THR 2 yr update

It's great to hear you'll get it checked in a couple days....Just to be safe.
I'd hate to see you dealing with an infection. It sounds like you're keeping a close eye on it.
Hoping you have a great visit with the doctor. Come back and share if you feel up to it.
Would love to hear an update.
Warm wishes for a wonderful day!
@tyorke1

I'm hoping the doctor visit goes well today.
Update us if you feel like sharing.
It will be nice to hear that your incision is healing properly.
I know you've had a lot of drainage.....wondering what the doctor had to say....
Hope you have a good day!
@tyorke1

thanks Layla, dr said incision looks good, he does not think there's an infection but gave a pre script for an antibiotic just in case . of course I walked in with just a cain and he shoke his head. I said atleast I have not hit golf balls yet lol he's been great , I am feeling stronger every day . There was a smaller amont of bleeding when the nurse changed the bandage , they said colours look normal but because of the fluid he put me on the antibiotic . thanks for asking, it was nice being out and surprising how well I got along.

Good to hear @tyorke1 - had a good first checkup today too. Next appt January 30th.

nice Jaydub, he did put me on an antibiotic that you take every 6hrs for 2 weeks, that sucks. Nice to hear yours went well, today was by far the most I walked and I can feel it now , tomorrow will be a lax day .

Hi @tyorke1
It sounds like your appointment went well. Thanks for sharing!
Look at you....strutting around at only 13 days post op without a cane! :wowspring:

First outings are great, they help you feel like you're part of the world again. Sounds like you enjoyed it.
I'm happy the doctor prescribed an antibiotic, better safe than sorry.
Wishing you a peaceful week, a VERY :merry christmas: and a great 2018!

Glad visit went well. If nothing else antibiotic will give you some peace of mind. And yes, rest up tomorrow after your big day today.

bleed bleed bleed, still having lots, yesterday was last day of blood thinner hopefuly the tap will turn off. of course day of dr app my bandage was only half full, nurse put a new one on with the sterile strips, they lasted 2 days and bandage 5 hrs. If it wasn't for this I would be good . should I change the bandage everytime when it's totally red or just keep putting new bandage over the top.

Hi @tyorke1
That incision sure is giving you some grief. While I'm not a nurse I'd want to get rid of the old bloody dressing
with a clean gloved hand. I wouldn't want to trap the soiled one, underneath a clean one.
I also realize you run the risk of infection each time your tampering with the area until the incision is fully closed.

I'd advise you to call the office of your OS and speak with his PA, or a nurse, about how they want you to address the situation. I'm sure they'll ask questions and you'll be able to mention you're on an antibiotic etc.
Best wishes that faucet turns off soon!

I have had bleeding for now the 7th day and a half inch spot is open in the incision. trying to keep the sterile strips over it . I am wondering if dr's ever re-close these or do they just let them heal.

If you keep steri-strips on the open part it should heal. Keep it dry and clean.

You will notice that I have merged your two threads together as we prefer that members in recovery only have one thread.

This is for three reasons:
1. if you keep starting new threads, you miss the posts others have left you in the old threads
2. it often ends up that information is unnecessarily repeated
3. it's best if we can keep all your recovery story in one place so it's easily accessed if we need to advise you.

Please keep all your questions and updates on this thread. If you would like a new thread title just give a shout.

Hope today is a Good Day.
Yep, that incision needs to close on up now!
Happy holidays:gbh:

near impossible to keep dry, it saturates the strips in a few hrs.may need a stitch

Do you have steri strips you can put on?

Was going thru them every 3 hrs strips would get saturated . I went to er, he said just a hematoma and needs to drain. They put a drainage I believe it's called a hvac or something like that around opening , good thing because I went thru 2 complete dressing changes by 11am .Wound looked good, I did bleed in waiting area ,triage and bed , helped getting looked after faster. As Layla and everyone else said better safe than sorry . Merry xmas to all

Whew!! So glad you're keeping up on that. Smart move getting it checked again.
Hopefully now it will finally quit draining :fingersx:
Turn that faucet off :yes!: @tyorke1 has had enough!
Wishing you a dry leg :heehee:

Wow tyoke1, I’m sorry I didn’t realize it was bleeding that much. Good getting it checked out. That should help you rest easier. Merry Christmas.:box:

tap is closing, down to a drip, about time, bleed for 11 days , better days to come,

Glad that’s finally stopping for you @tyorke1- surely a sign of better days to come. How is recovery otherwise? Hope pain is well managed.
