So now it is 101 degrees and 95% humidity, and my knees are stiff. So now we can count , rain, cold, and heat my knees don’t like. Great!!!!

@winemama I seem to be okay inside, but I definitely know what you mean about the heat/humidity if I'm outside. I sat out last week for 2 hrs with some church friends while the kids swam. The knee didn't bother me much until the 2-2.5 hr mark when it just felt "full." I was glad I tried, but I told my son I'm dropping him off the next few times until I can tolerate the heat better. I don't need anything standing in the way of my recovery, including swelling that I CAN control. :)

@Rockgirl4 I’m not quite understanding why my knees would swell in the heat. I’m staying in all day and ice.
No music for us tonight, to hot

We all tend to retain fluid in the hot weather, so I'm not surprised your knee is more swollen.
You're doing the right thing by icing it.

@winemama Seconding what @Celle said. :) I always have trouble getting my wedding rings on/off from June-September here in St. Louis, and it's the humidity. After I go out to garden for 20 minutes, forget it---the rings are on for hours until bedtime. Heat adds a lot to it for me, but it just doesn't take much to make me swell. Salt just compounds the problem too,so I try to avoid it as much as possible. Goodness, even when I stay inside and work out indoors only, my hands swell to the point I struggle getting my rings off again. In the drier months and winter-time, they almost fall off my fingers. :yikes: So are the days of my life!!!! :spin:

The heat is awful for water retention. I've recently lost weight, so in March I put a spacer on my wedding ring. Within a week of the summer temps hitting I'd gained 5 lbs for no reason and I swear half of that is in my hands. I had to take the spacer back out of my ring. I loathe the heat and I'm convinced the air here is supersaturated because our humidity is about 157%.

The best reason for a July surgery was that I wasn't going to leave the house anyway!

Spent the day icing yesterday, never left the house, the heat and humidity is awful, both knees don’t like this weather, I almost feel like I’m experiencing a set back, with the swelling. Don’t like it, this weather is cutting into my weekend dancing

We're still low 80s here but when I want to garden I do it early morning. No need for ac yet.

We are chill babies, we keep our house like an icebox. The kids are always complaining our house is to cold, even in the winter, we like our home cool

You would melt at our house. My husband is always very cold, so our AC is set at 79 and our heat is set at 74.

I wear shorts and tank tops around the house all year while he has several layers on and still needs a quilt.

This. I like it cold. This week our a/c is struggling to keep up. Fortunately, lounging mostly nekked with ice on my leg is a good way to keep cool until the weather breaks.

It’s not a set back, it’s a fluctuation. Try not to worry about it.

That’s what my favorite weight watcher leader told us one day. A member was upset about a gain, and our leader interrupted her and said, “ don’t you say that word at my meeting, it’s not a gain, it’s a fluctuation.” She has a very personable personality and her presentations were always fun, and I can still hear how she said it in a sing song tone of voice. It made us all laugh. She was awesome, she made losing weight fun!

Somedays mine is like that. I think every day I'm overdoing it to one degree or another. My swelling is mostly above the knee. Keep telling myself to pull back. It's not easy to.

Just read @Jockette 's post. Always on point "Fluctuation".

@Jockette and @Benay thanks. It has been so hot and humid here in Ohio, I guess I just don’t like the swelling, it does feel like a set back, but I realize it isn’t. I do know that my recent TKR almost 12 weeks is still not getting past 101 Rom with this summer heat. I’ll wait for fall , to me everything is better in the Fall In Ohio

Great weather here this weekend, and that means music and a dance. Knees are still slightly swollen. I’m just like “ Welcome to my new normal “

Mine is swollen today too. Will try to do very little but planning on going to see Once upon a Time in Hollywood in the afternoon. I always forget just how easy it is to tip the balance from ok to not ok with this knee. :good-bad:
