I can go all six flights. Slowly, but I do manage to get them done.

Last Friday I had a visit with the surgeon, and he was happy with the progress. He said I could come back in a year, if I chose to. He made sure that I had his private cell number in case anything mysterious happens.

Thanks for the update! It sounds like you're navigating the six flights of stairs well at three months post op.
I am sure it was encouraging to hear that your surgeon is pleased with the progress you're making.
You're on your way, RL. :walking:Enjoy!

Six flights of stairs! Wow! I can't even do that now. Of course, it's other joints keeping me from doing it, not my new knee. It's doing fine. It's great that you have your doctor's cell number, just it case. That's pretty rare. You have a very good doctor!

Happy Three Month Anniversary, RandomLee!
How are you doing over the past month since we last heard from you? I hope you're having a nice Autumn and you're feeling stronger with each passing month.
Let us know when you have a minute, we'd love to hear from you.
Take care!
