@Joydancer sending prayers, thoughts, and hugs as you prepare for your appointment tomorrow.:angel:

Thanks so much! Prayers so welcome...I hope it's not another betrayal. It'll be interesting if my Prim Dr. does the ego trip, evasive and not willing to provide information, as I have been forced to experience from OS and other physicians with the loop-hole of medical physician "hospitalist", necessary because my primary dr. does not go to the hospital (many do not know in our small city). I was advised, my the medical physician "hospitalist"...."do not communicate with you, provide their medical reports, diagnosis, results of my labs all used to treat me, answer any questions....nothing....only attend to patient(s) in hospital." My first in-hospital experience other than surgery with this Prim. Dr.

This Prim. Dr. has the hospital, medical & lab reports & I was told by his asst/mgr but..."he cannot let me see the reports, nor can he give me a copy..." it's "up to him how he goes about sharing the results in those reports" and "what is pertinent to him serving as primary care physician to me" ....and oh, in the 3 pg. privacy of medical information and patients rights, yes she adamantly & very much enjoyed being "gustapo" about it...saying " :no-fin: it's against HIPPA for him to do that, nope not protecting my patients rights, but his physician responsibility of what he can provide to the patient" !!

Hospital, lab, physician reports are no longer acquired from medical records at hospital, but thru a 800 telephone
fax and 300 miles at the Health Port provider branch by computer, minimum 14 - 28 days to provide to a patient; and of course, much sooner for a physician !

Considering my status of infection in a high-risk situation - - it's ludicrous...yep I've given it over to my awesome God !! :yahoo:

Heart-thoughts (((hugs))) to you - - hope this finds you in a good recovery day @sunbunny and you are loving the :loveshwr:phase of walking soon with your blitzen hip:dancy: !!!

COME ON medical/hospital teams!!! All that amazing stuff you can do to heal people and you mess it up with not treating people like intelligent human beings. @Joydancer - keeping everything crossed that this time you get someone who has the confidence and integrity to treat you in the very best possible way.

love and some gnashing of teeths on your behalf, Jan xxx :tantrum2:

"Physician do not harm" (Hippocratic oath) - - that hierarchy is very swayed...yes they know we're human...and they could care less on our level of intelligence... by majority of what I see in this world of ours now 99-44/100 % their agenda is first (ego) & their own agenda being doctors, me, myself & I not true physicians = power + authority !!

Ha-ha, I can trump that truly....

my God is an awesome God, He is the only true Power and Authority in my life !! Oh and I really Love how He truly takes care of Me and my Life....even in this trial and challenge...nothing is too big !!! whoooo-hoooo Thank you God !!!

Love your big monkey = Gorilla - - & your ranting for me ((((hugs))) :yay: :loveshwr: :yay: all is going to be well  and is unfolding for my Highest Good...it always does, truly....:egypdance:

 How r u doin got to do catch-up ?!!!

Oh, forgot to say.... @Great Aunt Janet
So I have a Physician's Office at a awesome hospital/university where there are some of the finest physicians, labs, & staff....requesting my records stat !! :)

@Joydancer you are so upbeat. :) That's awesome. I hope that things go well today and that you get some answers!

Today....was my Prim Dr follow-up visit post-hospital for hip infection

Oh I am so blessed, my Dr. was very supportive & accomplished what I had hoped to do:
- review hospital reports,
- reviewed labs blood markers crp, etc.,
- exam of incision and hip area that showed infection (little to no symptoms) &
- physical assessment of left hip/leg movement = excellent
- discuss options to have Internal Med Physician (I.D. infectious Disease) qualified/experienced;
he named three, with one particular one he knew was thorough, very keen on experience & diagnostics
- referral sent to Int Med Physician I.D. for a consult & testing asap

4-18-15 Emerg Room - blood tests / iv antibiotic total 5 treatments into 4-21-15
- Blood CRP reactive protein high-range level prior to admitted erupted into symptoms side of hip red, swelling
CRP indicative of infection
4-19, 4/20, 4/21 Hospital - blood tests CRP decreasing with each iv-antibiotic & blood test
4-21-15 discharged from Hospital - symptoms much improved, swelling gone, some slight signs of hematoma where inflammed almost all red gone, just slight pink blotch in some areas; no heat on area; CRP in mid-range :thumb:
4-19 - 4/21/15 Liver and Kidney levels within range, slightly increased then lower with iv-administered :thumb:
4-25-15 Blood cultures for bacterium strains - growth most-resistant bacteria & most difficult to treat = negative :thumb: yes !! so good to hear

Follow-up with Internal Med Physician (ID specialist) - get appt. asap - tests to be done determine bacterial
strain in my hip
Follow-up with University ID Dept (out of state) - confirm if they got my hospital reports/medical records

Very pleased....this was everything I needed and wanted to accomplish and being able to see the Internal Med
Physician ID specialist here will hopefully achieve diagnosis of bacterial strain successfully is a plus, to save me from having to go out-of-state for University right off....(will do as team beyond ID specialist is needed; labs, anti-biotic treatments; clinical out-patient vs. hospital admission, non-interventional treatments, probiotics and if necessary orthpedic surgeon revision specialist).

