    Outpatient TKR

    I'm a pretty tough chickie and I can't imagine going home, as outpatient, after a TKR. I was glad I was in the hospital for a couple of days, for the pain control alone. I was a couple days in the hospital, then transferred to inpatient rehab, total was approx 8 days total.

    Don't be in a hurry to get into the heels. Let you knee heel abit more, get stronger and your balance will improve. Then soon you'll be in heels again, if you want. I have to admit, it feels good to be in heels again, though the highest I will go is 2 or 2 1/4 high

    I don't think that'a decision you get to make. Both times, I had staples. I had no problem. My DIL's mother, had glue both times. I don't believe she had any issue.

    What Are YOU Thankful For?

    It goes without saying that I'm Thankful that I still have my mother with me. I'm an only child and the majority of my family is gone (passed on). I'm thankful that my husband, son & DIL are healthy. I'm thankful that I don't live on painkillers anymore because of 2 nice new knees.

    Showering after TKR?

    I had staples too. I showed on day 3 of the surgery, when they transferred me to inhouse rehab. They just covered up the knee with plastic, so it wouldn't get wet. The shower at the hospital had a nice teak bench. At home, I have a small shower bench for the tub.
