Hi group,
I just got the phone call for my surgery date. Dec. 16th. I am excited but nervous now, I have had a couple of really painful days lately, I train dogs for a living and have had a couple of big reactive dogs lately that did a bit of pulling. Anyway wanted to tell everyone, I will be at the Nanaimo General which is about 1 1/2 hours away from home.
I will probably have more questions now LOL.

Wow Mags......congratulations. Dec. isn't that far away. Ask away....there are so many people who have the answers you will seek between now and then.
Let your count down begin!!

I'm happy for you, Mags....and excited!!! Thanks for starting a thread where you can ask specific questions and talk about your pre-surgery experience. I'll look forward to hearing more from you as the date draws near!!! Post anytime!!!

Great news Mags, you will soon be on the other side...Take care and be gentle on yourself...JackiesLost

Yeahhh, you're on your way now. A bit earlier than you first thought too..

I really was very well cared for at the Nanaimo Hospital and was in a cramped ward, but it was fine. The nursing staff were all so nice and I also had student nurses assigned to me, which gave me extra pampering so to speak.

Like you, I kept going right up until surgery. I think this has helped me regain my strength.

I must say this 6 weeks has felt like 6 months, but like everyone else, this is normal, all part of the recovery.

I hope all goes well for you. :thmb:

Hi Mags
I'm answering on your thread so more folks can join in and cheer you along.

The preop class is really good and my husband came with me and he learned alot and was my "watch dog" when it came to obeying the 90 deg rule.

Thats nice of you letting me know you are in Port Alberni. I'm not familar with the area, as we've always just driven through on the way to Ucluelet or Tofino. We are in Errington, not far from Coombs.. about 15 minutes or so.

Your farm sounds like alot of work and fun.

I too never dreamed I'd ever need a hip replacement.. and it was a physio who told me also.. I found this site about 2 months after I found out and have made so many good friends here and the support has been the best.

Take care and I hope your pain levels don't get too high pre surgery with all you have to do..

Enjoy it, it is a great ride! I am 9 months post op today and it all seems so long ago. I have a Golden Lab. and she pulls like mad, but my new hip is up to it. You won't regret getting it done NO MORE PAIN!!!!

It is amazing when you come out the other side!

Thanks everyone, I am really excited and hope that I don't get bumped out of my spot. It has been great being on this site and reading everyones experiences, I think that helps more than you know.

Love the icon you used, that is just how I feel also. You will be in and out before I go so look forward to reading about your surgery and recovery.

Mags - be sure and keep posting. It does help! This site was such a godsend for me pre and post op. Just having access to others who know exactly what you are going through is really helpful.

Looking forward to hearing more from you!