Much peace of mind with the support of my Prim Dr. & preliminary tests/diagnosis beginning here close to home.

Thank you all for keeping me in your heart-thoughts and prayers, they were answered today

That is awesome! I am uplifted by your positive attitude and good news today. :) Prayers are with you.

Just to let you all know...

I will be seeing a good Dr. specialist on Thurs. 4-30 and beginning of series of tests to fully diagnose infection & possibly treatments.

Things are more on track for me now & you can know it's an answer to your & my prayers :) !!!

I'm so glad you hit paydirt on the doctor front @Joydancer! And that the tests have come back so positively negative (if you know what I mean) - it must be great to have some things ticked off and out of mind now. How are all the pain levels - has the infection caused more?

You are an absolute gem in your positive outlooks - great example!! :happydance::happydance::happydance:

Brilliant step forward. Your consultation was how it should be and reinforces how lacking lots of consultations are!
Much deserved and hope it takes you further steps forward.

I'm sorry to hear of your infection. I had an infection 29 days after my RTKR. It began with a little seeping, then a high fever (I thought it was the flu), then seeping like a river two days after the fever. I was on an IV antibiotic (something with an R) and oral rifampin for six weeks, till my white count was nom-existent. Once my white count came back I was put on 200mg of doxycycline and 6 months later, lowered to 100mgs. I did undergo a second surgery for an antibiotic wash and replacement of the plastic piece of my new knee.
Amazingly and due to the grace of God I had little pain, but wasn't allow to bend the new knee for a month. It was an emotional roller coaster, what you are feeling is to be expected and normal, I believe. I will be praying for you.

I should've mentioned the infection was staph and highly compatible with many antibiotics. However, I was treated with drugs similar to those used with MRSA. I do believe my leg was infected before the surgery. A few months before surgery I sliced my right leg open on vacation, after it healed it seeped for a few days. Unfortunately I forgot the whole incident until months after the 2nd surgery. I'm a doctor's nightmare...

How's it all going twinnie @Joydancer? I hope you've been able to stay out of the spring sales this weekend, and have had a completely sober time, eating full fibre cereals and no whisky, just dusting the odd figurine and doing your knee bends???? :)

Hi, just got home last night - - aaaahhh "home sweet home".

Had some tests done blood, ct scan with contrast, etc.
Good news for what what we can know right now...the scan shows the area where the infection erupted where the hematoma (blood / brusing from surgery procedure) has reduced significantly in size the hematoma went from 7-8" area to the left of my incision down to 1-1/2". No other signs of advancing infection as far as they can tell (fluids, swelling)
and nor any problems showing with stent (implant in the top of my leg highlighted with irregularities...still appearing to be surrounded by my bone = good with it being post-op 4 wks.

Blood test show low reactive protein = good. When the infection was active two weeks ago highest reactive protein (sign body is fighting an infection) was 1.7 (elevated high range)
when I went into the ER & admitted in hospital; after the iv anti-biotics for 3 days it decreased down to .8 (normal range). Blood test this week showed .3 normal low range.

They said they "cannot totally rule out infection" having not spread...but for now it's the best we can know right now and good news !!

I will continue to affirm my hip is healthy and continuing to function well with no sign of infection = please see & pray that one for me too!

Missed you all these last 2 weeks....

Wishing all the April Rainbows & Blitzen Hipsters continuing wonderful progress and days of seeing amazing progress and a new lease and enjoying life to it's fullest....making dreams delayed coming true :loveshwr::flwrysmile::loveshwr:

I continue to love my new hip and enjoy the freedom it continues to give me  I truly am blessed

There you are @Joydancer. Glad to hear that you are back home. I hope you are not in any pain and that you can return to some normalcy. You did not mention how this affected your ability to get around. Sending you prayers for a stronger healthier you.

@wcgirl thanks so much...the irony of it all I have been in no mobility pain, except some strain in top of thigh muscle when infection was flaring...movement is still fully free of any support and walking normal stride as I was day 10 post op :tada:

wcgirl, see that you are doing so well - - tried to do some catch up with you all this afternoon....I would imagine feeling very blessed with your new hip, yeah woman you reached your rainbow :loveshwr:
