Thank you @Jaycey and Josephine ! :) What a wonderful resource this forum is. Here I am over a year after surgery and am able to come back and get such helpful advise and info. delivered in a kind manner and so quickly. I am very grateful for Bonesmart. It has been just wonderful before...
@Josephine
The green area is where the pain starts and it shoots upward in a diagonal away from my hip, if that makes sense. Do you think there is any possibility that I could have hurt the new joint? My surgeon is at Emory, so it is a long wait to get in. But, if I think it's urgent, they...
Thank you so much @Josephine for your help!!
The pain runs from the top right corner of the square DL4F and up across CL5F. It is sharp shooting pain that happens when I step on that side or when I try to get up from a bent position.
Thank you so much!!!!!
Hi All,
It's been a while since I posted. It's been 18 months since my THR and I was doing very well. Yesterday, I was slipping off my tennis shoes and on my operated side, my foot stuck slightly in the shoe (I didn't lift high enough or something) and I twisted my body around quickly at the...
@savtheday I have hip dysplasia and had surgeries for it as a baby. I had a THR last year (at the age of 37.) I did not have a PAO. I have some issues on my other side and will not consider a PAO for that side either (it is mild and I will just wait until it gets bad enough... hopefully many...
The wait for surgery with surgeons in the big group that many people use in metro Atlanta is just a couple of weeks (I visited 6 surgeons before making choice.) The wait is still only about 6 weeks at Emory (which has the longest wait in Atl.) So, the wait at Kaiser is terribly unreasonable...
I had a friend who adopted a little girl from China. She had Kaiser and they refused to cover the adopted little girl. Their plan clearly stated that adopted children were covered immediately upon legal adoption. Kaiser refused and said there was a 6 month waiting period (the little girl was...
I soooo wish I had given myself more time before surgery to get needed dental work done. My dentist did a filling and I had any real pressing issues addressed before surgery. However, I ended up breaking a tooth about 5 months after surgery and have had a lot of trouble with it... large...
I was 37 when I had my THR last year (hip dysplasia.) My surgeon suggested the hip will likely last my lifetime. When I pushed him to give me an exact number of years, he said 30-40. What to expect after surgery? Do you mean in terms of recovery or in terms of restrictions? I have no...
@rhino1 Hope you are feeling better today. I noticed you said that the surgeon initially said to wait and see. Just wanted to offer my two cents on that... I am a young patient, so it has been clearly expressed to me that it is very important that I follow up with my surgeon annually to keep...
@Joydancer I replied to your posts on Sally's thread. Then I saw that you had your own recovery thread. I read through your last few posts. From following Sally's thread for so long and seeing others' experiences with infection, I really think you should probably see a surgeon soon. I will...
@Joydancer I am so very sorry to hear about your infection. Do you have an appointment scheduled with your orthopedic surgeon? If you don't want to see him, have you looked for another surgeon to consult with regarding your infection? I would think it would be really important to get in...
