I'm scheduled for Right total hip replacement on Dec 10th. I can't wait to be rid of this burden that I've had for years, getting my new hip and most importantly, getting on with a healthy and improved quality of life.

I am scheduled for right THR on December 23. Currently having 2nd, 3rd, 4th doubts.

@Shazzstars, looks like you have already had your replacement. I hope everything went well. I was interested in the DHS removal. I too had a hip fracture a year ago, and after a non-union I have the option of a DHS or THR. I decided on THR but I still can't convince myself DHS may have been OK too. Sounds like you went through what I'm worried about - that it may be OK for a while but eventually not be worth the effort. If you had to make the same choice, would you still try DHS first?

Ok. Going in to Hospital for Special Surgery, NYC this Tuesday Dec 29. . Anterior THR left hip. So tired of limping, sitting, sighing and pain. Looking forward to long walks and traveling. Wish me luck!looks like I am the last December surgery, which may make me the last THR of 2015. Still up in the air about post op plan. They say there is a "dual plan" of either home care, visiting nurse, PT, etc or rehab which the SW refers to as nursing home. I'm not keen on going to nursing home but I live alone and not happy about going home with people coming into my apartment either.
