Regarding motivation ... do you use one of the tracking apps for your phone? I use Cardio Trainer, but there are tons of them out there. You take it on your exercise outing and it will draw you a map of where you went and give an estimate of calories, which it then converts to produce. "Congratulations! You've burned the equivalent of three avocados!" That sort of thing. Some people find that motivating. Others prefer to set goals and then buy shoes when they reach their goals.

Hello everyone,:) Cardie, Annie and Alex

I was told by the podiatrist that you should never have a heel lift the same as the LLD. I have never been measured 'properly'. It's just been the standard tape measure so not accurate. However, the podiatrist said it shoud be about 3/4 ( I think) of the full LLD. She believes from looking at the legs that I have a 2 1/2 cms ( 1 inch difference). The heel lift is not perfect but to be honest I'm just now used to what I have added to the shoe so don't want anymore. If you have an approximate measurement of your LLD then just do 3/4 of it. At the beginning it is always weird and your back has to get used to it, but it does help. However, to be on the safe side best to see a podiatirst or someone re: heel lifts etc.

Lovely to hear from you Annie. My knees more achey now with the cold and rain  but you have to get on with it. I also have weak quads and still am very tight in all of my muscles compared to prior to thr.

Motivation is difficult and I go up and down but for me having a personal trainer who I see x2 a week helps me and being part of a gym. Since I've paid for it have to use it. I think my exercising is more to do to keeping my weight off and trying to lose some more. Ongoing struggle for years but it does help.

The main app I use is my fitness pal which is both calorie and exercise counting. I use it for my food intake as you do watch yourself a little bit more.

With the weather becoming colder and the days drawing in, hard to keep on going but keep at it Cardie, we're with you all the way

My Fitness Pal is a great app! I use it too. Just to calculate my macronutrient intake and make sure I'm fueling my exercise habit. It's so much easier with the app than trying to do it on paper.
