Oh, @belweav, I'm so sorry about your dog! I faced exactly that situation last week, and we ended up having to put down our beloved Wheaten Terrier mix down last Monday. So difficult to deal with those emotions while at the same time trying to cope with the magnitude of major surgery on the near horizon... :sad:
Sending you love and prayers as surgery nears. xoxox

@Chihuahuan, you have been officially added to the August surgery list! You are now officially an August Hot Shot!

Have taken you off the July Sparkler list.

@belweav I too am sorry to hear about your dog. We lost our mini poodle 3 weeks ago he was 16. He had gone to stay with my daughter the last 2 years of his life. They loved each other she was young when we got him. It was still very hard on the whole family. I am sorry you really don't need this added stress and sadness right now.

@dandy_candi @MommaCatt and @belweav I will be thinking of you all this week and be praying for you. It will be exciting to hear your stories of recovery in the upcoming weeks. Hugs to you all.

@belweav - So sorry to hear about your dog. I was in a similar position a couple of weeks before surgery. My dog is 15. She is on medication for her arthritic hips (!) and when we took her for her check up a (not very sympathetic) vet said she has a large heart murmur. He wanted to do some investigations, but freely admitted that she is really too old for treatment, so we declined. Since then she seems to have improved a lot. She is such a happy soul that we have decided that we will just love her and look after her as long as she seems to enjoy life. However I'm not kidding myself - we will have to make the hard decision sometime over the next few months. Really hoping that it doesn't come to that for you, so soon before your surgery.
@DizzyBlond - so sad for you that you have already had to make that hard decision. :console2:

I sent a prayer your way @MommaCatt . I am thinking of you today and will be in the days to come. I am looking forward to hearing how things went once you are rested up and feel up to it. Definitely need to get feeling better before you worry about any of this. Take care of yourself Catt. Better yet let someone else do that for awhile. Hugs to you.

Having my right one done on 1 August at the tender age of 38. Osteoarthritis due to birth defect. Left one perfect, so only one for me ;-)

[Bonesmart.org] 2016 August Hot Shots - Are you having hip surgery in August? @BizzyLizzy, here's a picture of our old Scruffy McDuff. :sad: He was such a lovely dog, a gentle giant who brought us so much joy. The house feels empty without him, but we knew it was time... he was suffering so. You'll know when it's time for your sweet little Sally - but till then, I know you'll be enjoying the time you have left with her. xoxo

Oh, I know exactly how you're feeling right now, @belweav. And if Bobbie is communicating that it's time, as hard and heartbreaking as it is to have to say goodbye, you'll know she's at peace - no more suffering - as you can then focus on recovery and recuperation. xoxoxo

@MetEish welcome! August seems to be predominately male...I feel a tad outnumbered! You will be 3 1/2 weeks ahead of me so I'm already jealous ;)
@bottomshollow I think it's winter where meteish is ;)

I fear that the surgery list months are set up for US weather seasons. Hard to be considered a Hot Shot in the snow:heehee:!

Hehe. Yup, winter here, but not too bad. Still able to wear shorts and a t-shirt during the day. Nothing like Southern Hemisphere weather ;-)

Hi

I'm thankful to have found this forum- I'm scheduled to have right total hip replacement August 22- I am 39 and been struggling for close to 10 years

My recent Mir showed my hip was basically gone with nothing distinguishing where the joint used to be- my pain is high and walking of coarse with a limp and rapidly deteriorating-

Doesn't change I'm terrified to go through surgery! Anxiety overload
