TKR 6/27/25 2nd TKR this time left

Thanks for letting me know about that. Let me check on this for you. I’m sorry you’re having problems.

You are correct that there is a problem. I’ve reported it to our CEO so he can hopefully get it resolved.

Hi Bebita
Happy One Month Anniversary!
I hope you have a great day and week!
@Bebita

I want to buy some more too, so I'll also need that discount code.

I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from Mark. He sent a text to the CEO of ACTIVE products, so I’m hoping we get a resolution to the problem quickly.

The problem with the ACTIVE discount for BoneSmarties is now resolved. I’ve checked it and you should be able to purchase whatever products will work best for you with the BoneSmart discount. Just as a point of information, you can always check out all the discounts available to you as a BoneSmart member by clicking on your username to bring up a drop down menu. Click on DISCOUNTS and you’ll see what’s available. There are discounts for Basic Members and even better ones for members of the Insiders Club.

This is a wonderful tip and makes shopping for these products much easier!

Hello, hope everyone is doing well.

Just getting home from my first PT session. They were very nice there and very gentle with me. Basically a lot of the exercises I was already doing at home with the home PT person when he used to come.

They said my knee is already at 95 ROM so that's very good for 1 month out. If you say so

Of course now my lower back is tight and bothering me. I do have sciatica so I don't know if this is normal after PT. Plan on asking them when I go back Wednesday morning. Maybe one of you may know as well.

They massaged my knee with free-up professional massage cream. Kinda of felt not as stiff afterwards.

It absolutely is! Generally, surgeons want you to be at 90 degrees flexion by six weeks and you are already past that!

now my lower back is tight and bothering me.
I had the same problem with each of my replacement surgeries. It happens because all the soft tissues up and down our legs and into our back need time to adjust to our body's new alignment. We live with bad alignment (as we compensate for pain and weakness) for so long that our muscles, tendons and ligaments need to relearn how to respond now that things are corrected.

Definitely speak with your therapist about it. Mine was able to recommend a couple of exercises that helped.

I will definitely ask the therapist Wednesday when I go.

Thanks in advance,

How did things go at your PT session yesterday, @Bebita? Was your therapist able to help with your back?

PT was ok. Just doing exercises of bending knee, quads, sitting, standing without help. Checked my walking without anything. Nothing too bad though I do leave their sore. I did tell them about my back and that I do have sciatica.

All they said was ok, we'll be careful with that. SMH

Re PT and your back: in my experience, independent practice PTs feel free to take a holistic view of each patient. But in many Institutional practices (like the outpatient PT clinic at our local medical center) PTs can feel constrained to only treat the body part written in the referring diagnosis.

Question -- when is it ok to get a pedicure?

Thanks in advance,

I would wait at least 6 weeks until your check up with your surgeon and ask his guidance. There is no hard and fast rule about things like pedicures or dental procedures and it’s better to go with your doctor’s specific guidance since he or she is the one looking at your knee.

I still avoid shellac pedicures at almost 3 years.
Shellac contains a chemical that is also found in bone cement. Repeated use can lead to allergies (It's a problem for nail technicians) and I just don't want even a small chance of becoming allergic to my knee.

Hi Nancy,
Consider checking with your nail salon and make sure they soak your feet in a basin that is not connected to a filtration system, or bring your own basin. My OS cautioned me to stay away from nail salons causing me to research the topic.
The danger lies in the filtration system they soak your feet in, not the basin itself. We often have microscopic cuts we're unaware of. I've also read that the filtration system is the breeding ground for mycrobacterium, which can produce boils, warts, MRSA, athletes foot, toenail fungus and HPV. All of the aforementioned thrive in a warm wet environment. The solution is a pipeless drainage system tub since the bacteria breeds in the pipes.

So please do talk it over with your OS, or a member of his care team before scheduling a pedicure. Then with a nod from them...pick a color, any color and enjoy!
Hope you have a great week. Happy Monday!

Hi, how all is well. Spoke to Dr. Regarding all the good stuff: driving, pedicure, sleeping on side. Those fun things. Said I can start driving when I feel comfortable. Can have pedicure, can sleep on side but should place pillow in between.

Otherwise everything is ok. Getting butt kicked in PT.

Greatly appreciate everyone's help during this recovery.
