Good luck and blessings to all you having THR in August. I'm only 9 days out, but in spite of the hiccups, I am so glad I went through with this.

I was ready to cancel the day prior and after talking to OS and anesthesia guy, almost ran out ( they wouldn't let me ).

2nd night at hospital I had the first HOPE for a life more than struggling to the grocery store and pain and loneliness due to pain solitude in 8 years!

Taking the leap is first step and I was told that this THR may not work for my leg sciatica and knee pain.

I STILL HAVE HOPE! [emoji192][emoji173]️

I'm 45 and will be having a Total Hip Replacement (Right hip) on Aug. 22nd. I've never had major surgery before so I'm pretty nervous! I'm excited about being able to walk without pain again - nervous, but excited :)
 
Thank you @lizzicat . I have some back problems and was told that my hip surgery may or may not help with my back pain. It seems that sometimes even though back xrays show things like disc degeneration and bone spurs you can still be asymptomatic. That is my hope which would mean that the back pain is from the hip and will improve after surgery. I am very hopeful this will be the case. Here is to hope :SUNsmile:. Hi Hipsters & Friends,

I am scheduled for Left THA on August 10th - so it's just around the corner. Feeling fortunate to have found this community and I hope to learn and contribute to support for others. It's been a path to get here and it still surprises me what curves this LEft hip throw my way..... Lucky to have found a good doc, and even as I am still working to be fully ready for next week - I don't carry significant worries into the process ahead. I look forward to reading all the good information, great narrative, kind spirits, and points of view. I am going into this - coming off working that is normall 60 hrs a week. Trying to unbound from that work commitment to catch up and be rested for the surgery . Final OS visit set for Friday and Hospital visit Monday - and Wednesday will be the big day next week

Scheduled for left total on August 25th in Morgantown WV by Dr Benjamin Frye. He does minimal anterior without the table and says he can get leg length spot on. Diagnosed about 4 years ago and in the last 6 months has gotten to where "you know when its time" time.

I'm 52 and was very active before diag. Marathon runner, rugby player, Cross fit and not can't even hardly walk for 30 min without bad pain. Cycling now to stay in shape but want to get back to normal (except no running after or lifting). Just want it over and able to walk without pain or limping.
 
Kinda late notice but I'm having right hip revision tomorrow morning at 9:30 am. Scared outta my mind.

Try to relax and think positive thoughts. I feel sure that you'll have less pain after surgery than before---and pain that will resolve itself as you heal.

Please add me from post #74 - this is my first major surgery and I am usually very stress free but its got me worked up. I'm young and still very active (can't run anymore) and everyone just says I'll do great. Ugh - I just want it over.

Sorry I missed your first post---but better late than never. Perfectly normal to be a bit worked up about first time major surgery; and everyone is right---you'll do fine and be happy to have had it done.
