Busy as usual..

Mulling this over... You know my sister fell broke a chip or there was a crack in her hip. It was noted at the time that she had osteoarthritis. The surgeon decided to pin . I argued with him but he said if the pinning did not work, he would surgery. He would not listen to me.
So she went through the walker stage but refused to " help" the PT. She is now in a wheelchair. She says her hip hurts. X-rays show healing and the arthritis.... She will not walk, period. Her life has gone from extremely active to three times a day to the dining room and back to her room now.
What is done is done..just double pay from insurance should a THR be preformed.

Well this is sad news to read, Mudhen, I'm sorry.
It sure doesn't sound good. Your poor sister. Is she willing to get a second opinion?
She definitely needs to reach out to someone so she's not trapped in a wheelchair...if there's a solution.
Wishing her comfort and luck in finding a plan to move forward.

Everyone at the home is also unhappy about the outcome. She came to the home doctor and showed him where her pain is. She says it hurts to walk.
Over the years she has dealt with a lot of pain without complaining. Now that she has pain so bad it hurts to walk... I don't know.
She went without eating when they took the walker away.
As I have said before arthritis was not the cause of my break so I do not know how it feels. But I have read many posts here that make me know it must be very painful.
The surgeon went so far as to say ...pinning would make the arthritis better
....
I am thinking about going down. As I am her guardian she in the past has not wanted to see me. But I think I need some first hand experience with the owner..

Hello, Happy Wednesday
Maybe it would be best if you could advocate for your sister in person, Mudhen.
It sounds like a THR could be in her future. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see her out of a wheelchair,
thriving and re-capturing life. I hope she gets the help she needs and deserves.
Wishing you a good one!

May you have a calm weekend ,@Layla and everyone. The storms have certainly been all around me!! My lawn was mowed today despite the wetness and standing water, but it needed to be mowed. They were good to help me pick up limbs...I have been working on them for three days. That is one thing that makes my hip swell but I believe it is the 11 miles of walking that is making my leg ache so.
I am sewing this week.
I do hope you have sunshine for your plans!!

Have a great weekend @Mojo333!

I know I walk the 2.4 miles per day but that does not count what I do at home...

Rubbish! If the hip already as arthritis he just pinned an already damaged hip. Can you find a surgeon who is a bit more sympathetic? Your sister needs to get her life back.

Thank you @Jaycey!!
Exactly what I thought, I am her guardian but what does that mean. ! He made up his mind to pin and did...if it failed the surgery. I am not stupid enough to believe that pinning will make the arthritis hip stronger or cure the arthritis.
So the x-rays show the hip to be "fine" healed correctly. Therefore no need for THR surgery. The x-rays were shown to another doctor, 2nd opinion... same decision. I know my sister is difficult but she asked for relief and is not getting it.

I am not done with this yet!!!

Hi @Mudhen
I hope you're doing well and enjoying some beautiful weather and time outdoors.
How goes the battle with your sister, any luck, or hope in sight?
I'm going to check back later but need to jump off the forum for now.
I hope you have a great week. Happy Monday!

Seems she has been having mini strokes. Her condition has really gone downhill.
There are certain complications that are not encouraging for further surgery. They are afraid she would pass away in surgery.

I'm really sorry to read this, Mudhen. The poor dear. As her sister this must be difficult news to hear.
It doesn't sound like her options are great. Prayers for her comfort and yours also as you stand by her.
I hope you have a peaceful week. :console2:

Hey @Mudhen
I hope you're doing well and had a nice holiday weekend. It was a long hot one here. Still is hot and humid.
I'm sure it's not stopping you. I always imagine you staying busy outdoors.

Hopefully you're enjoying the Summer. Can you believe it's almost half over? Well, at least to me it is. I still think of Summer as June, July, August, ever since childhoood and being off school for those three months.

Just thought I'd say :hi: and wish you a good rest of the week. Hope the hip is holding out well.

Happy Thursday, Mudhen
Sorry you're still dealing with the spasms. Hopefully they've eased in intensity, duration and occurance.
It's good to hear you're doing well aside from that.
Stay cool (hard to do in July) and enjoy the Summer! :)

Layla you are so sweet...hugs to you!!
As far as spasms go they are always intense and unexpected. I dealt with them many years in my back and those in my upper leg are no different.

My garden is mostly volunteer with many volunteer touch me not or Balsam Rose. I do not discourage them! I have to search among them for the tomatoes and lettuce.

We have had a lot of rain and muggy heat. Summer usually goes through September here, just take what comes.
Do have a wonderful weekend!!!

Sorry about the spasms, dear Mudhen. It must be miserable. Wish you didn't have to deal with that.

Had to look up Balsam Rose, looks like some type of Impatiens which I love. I'll bet it's pretty.

We can have heat and humidity through September here also.
But...we can do this! :yes!: :ok:
Hugs :friends:
